  1. Nutter Butters or Golden Oreos in banana pudding kicks ass.
  2. That's a wasteland as far as I know.
  3. https://www.dallasnews.com/food/restaurant-news/2023/02/06/small-grand-prairie-shop-with-big-name-mas-coffee-will-move-to-new-address/
  4. True. Seems he focusing more on his one location and then trying to get their rubs and sauces on shelves. I know his wifes coffee shop/breakfast taco place moved just down the street. That may be all they want on their plate at this time. I've never been to Zavalas but from all accounts Joe is a really good dude.
  5. Two Bros is definitely worth hitting up. I was there a few weeks ago. You can click on my avatar and profile and scroll back through my posts and see my pics and report. Pretty good stuff.
  6. As far as lean or fatty I usuall love a slice of the fatty. BUT if you are going to judge a place I would say judge them on their lean. Also if you said what's a good slice of brisket to judge I'd say when you take that brisket and seperate the lean from the fatty. That first slice of lean where you seperated is the slice i would want someone to judge my brisket on.
  7. https://www.texasmonthly.com/bbq/bar-a-bbq-montgomery-review/ Houston area BBQ scene adds another good looking place to their list.
  8. Sir I know what I'm doing. I'm going to inject them with liquid smoke this evening and let them marinate over night. Going to be spectacular.
  9. What's the most briskets you've cooked at one time. I'm committed to six this weekend and I think I might split that up over two days. Not sure my smokers will even do that comfortably without rotatiing them a bunch. Definitely don't want to mess up folks Easter briskets.
  10. That looks tremendous. I wish I could get my ribs on point. I don't ever get the meat to pull back from the bones on my ribs for some reason. I know that might not be a big deal but I like that look and it eludes me.
  11. Surely she has a backer and that backer has property or money in Lockhart otherwise it doesn't make a lot of sense. Who know? Best of luck to her just seems like a crowded market.
  12. Agreed. I mean that town seems pretty BBQ heavy as is and with the new Terry Blacks they kinda have the alternative to the old school joints. You would have just thought there was better towns that are in real need of legit BBQ.
  13. Hit Reese Bros a couple weekends ago while in San Antonio. Food is legit. Ordered a 1/4 of meats just to try as much as possible. Poblano mac and cheese is great, ribs were fantastic and loved the homeade tortillas. You get to kinds of sauce, one is traditional and the other is kind of a creamy salsa. All in all would recommend; place is about two blocks south of the Alamo dome right off the highway.
  14. So is green spaghetti any different than the Poblano Mac and Cheese Reese Bros in San Antonio is serving?
  15. True if I order brisket in Oklahoma it needs to be chopped and sauced. That's why so many menus back in the day just said "BBQ Beef" as an option. Sliced brisket is not a thing in Oklahoma.
  16. Cooked this one last weekend in Oklahoma. Was a 12 lb prime from Sams. Put it on about 9 that morning, pulled and wrapped it about 7 that evening and put it in the oven until it hit 200 degrees. Turned oven off for an hour then set it to it's lowest setting 170 over night. Have tried the warm setting on our oven but after about 3.5 hours it will beep a few times and then turn off. I guess it will only "warm" for so long. I don't use a water pan in the oven.
  17. *Also hadn't been in a while. The new Terry Blacks is about a stones throw from Kreuz and is the first BBQ joint you see when you take the Lockhart exit off the highway. They definitely had that planned out.
  18. Went to San Antonio last weekend for the state tournament and had the chance to eat a few places along the way. First stop was Kreuz in Lockhart. I ate light, grabbed two rings of sausage and some crackers. This is how the locals must do it cause it was about $7. The original was fine but the jalapeno cheese one was the best. I thought the grind on the original was way too smooth for me taste, the jalapeno cheddar was much more to what I like. All in all good trip for sure.
  19. Alright I think the plan for now is to drive down tomorrow and hit City Market in Luling basically want to see that place and have the sauce I've heard so much about and their sausage. Once I'm in San Antonio I'm going to hit Reese Brothers (couple blocks south of the Alamodome) on Saturday for lunch and then somewhere in Austin will be hit on Sunday on the way back to Dallas but not sure where just yet.
  20. Had Torchys on Saturday. One taco, one chips and queso and it was $17. I can't be doing that. I'm outpriced. The meat on my taco was small. Gonna be a while before I venture back in.
  21. I'm under the assumption (and correct me if I'm wrong) that Burnt Bean will sell out or whatever i would probably be in the area around 1:00. I hadn't considered Burnt Bean for line and possible sellout. Advise me if that's not an issue. *I have never been to the City Market in Luling so that stop would be purely for nostalgia and to market it off the list.
  22. Driving Dallas to San Antonio this week. Gonna take toll road around Austin; last time I did this I went to Blacks in Lockhart (had never been) and this time I'm considering stoppng at Luling City Market. Thumbs up on Luling City market? Gonna try and hit Reese (sp) Brothers in San Antonio on Saturday.
  23. I stil think for BBQ joints it's serve BBQ lunch until sell out then in the evening is the burgers, tacos, etc. You can have smoked chicken, sausage etc until close cause those are easy to cook.
  24. Terry Blacks getting $29.95 a lb for ribs now is mind blowing.
  25. So if you guys go to a bbq restaurant and get a side of beans do you prefer like a pinto bean with onion etc, (I'd call it a cowboy bean) or would you prefer a baked beans? Little BBQ joint by my house only has two sides with their dinners. Potato salad and some baked beans and dang it's a good combo. Now if I'm sitting down for a bunch of beans i want pintos and cornbread
