  2. Made the drive out to Longview to check on Sunbird this weekend. They are set up just outside the Hyundai dealer there. It's a to go place only right now as they don't have any tables, etc. People didn't seem to mind though as business was brisk. They have a lease on a building and are hoping to be in soon. I had some chicken spaghetti, some al pastor pork belly burnt ends and a brisket melt. The brisket melt is basically a chopped beef will grilled onions and jalapenos chopped into it and it was dynamite. Everything was good.
  3. Sounds like an excellent trip to Snows. Glad you enjoyed that adventure.
  4. Well after asking for suggestions last week we ended up at LM. Had been about five years since I was there. They had added a patio since last i was there but nobody was using it. I went with two friends they had never had a beef ribs so I ordered that, two sausages and a tea $74. Buddies ordered brisket, sausage and ribs. Their ribs are $26 a lb which is insane to me. They ordered three ribs and it was $22. $199 sampler is available. At the end of the day it's Louie Muellers and it's worth the money if you only get there every few years for the ambiance of the joint.
  5. I wonder what happened at Brett's? Place always seemed busy. I know he was elected mayor of Rockdale about a year ago, wonder if other opportunities popped up or what. I like his place cause it was unique.

  7. What's the story with that?
  8. Headed to Bartlett, TX from Dallas on Saturday. Any recommendations around there for BBQ? Taylor is 17 miles south but we will be hauling a livestock trailer and not sure they are gonna want to go down there and back after loading. Anything else special in the area? We very well might end up at LM, but just looking at othe options. I know Miller in Belton and Guess/Helberg in Waco are on the way back. Thoughts?
  9. If I'm hitting original Blacks I want sausage, sauce and some crackers. That's what I thought impressed me.
  10. "Terry Blacks" as far as i know is in Austin, Dallas and soon Waco. They are members of the family but are estranged from the original Blacks BBQ. I haven't had a bad meal at Terry Blacks yet. Ate in Austin once and several times in Dallas.
  11. I wanna hit Dayne's over in Ft. Worth. https://daynescraftbarbecue.com/
  12. Tough to see any place close but that was a tough location. If you never been the front of the building faced the road and all the parking was in the rear. I'm not sure about Ft. Worth location but this one had a bar (Arlington doesn't) and someone said that Frisco/Little Elm made them be open 7 days a week. Is that a thing? You can force a business to be open a certain number of days? This location also didn't cut food in front of you and for some reason that's the kind of joint I like. I prefer my food being sliced, etc. Only been out to the Arlington location once and everything I tried was 10/10. My trip to Little Elm wasn't as impressive. I just think it was a bad spot. There's a Hula Hut right down the road and it doesn't seem to be super busy when I have driven by.
  13. Olde Tyme po boy is the best po boy in the nation. It would be on my top ten places I'd want a meal if I was headed to the chair.
  14. As far as Ft. Worth this place gets good reviews; just wouldnt' call it "high end" bbq. But folks say it's good and Daniel Vaughn has given them some pub. https://www.yelp.com/biz/smoke-a-holics-bbq-fort-worth

  16. Well he died, but thanks for getting in another shot. Nothing but class.
  17. Is this the place that had queso catfish?
  18. This thread needs more love. Thinking about pulling the trigger on a Blackstone for Christmas. Apperciate the Ace hardware advice.
  19. I do one every year, and seems every year I do something a little different. Anyone got some tips and tricks. I usually do about 7 lbs or so. *Also brother doesn't like it smoked so gotta cook it in the oven. I'd like to smoke one sometime.
  20. When I was at Millers (been this summer sometime) they were switching over to the M&M pits which are basically oylers. So it's still wood with an electric assist.
  21. Braums definitely had these one year after Thanksgiving.
  22. I want a Whatataquito which has potato, sausage and bacon in it. Why do they not have that? Yes i know I can add that to a regular taquito but I don't want to pay $18 for a taquito. You'd think this would be an item they offered. Just an "everything" taquito.
  23. That's like putting the gravy under the chicken fried steak.
  24. Stopped at the Frisco HEB last Saturday evening, slipped into a good parking spot got out of the truck and noticed a line of about 40 people outside waiting to get in the store. Hopped back in the truck and went on home.
