  1. This also might hint that their staff is not confident that their rebuilt, offensive line, in a similar situation to ours, can’t hold up to the pass rush of their first team defense. Good thing OSU’s front seven is more talented than ours, right?
  2. This guy could very well be right that Arbuckle is the second coming of Lincoln Riley, but the article really hand waves away the talent advantage of that 2015 team and who exactly they lined up against versus who Oklahoma lines up against this year. For receivers, 2015 OU had Sterling Sheppard, Dede Westbrook and Mark Andrew’s catching passes from Baker Mayfield. I can’t even name an Oklahoma pass catcher beyond Deion Burks. Does that mean none of the others won’t step up and become all-SEC performers? No. Is that likely? Probably not. But surely, Jaydn Ott—the top* transfer portal RB—will help make up the difference? Well that 2015 OU team had Semaje Perine and Joe Mixon splitting carriers… As painful as it is to chant “SEC SEC SEC”, Oklahoma has an absolutely brutal schedule this year that you can’t compare to what 2015 Oklahoma faced. Starting next month, Oklahoma has to face Michigan, Auburn, Texas, Alabama, South Carolina, and LSU; all of these teams project to have top-30 defenses. 2015 Oklahoma did actually have to face some successful teams: #6 Baylor, #11 Oklahoma St, #18 TCU, and #23 Tenn. And the fact that they beat all of those teams makes Riley’s and Baker’s performances that much more impressive. But none of those teams likely have the defensive talent of their 2025 schedule.
  3. Not disputing that Bohls is dumb, but we definitely shouldn’t overlook that he actively acted/acts in bad faith against the program. For years he took purposefully contrarian positions, relishing every opportunity to badmouth Texas, so that he could prop himself up as a legitimate “neutral” journalist that is somehow above a mere local sports reporter. His votes against the program had significant consequences for the university, and he was sadly rewarded with a long and overpaid career at the Austin Statesman despite forgettable writing and worthless, tepid analysis. Fuck this guy.
  4. Well said. If you posted this on SEC rant, the posters that can read above a 3rd grade level would absolutely lose their mind.
  5. Amazing, this fills every bingo square on room-temp IQ t-shirt fan card… We have grammatical errors: We have nonsensical sayings: There’s even a brisket reference!
  6. There’s zero chance we flip Wafle unless/until the end of the season rolls around and USC’s checks start bouncing.
  7. I love that the scouting report thinks it best to focus on his arm talent, and doesn’t even mention his athleticism and escapability. What a great evaluation by the staff.
  8. I think you nailed it. From what Bobby is hinting at, it sounds like LB is another focus area. On Texas was also one of the only outlets pushing the XG and TA as mutually exclusive, so it seems like there is attention being paid to that position. If you look at our recruiting for the last two years, LB is the only other position that fits the bill of needing a “top” player. QB - nuff said WR - Lockett, Ffrench TE - Townsend OT - Baker (the staff apparently also ranks Brooks as one of the most talented) DL - Terry Edge - nuff said LB - Bo Barnes (not necessarily top 3) CB/S - nuff said
  9. I’m not going to dispute the laziness of my take that “it’s always been this way so it will be this way next season.” But for A&M there always seems to be some aspect of the program that performs above our expectations. For example, their O Line last year should have been abysmal, with some (including me) expecting Strong 2014 levels of ineptitude. But somehow it played better than the sum of its parts and exceeded expectations, particularly with decent run blocking bolstered by QB run threat. I don’t know how much my analysis of A&M is tainted by a subconscious desire to see a hilarious meltdown, so I try to counteract that. You’re right, I did not realize the talent level at Auburn. Missouri I still don’t buy. Penn St fans didn’t seem to have too much angst about Pribula leaving, and he’d really have to develop as a passer in order to unlock that offense. To be fair to Missouri, they did get Connor Weigman’s one good game last season, which was a massive performance outlier. And now Elko won’t be able to engage starting QB chicanery to force teams to work on multiple defensive game plans.
  10. Like every year, we are going to overestimate the number of a&m losses. They’ll get the benefit of good schedule timing, some lucky breaks, and will end up 8-4. Here are my thoughts. Two highly likely losses: ND and Texas. Away games against more talented teams. One highly likely loss with caveat: LSU, unless LSU implodes. A&M benefits by having this game later in the schedule. LSU seems to be the more talented team on paper, but LSU has a rough schedule that may have their fans turn on Brian Kelly and derail the season. They open with Clemson, and half to play Florida, Ole Miss and South Carolina before A&M. I could see them dropping three of those games and the team quitting. But if they survive, A&M is toast. This game is at the swamp and LSU plays Vandy the week prior. Two possible losses: Florida and South Carolina. Not sure if the Florida hype is warranted, but both of these teams have elite QBs. A&M probably splits these. The rest of the schedule is favorable. Missouri got crushed with a better team last year, and Arkansas never beats A&M. 8-4
  11. Maybe they know the NBA will put its thumb on the scales to get them Cam Boozer
  12. Gerry subtly dropped Ojo from “4 Star++” to just a “4 Star+”. Basically kiss of death.
  13. Did you know: Cats sometimes hallucinate because their brains produce more serotonin than any other neurotransmitter.
  14. I’m glad they’re choosing to blow all of their budget on 5-Star RBs and Carson Beck’s car insurance premiums
  15. Gerry knew James Johnson‘s announcement date before anyone else and before it was publicly announced. Sure NIL counteroffers from other schools at the last minute could change things, but that’s a good sign.
  16. The only reason this wasn’t a bigger deal at the time was because he had done such a lazy and half-ass job building the class up to that point. There weren’t that many good players who could decommit and pick a better school than Texas. Hell, the best player from that class was Poona Ford, and Charlie Strong brought him over last minute.
  17. Per OTF, sounds like he is now announcing June 28th
  18. Straight face comparing Hawaii to Galveston is uncharted territory and peak offseason. In the late July summer doldrums when this board is yet again reliving the greatest losses in the Tom Herman era while Satya is furiously fapping in the corner, we will be looking back fondly on these days. Well done.
  19. Delicious. You have to love the cognitive dissonance displayed bitching about NIL. Texas is only signing DTs because of NIL. But we signed JeRalyan McCoy because he just loves our school and believes Billy is the best darn coach in the land.
  20. Your boy Hayes isn’t doing Elk any favors with that filter…
  21. Gerry seems more passive aggressive in this update than normal
  22. Yes. I still have PTSD from that last trip to DC. Dreary day, polite and unenthusiastic opposing fans, and I swear there was some kind of rain delay that caused everyone to get blackout drunk. But that might have been a hallucination.
