BOOM MOTHER FUCKER - Will Muschamp's Triumphant Return
William Bludworth replied to Nueces River Rat's topic in Football
This feels two ways: 1. Sark was told that if he doesn't fix shit ASAP, he should start getting his resume together. 2. Sark himself is tired of this shit, and when you can upgrade, do it every time. Akina had to go, but I'm surprised about PK. I read he wanted to go back to the PNW, and that's cool., but why not just put in your resignation and leave rather than be fired? Akina had to fucking go. Good riddance. I like Mischamp a lot, and he has produced some of the best and most physical defenses we've had in a long, long time (Sergio meet Taylor Potts). We had a lot of talent then too, just like now. I'm really surprised he came out of retirement, but it's Texas and he's had a house here since..,.almost 20 years, and he and his wife vacation here. He's been on campus a few times to converse with Sark. There's a video somewhere on YouTube with Muschamp talking to Baxter, Sweat, Murphy, Barron, and some other guys before heading to take on Washington in the CFP 2 years ago. I'm totally happy with the hire. -

Oh right, I've been sick all week and wasn't sure if I had dreamed that or not. I actually Googled it and didn't see anything, but I did it gain and saw that he's in the portal. Why? Dude had the chance to absolutely wreck shop in his final year. I thought he was happy here? I'm bummed now. -

Look, those are great numbers, but they're skewed. Look at the teams that we have beaten and the teams that have beaten us. Florida almost beat our asses by 2+ TD's until Sark panicked, put in a true frosh T to replace Stroh, and our D couldn't even stop their dinged up QB, couldn't stop the run, and couldn't stop the pass...in week 5. Then we once again get blasted by Georgia by four scores. So in 2 years in conference, we have gotten body bagged by Georgia 3 times, FL was about to, though they might as well have since that's how smart our coaches are. It's a Georgia problem. PK cannot scheme well enough against Mike fucking Bobo, and Sark is getting his offense shoved into a locker. We blew leads against ASU in the peach bowl because we can't stop the run, we can't stop the pass which is why Clemson, a very bad Clemson team came back on us. I like PK and am very happy he built the D back up, but he's hit a wall and can only do so much. Muschamp knows the entire league front to back, top to bottom. We'll be fine. We have the talent and the horses to win. If we can land a new OL coach all the better. Same with WR, because Jackson isn't teaching or developing shit. He's letting other teams develop so he can take credit for it (Golden, Bond, Mosley, Mitchell). Other than Wingo making a good catch, it's really hit or miss, and that's unacceptable for a true Soph former five-star who has heen playing since day 1. Moore? He's been there, but again, he barely catches. McCutcheon looks to be good, but how would we know since he only got one or two passes thrown to him every 3 games. -

Huh. I just saw he won the Landry award coming out of HS. Lots of yikes to yeah, they deserved it. Est. 2010 Johnathan Gray - Texas (win it twice in 2010/2011. Could have been a generational talent had he not torn both of his achilles. If he got one year of rest for his legs, I bet those injuries ether don't happen, or it's something minor. Even after the injuries you could see he had so much talent) Jake Oliver - Texas (2012) Myles Garrett - aggy (2013. Uh, yeah. The only true aggy I wish played for Texas, which he would have if we didn't have a colossal failure in Mack Brown to Charlie Strong, who didn't even bother trying to recruit or put the most effort possible to get him. Charlie Strong in a sentence. Generational talent.) Kyler Murray - ou/aggy (2014. Uh, yeah. Sucks Calvin couldn't help us out here more instesd of his red ass dad. I have to question Kyler's intelligence if it took him from January to the middle of the season to realize he fucked up. Generational talent) Jett Duffey - tech (2015. No clue who this is.) Kennedy Brooks - ou (2016. No idea why or how, but I guess the pickings were slim that year) John Stephen Jones - Arky (2017 have never heard of him) TJ McDaniel - SMU (2018 no clue about him. I know he transfered to SMU from Northern Arizona) Jaxon Smith-Njigba - tOSU (2019 Ths is a no shit, and a fuck you to both Tom Herman and Drew Merhinger for being fucking retarded and flip flopping. No wonder you both fail) Jojo Earle - unlv (2020 college journeyman from starting off at Bama then transferring to TCU and now it's time to try a level just above 3A football at unlv) John Hoover - TCU (2021 I had heard the name, but otherwise he's a non-entity. I don't know if he pans out or not since he's just a Soph, but I'm willing bet he won't) Jackson Arnold - ou/Aub (2022 I mean, what else can be said? Quite literally all of us (or the majority of us) said he will absolutely suck ass in college, while ou fans knawed and hissed, and then saw the product on the field and said "yeah, he's fucking terrible. We need a hard reset. We let Gabriel walk for this piece of shit?) -

I mean, you're not wrong. Why would they? You killed them, er I mean they were already dead, so why should you let it go to waste? All you're doing is making sure it goes from point A (their hands) to point B (your nose and lips). It's pretty simple Now, as for mine, he uses iike 6 aliases for some reason. He's like "Today, I'm Muhammad," but out of confusion I ask him him why a middle eastern name? He says to me "how many Muhammad's sell coke?" Touché I guess? So I'm like, just give me the MDMA so I can wallow in sadness and feel good at the same time. -

Dude. I know, right? He was asked about that, and during games it's hard to keep your composure when you're at a high level, but Kiffin said the moment the game ended and they were back in the locker rooms, win or defeated, Saban always gave him a hug. Saban, once the whistle blows dead is not even remotely the same as game day coach Saban. Lane said seeing him play Legos with his grandkids was the most beautiful thing he has ever seen. People think Tyrant, but said if people could see who Nick really is as a human being, it would kill all of the mystery around him. He's night and day. He was just talking about how every assistant that has worked under Nick ALWAYS takes time to visit for the holidays because there is so much to do, and the house is incredible. It's only used for holidays, nothing else. So many kids and grandkids, and Saban hires a Santa to come over on the 25th to hand out gifts to the kids and grandkids. I really have a new found respect for both Saban and Freshwater. You can tell one is completely dialed in but once the whistle blows he let's it all go. While the other you can tell he has grown up. No more job hopping after a year, he just finally settled, turned down several jobs, and then LSU opened, and that would be hard to turn down. They ALL love Saban. The respect he has and the knowledge he has heen given said it made him grow up as a coach and take things more seriously or else every program out there, no matter if they're D1-NAIA will eventually decide you aren't worth the trouble, so the more narcassism you put out there is just giving people reasons to not hire you. He said he knew he was joking, but schools pay a lot of money to win, and being a clown before you have won anything of notice is fool's gold. If you were hired because you're great as an OC/HC then that's what they expect. And f in 3 years you haven't figured out how to get past 8 wins, you'll be gone. Here? -

I personally think so. We've had some of our best defenses under him when he first coached here. He knows what he's doing, what he wants, he recruits, he's relentless, and he gets to coach a big name, blue blood powerhouse that he knows all about. He's been to the campus since Sark has been coach. There's a video on YouTube of him visiting a few years ago before we were about to leave for the CFP to take on Washington. He's seen talking to Sweat, Murphy, Baxter, Barron, Collins., AD Mitchell, and some other guys I can't remember. -

💯 Keep doing the lords work I don't know about all of that, but I know Mischamp and Lane are really, really tight outside of football. Like, they take their boys fishing all the time. As far as I know, and this just a guess, but they have been bff for close to 15+ years. You would never know it since Mischamp doesn't get on social media much, but yeah, they're like really tight. I learned that when listening to Lane's interview with Theo Vonn (whatever you think about him, this is a totally different interview, and it's not layered with sexual innuendos. Theo took this interview extremely seriously, and you can tell. It pays off.) They went pretty deep (NTTAWWT) about friendship, trust, how to kill a team when your friend is on the other side (weirdly, they do discuss before the weekend of this or that happens, feel free to make an example out of us to show the players how humiliating it was). Recruiting is off-limits. It's all man for himself, so no Mack Brown queerity. But once the seasons are over, they're over. They spend Christmas together at Saban's house with Sark, Kirby, Mischamp, Lane, and several other friends and family, and a lot of coaches. He said they do not talk about football during the holidays. They all have their kids and families and usually stay with Saban until after the first of January. They're all extremely close from the Saban tree. Which I like a lot. It means they actually care about those people and their well-being, and will help at the drop of a hat. He said it's so crazy seeing a hard ass like Anyway, the interview was really good, even if you don't care for Theo. He didn't do his usual dirty talk, he actually kept it real and on topic. He asked great questions, he's also very knowledgeable. I'm still floored he graduated college, even if it is LSU. This interview takes place months before the season, so no talk of LSU from Lane. -

I love Freshwater, but fuck he's going to be a nightmare to recruit against. At least it's usually LSU/AGGY battling for certain players, and we usually have about 3-4 we all three go after (not even mentioning Bama, Ore, USC, Michigan, Ohio State, etc.) but with Mischamp at DC, he's a willing recruiter, loves Austin (he still has a house here after all of those years, and I doubt he ever thought he would be back). I Do know he and his wife spend time in Austin a few times a few a year for vacation, so he's very well acquainted with the schools, staff, players all over Texas. I will bet Bo Barnes, Lefau, Ty Smith, Atkinson, Brad Spence, Hero Kanu, Justus Terry, Myron Charles, Sharma, Colin Simmons, Maraad Watson, Johnathan Cunningham. Zina Umeozulu, Richard Wesley and Smith Orogbo will be dogs coming inside or off edge. PK was quiet, Mischamp is not. Practices just got bumped to 11. I wish the best for Vasek, but it's time we let that dream go. He cannot stay healthy, and that's not his fault it's his body telling him it's time to hang it up before anything worse happens. Does that mean Mischamp is a better DC? It's hard to tell, but what he does have going for him is he's been in this league and with Georgia in particular since 2021, and they won the title in 2022 and 2023, and have made the playoffs 5 times. He's been part of their CFP run in 4/5 times they reached it. They made it once in 2017 before he arrived in 2021, and then made them in 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025. Dude has helped win them 2 titles in the last 4 years. I'll hold out hope that he does a better job recruiting defensively, but also helps the defense grow first before actually sending the dogs to kill the opposite team. I think it's great we got him so we can concentrate on shoving Day and co heads in a locker, and since Hartline is gone, their WR recruiting may go down. He was elite-elite at recruiting WRs. So glad that mf'er is gone. Now all we need to do is convince him that to branch out and make more connections he needs to try his hand in an equally tough conference to see how well he can recruit against the likes of Bama, Auburn, Florida, Miami, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Aggy, LSU (Who is arguably 1b to Ohio State WR recruiting), Ole Miss, etc. See what he can do there and help us out since Jackson doesn't seem to be developing WR's, he just takes a portal guy or two who have already been developed and it makes him look more competent than he is. I'm all for gutting it all and starting over, Flood literally killed this team by himself with his lazy ass recruiting three-star kids and hoping they work OK out, rather than getting higher ranked kids that aren't a total project, use the portal to bring in immediate starters so we aren't having to laugh at the absurdity of seeing Connor Stroh out there moving his knees up and down, standing straight up like he's climbing a latter, and is literally so weak he can't move a DE/3/5-tech. He's just a dummy standing there waiting to get abused. His PFF grade that I last saw had him in the high 40s to mid 50s. Abasement. -

I mean, I like Mischamp and he has a better understanding of the SEC than most, but PK did fine. He can't control the offendive ineptitude. Fire Akina and find someone else. Why fire PK + Akina, but Orphey is cool? I mean, he did show improvement during the season progression, but this totally sounds like desperation mode for Sark. I think CDC didn't just explain why we didn't make it, but after the last 2 seasons and being wingless against the two warm bodies on the schedule, he was forced to make the change. I guess the good thing about Mischamp is he wants his players to kill everyone. He's the most passionate DC I've ever seen. He's still the only DC I've ever seen who almost ripped his own face off to get to the ears. At least I'll always have the memory of Sergio Kindle sending Taylor Potts to an uncharted dimension, so he knows when to send the dogs. Georgia's defense was much, much better with Mischamp advising. -

Malcolm Roach to safety -
He'll make the jump into the top 150 sooner rather than later. We got us a good one. Those Midwestern/upper east coast dudes, especially those from school like Don Boscoe Prep, or the Hun school almost always work out. He's going to be really, really good, he's a smart kid if he's graduating fron Don Boscoe. It's known more for football, but their academics are really good.
-
Man I really like this commit. A Midwestern (or upper east coast) TE is exactly what we need. Dude is already 6'4-6'5 and 230-230. He'll make a jump in the rankings. Dude looks like he can be my new Blaine Irby without injuries.

Well let's hope Drevno has a seamless transition. This dude knows what it takes, from what the coaches think they can get and where to find a comparable is a huge key difference between the two. Drevno has worked under Harbaugh thrice, he can recruit at a high level (Stanford vs UT for linemen, and we always lost), Michigan, who built their bread and butter punishing teams with the run, and he has NFL experience. Flood has no actual lines worth talking about before 2019, unless you want to talk about being hired by Atlanta and was sent packing, along with Sark to be molded by the GOAT. As for his two seasons at Bama, who knows who can really take credit? How do you go from being under Saban's thumb to lucking into Banks and Williams when Cristobal showed why he's incompetent. He did land Baker for RT, and I assume Brooks for LT. Campbell has gotten better over his four seasons. Tackles are good, it the IOL that has been...we'll see. I think Drevno has the better upside. -

Yes. No surface-level unless you're a pretty harder for thought your band. He's a machine. -
I remember Mount Union was a powerhouse in the 90s/early aughts. I only caught a couple of games, but they were pretty fun to watch. I used to get them confused with Fork Union Military Academy for whatever reason. I don't even know why Mount Union popped into my head. I hadn't heard about them in a long ass time.
-
The players opting out started when? I remember one player opting out and it was kind of a big deal at the time, and then slowly it began happening more and more. As for the bowl games— they're not really good or bad, they're just more games to keep us entertained because we will be crying and whining to watch William & Mary take on Mount Union on Tues the 27th or whatever. I take full advantage of the games, and I'm also happy we don't suck at baseball anymore. And softball. After March Madness, NBA playoffs/finals (if you're into that), all we have left is baseball and softball, then a dry spell for about a month. But let's be real- we're all here because football reigns supreme. Plus recruiting kicks up a notch.

The one about Thurman Thomas really surprised me. Like, how tf do you just not get surgery and still punish defenders? To this day, only AP, Gore, and McGahee are the ones that absolutely floor me. I honest to God thought McGahee was losing that leg. It wss so brutal. I have never torn any knee ligaments, so that's completely foreign to me. My sister tore her ACL/MCL in the early aughts playing college soccer and all she said was the "pain" was extremely annoying, and almost impossible to sleep with. She said it's not so much you're in constant pain, but more your brain can't turn the pain off once it hits. After surgery she said it was just sore, nothing more. I assume everybody is different since she was back to practicing at around 6 months. Full practice, not in rehab. Whomever her doctor was he was great, especially considering she tore it her freshman year and still finished her career, and that wss almost 20 years ago, so imagine what they have now. I did tear my rotator cuff, and I shit you not, the pain was so immense that I couldn't have sex or wipe my own ass without getting tension headaches. That shit fucking sucked, and not because I couldn't have sex, but simply I couldn't even shower properly without getting literal blinding headaches and passing out in the shower. I wanted to cry, but can't do that because girls are around. Can't see me in agonizing pain because manly man. Fuck that. I finally after a week set up surgery. I could not live like that. -
Nice.

I don't know, I like both. The euphoric feeling is quite bad ass. The LSD, nah, that was hyperbole. I don't want my last minutes seeing flashing lights and hearing screaming. It's a lose-lose for me, regardless. No amount of drugs would do anything. I actually make the experience worse by looking that shit up and hearing about them on podcasts. I am glutton for punishment. It's like when I watch shark attack videos before heading to the beach. I don't know why I do it. It's like I want to feel the fear and adrenaline or some shit. Or maybe that's just my sociopathic side telling me we do still have emotions.
