Muschamp isn't firing Nansen. Why would he unless he has someone else in mind? Plus I don't think Sark would allow that, but who knows? Why would he fire both PK and Akina instead of PK and let Muschamp fire Akina? I think Orphey and Nansen are staying. Samr with Clark.

Of course. There's always risk. I mean, look at how different it went for Harbaugh from Stanford to Michigan. I bet he would have one or two NC's if the weirdo could stay at a single job without becoming a pain in the ass. Instead, he just cannot accept that yes, even high level college jobs get tougher. He seemed baffled by that. Anyway, you know how Manny _iaz seems to not suck except at Texas? That happens more than should happen.

Not really the same considering Mischamp is actually a defensive genius, and Banks isn't even average at his position. We don't know what happened with Georgia, but I would say it's more likely than not he helped get them over the hump, especially when you have four eyes and each can diagnose. Muschamp is built different. I'm not saying people should just be happy, but at least we aren't hiring a Chad Scott, Mark Orphey, or Akina or just sitting on our hands. We have an elite DC who wants to come back to Austin in a league he knows front to back. If nothing else, he's going to get us over the Kirby hump.

What we want is either Lacy or Baugh and then we can all finally accept it and move on to something even dumber to argue about.

And yet the year he got there and he was promoted to co-DC, they just happened to win the NC twice. I would say getting them over the hump is pretty solid work. They have only missed the CFP once in 5 seasons.

Tim Drevno, hands down. Give him the keys and stop fucking around. Let him recruit his own guys since he actually recruits 4-5* guys and then fills in the rest appropriately. Dude worked for Harbaugh at Stanford, Michigan, and he worked with Ohio State last year with their line.

It will absolutely help in the world of recruiting elite talent in Georgia, FL, MS, and maybe LA.

BOOM MOTHER FUCKER - Will Muschamp's Triumphant Return
We don't know, but it was reported he stepped away so he and his wife could focus on their kids in their last years. He was originally supposed to be our DC when Sark was hired, but something fell through. Also, he wasn't the primary DC, just the co-DC, so he didn't have the same high pressures that other coaches had. He wasn't leaving unless he got an offer he couldn't turn down (us) because of who we are in the name, and we are in his league now. If anyone doesn't think that will help, I don't know what to say. Guys like him with his passion and genius level defensive IQ don't just stop remembering what they're good at. He went back to Georgia because he, Smart, and Bobo were all roommates in college. It made sense, he got them two NC's in his first two years to get them over the hump. I don't get why people just went from chastising PK in the game threads to now being upset that he's getting to go home and we get another elite DC. It's a win-win.

No, I think the better back just happens to be from the state of Texas. Lacy - 258/1279/20 rushing TD's @ 5 ypc with another 154 yards receiving Baugh - 220/1170/8 rushing TD's @ 5.3 ypc with 33 yards receiving (clearly doesn't have great hands, but definitely serviceable) with 1 TD.

BOOM MOTHER FUCKER - Will Muschamp's Triumphant Return
What's the deal? He got to Georgia in 2021 and helped them win the NC in 2021-2022, and they have only missed the CFP once since he got there. The spending time with family I believe was so he could go see his kid(s) play at Vandy instead of traveling back and forth.

You know, I never thought about that regarding the language. And yean, I think this was agreed on well before today. I, like you and many others, cannot see why we would be vindictive towards a man who brought us from the grave to relevance.

I'm hoping Kewan Lacy is still our #1. Bring him back home to Texas! Baugh would be my number two unless Hardy from Mizzou jumped in (he's not).

I just now put two and two together. No wonder he's irrelevant and sucked.

BOOM MOTHER FUCKER - Will Muschamp's Triumphant Return
I'm with you. I don't get it, either. During the season it was complain about the defense playing soft coverage, which is what PK likes to do, and now we replace him with a guy that knows this league and defense better than almost anyone and people are upset.

Did they happen to muster any other points? You probably don't want to go look at those stats, it's bad. That's called being unprepared. That's on Sark. Arch knows OSU has talent, but he came out the first few weeks scared to death. No one on either offense really needs a back pat. They both looked mostly inept. Sayin did what he was supposed to do, but other than Manny's blown assignment to let Tate score, he and Smith were shut down by Littleton, Manny, and McDonald. I don't remember Taaffe doing much. That's why I said earlier in the season Ohio State wasn't winning the NC. Now I feel even better about that prediction, especially since IU beat them. IU and Georgia are the two best teams in the CFP.

BOOM MOTHER FUCKER - Will Muschamp's Triumphant Return
How is Muschamp a retread? Dude landed at Georgia and the first two years they won the NC, and since he's been there they've only missed the CFP once. Go look at his recruiting, too. It's top notch, just as far back as last year. Yeah, his last season here he sucked absolute shit with LB recruiting, but every year he was here we were top 10, but this is why we have Nansen. He's our LB guy and I doubt Sark will let Muschamp near that room. Look, we both know he didn't fire PK without a plan, or else we wouldn't have immediately gotten the same text saying PK has been fired, Will Muschamp new DC. It wss clearly planned. I don't know why they announced he was fired after all he's done, but maybe he pissed of Sark and CDC in a heated moment. He's been wanting to get back to the PNW, so nothing is stopping him now. I would rather have a DC locked in and not thinking about whether he should leave or not. This will help us so much more in recruiting Georgia and Florida, and maybe other states. PK wasn't a recruiter, so that was a handicap. His secondary was above average to dog shit in all but 2 seasons, hence why both he and Akina were fired together. Greg Robinson rises from the grave

BOOM MOTHER FUCKER - Will Muschamp's Triumphant Return
The Day "problem" is obviously just unfortunate circumstance. We should have beaten them by every metric, but we blew it because of anything that could go wrong went wrong, except on defense. Which is why I'm confused about firing PK instead of letting him leave without making a show of it. Unless he just absolutely went off on Sark or CDC, I'm baffled. I'm happy with the Muschamp hire since it will resonate with a lot more athletes.

2025 Texas Coaching/Support Staff Thread
A relic? He's still easily one of the greatest defensive minds, even today. Yes, I agree his LB evaluations were shit, which is why we have Nansen. Muschamp won't even make a dent in that dept. Anyway, the guy is a fucking legend, has been in the SEC since 2011, and knows the league inside and out, front to back, top to bottom. If anyone is helping us beat Georgia, it's him. He was one of the reasons for their 2021/2022 NC wins. He got there in 2021, then they magically just fucking destroy everyone. So from 2021-2025 he's been with Georgia in some capacity. That's on defense. Hence why their defense is almost unstoppable when you have both Kirby and Mischamp. He was a good recruiter in the beginning, but his last year was absolute dog shit. Regardless, he was here from 2008-2010 and every year our D was top 10. He has a pretty good list of recruits he's landed - Byron Cowart five-star (2018) - Jordan Hicks five-star (2008) - Malaki Starks five-star (2022) - Marvin Jones, Jr five-star (2021) - Jaheim Singleterry five-star (2023) - Jalon Walker five-star (2021) - Demello Jones high four-star (2024) There are several more, but I just picked more recent ones to show he can still recruit.
