  1. The leader of the House and the Chancellor of the Exchequer look like they could lose, and that’d be amazing.
  2. Looks like Reform has taken an absolute fatal share out of the Tory vote. Hard to imagine the Conservative Party stays unified in the face of this and doesn’t descend into recriminations and civil war.
  3. The real race is for second. The LibDems have a puncher’s chance of becoming the Opposition.
  4. Nope. I mean, if that's the narrative you want to go with, then fine. But it's completely false.
  5. I think you want to shift your preferred track about 75 miles west, because you have Buchanan on the dry side of the storm.
  6. A) I don't think I'm particularly moderate. And I certainly would never purport to speak for any moderates, much less all of them. B) Literally any Democrat. Harris institutionally is best positioned. Great. Whitmer is probably the most compelling candidate. Love that. Newsom is likely the best debater. Yippee. Literally any of them. You could pull Beto O'Rourke out of political Siberia, and he'd absolutely have my unequivocal support.
  7. Yeah. And I'm sorry, but if you serve me a bowl of diarrhea for the soup course, I really don't care how fantastic the appetizer and the entree were. I'm putting that down as a pretty shitty meal.
  8. Is this just about the perfect scenario for the Highland Lakes?
  9. Wrong. The new president would appoint her own vice president, who would have to be confirmed by the Senate.
  10. What don't you get? Did you not watch the debate? And it's not just that. It's that a bunch of us very much feel lied to. We've all seen the attacks on Biden for the last year. We argued that they're all bullshit. And now it turns out that they're not bullshit. White House staff has been actively concealing Biden's cognitive decline; even now they're out there minimizing it. They're gaslighting us and telling us that we didn't actually see what we all know we saw. And on top of all that, we've now apparently got Hunter fucking Biden in the West Wing essentially acting as regent? I mean seriously--what on earth could you possibly not get?
  11. The announcing has been every bit as entertaining as the gameplay in this match. Austria isn't going to save Europe from the Saracens this time.
  12. We only do one major project at a time, and right now the indoor practice facility for football is next on the agenda. Only after that is done can we start talking about the Disch.
  13. This is corrupt.
  14. I think the under-reported revelation from the decisions of the past week is that bribery-for-pardons is pretty much completely legal, at least for the president being bribed. There's no question that the pardon power is a core constitutional presidential function. So what if he takes a payment in deciding how to exercise that function? For my part, I'm moving my money out of my "flee to a non-extradition country" fund and into my new "bribe Trump" fund.
  15. Roberts, C.J., in deep punt formation on immunity.
  16. Well, in the SEC SEC SEC, that’s not particularly notable.
  17. Looks like we set out every trophy from the past academic year on the South Mall. And that’s pretty cool. It’ll be pretty nice for some other programs in the Bog 12 to get to win a conference championship for a change.
  18. There is an option. There are always options. The question is whether the Democratic Party wants to explore an option that would enable it to win in November. Or whether it would prefer the option of least resistance, which will result in MAGA winning the White House, the House, and the Senate, which will confine women to second-class citizenry (if they're lucky), which will destroy our economy and standing in the world, and which will doom the Republic.
  19. But you have the Democratic Civil War you fear right now. Most of the party is in an uproar that this guy can't be our nominee. He's only our nominee because nobody runs against a sitting president. But he's the sitting president because he was elected in 2020 as a guy who is vastly different from the guy that exists today. And frankly, we weren't aware of the guy who exists today until last night. But now that we see the switch now that we've swallowed the bait, quite a lot of the party isn't fucking happy. So sitting here and saying "we can't ditch Biden because we'll have a civil war" strikes me as akin to if Lincoln had said after Fort Sumter "we can't send federal troops into Virginia because we'll have a Civil War." Sorry, Abe--Civil War already dun got declared. The only question is whether we're going to resolve it before November.
  20. If he croaks tomorrow, then Harris is POTUS and would presumably be the nominee.
  21. They're not legally bound. They're bound under the Rules of the Convention. Guess what a majority of the Convention can do--change the fucking rules. But that's not ideal. Far from it. That's why it would be far better for Biden to step down. But to do that, he needs to have people like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer in his ear telling him it's time to do that. And that doesn't seem to be happening right now. But were it to happen, I suspect he might agree. So no--there is currently no Plan B. But that just means we need to start figuring out a Plan B right fucking pronto.
  22. Well, he's behind. So further entrenching the status quo doesn't do him any good. You know what--fuck you. I sweatergawd you sound as fucking delusional as the biggest Q-Anon nutter. Things are not fucking fine. Biden is not in a good position, and that was a fucking disaster last night. I don't understand why so many Democrats out there seem bound and determined to deny reality.
  23. Then we shall die. Because that horse isn't carrying anyone. It is not impossible, and it's disingenuous to say otherwise. And to completely ignore the possibility in light of that performance last night is asinine.
  24. Under ordinary circumstances, yes. But we do not live in a universe filled with ordinary circumstances just now. We live in a universe in which the President of the United States took the stage--shuffled onto the stage, to be more accurate--and could not string together a cogent argument or manage a basic line of thought. We live in a universe in which the choice for president is purely binary; either the Democrat or the Republican is going to win. We live in a universe in which the Republican has promise to be a dictator from Day One, and his supporters are developing a very serious program that would make that a reality. These are extraordinary circumstances. Joe Biden needs to make an extraordinary decision to answer those extraordinary circumstances.
