  1. I suspect it's because MLB thinks it unlikely that Abreu intentionally threw at Garcia. But rescinding the suspension would undermine the on-field officials. So this is the best alternative. The should suspend Dusty Baker for not leaving the dugout in a timely fashion after he was ejected. He purposefully stayed in the dugout and forced the umpires to spend time talking to him in an (ultimately successful) effort to ice LeClerc. But realistically, suspending Baker for Game 7 would probably work to the Astros' benefit. So it all probably works out.
  2. The producer held it on that shot a bit longer than he should have.
  3. What do we want the score to be? Because we can name it.
  4. Well, then he’s going to have a long fucking day, because we’re looking pretty goddamned dominant in the early going.
  5. The UCF secondary needs to just start playing for the deflection.
  6. I can see the possible strategic value in ou winning. But I also see the definite comedy value in them losing to the fucking Citronauts.
  7. It has to be said—this is a bad game between two pretty mediocre offenses. And I really appreciate Joel Klatt trying to dress this up, but it is just wildly unentertaining.
  8. Wait--so if you die, we'll win a title? I'm just trying to understand your offer here.
  9. You're right that Corbyn's departure makes Labour a viable alternative. But let's not ignore the fact that the British people are eager for an alternative. There is now a pretty clear consensus among British voters that Brexit was a mistake. And it's pretty widely accepted that Brexit came about because the Tories--led by Boris Johnson--lied to the voters. So the Tories were always going to be vulnerable to the opposition.
  10. I mean, parliamentary democracy is democracy. Just ask the fine people in Tamworth and Mid Bedfordshire.
  11. Incidentally, Labour won the by-election yesterday in Tamworth and Mid Bedfordshire--both are flips from the Tories. Tamworth is particularly notable. It's in the West Midlands, and has been a safe Tory seat forever. On the Tory list, it is currently rated as the 55th safest constituency. And the loss wasn't particularly close--about 1,000 votes out of about 25,000 cast. If the Tories can't hold Tamworth, then they're looking at an absolutely catastrophic general election in a year. I mean, just . . . fuuuuuuck.
  12. Because the Biden impeachment nonsense actually works to the benefit of the Democrats.
  13. Ok--exactly what constitutional concerns? Seriously, I want a legal cite to the section of the Constitution that could even arguably be violated. Hint: there isn't one.
  14. In the earlier bits of the Revolution, there was a brief time during which there were real proposals for the George III to retain sovereignty over the Colonies while restricting Parliament's authority. The proposal was about 90 years ahead of its time--it was essentially the formula that was followed with the 1867 North America Act that created the Dominion of Canada. Anyway, I think of that frequently these days as we repeatedly demonstrate the superiority of the parliamentary form of government. And really, it's never to late to admit a mistake. Rescind the Declaration of Independence, and have the Republicans notify the King that they cannot form a government so that he can dissolve Congress and call a general election.
  15. It really is virtually impossible to convert office space to residential, for a number of reasons. I mean, look around your office, and you'll probably notice a few. In your home, you want pretty much every room to have natural light. But an office building of any size has massive amounts of interior space. So unless you've got an odd sized or shaped office building, you're going to have to pretty much sell off an entire floor or half a floor to an individual apartment. And then there are practicalities. Offices aren't built with the types of firebreaks you need for residential construction. The elevator banks and staircases are typically in a spot that isn't ideal (or even practical) for residential. And they don't have water connections sufficient to support a residential use.
  16. Wow—there were clutch moments throughout that game. They’re still shitty, tho.
  17. It’s unreal that we have played only one home game, and we’re still undefeated in the postseason.
