  1. It kind of ricocheted off the elbow pad to hit him in the side underneath the ribs. So it could be that. But the way he was holding his arm kind of indicated it was the elbow.
  2. I couldn't tell what's injured. Is it his elbow where he got hit? I thought the body armor would've absorbed that.
  3. Well, this little experiment is going well.
  4. Just back from a trip. We stayed over on the west side, but we did make it up to Haleakala the first morning for the sunrise (the first morning is the time to do it, when your body is still on Central Time). On the way down, we hit up the Kula Lodge for breakfast. We liked it so much, we ended up going back for dinner later in the week. I highly recommend, particularly for anybody who is a fan of beef wellington. I gotta tell you--Mama's Fish House was good, but overrated for what it is.
  5. We don't have time to nurse kids along. We have two weeks to decide how much bullpen help we need to go out and acquire at the deadline. If we have that help available within the organization, then we need to know that now. So I'm a huge fan of throwing him into a high-pressure situation straight away. Now let's just get some runs.
  6. Boy, that would be nice. I have dreams of seeing Ohtani in a Rangers uniform, but I don't think it's going to happen. So the best thing in the alternative may be for the Angels just to hold him and get nothing.
  7. Is there any more demoralizing way to lose for a pitcher than a walkoff WP?
  8. I'm sure that's right. But my point is that ad revenue should be much higher because of streaming. I just don't understand why any advertiser would buy an over-the-air ad and not a streaming ad (particularly on a station with a signal that is as weak as the Ticket). To @sasquatch69's point above, that seems like a failure of the sales department. But it seems to be a phenomenon across the industry.
  9. I really don't get the monetization for separate content. The Ticket always says that they have more streaming listeners than any other radio station. That's great. Good for them. But they can't seem to sell ads on their stream. There are times when they just play some 10-second instrumentals for 30 or 60 seconds because of a lack of ads. And that's really wild to me, because as a listener, it's very easy for me to switch stations on the radio when ads come on. I just hit one button on my car steering wheel to switch to the next preset station. It's a lot harder for me to change stations while streaming. So more often than not, I just suffer through the ads while streaming--something I would never do while listening to over-the-air radio. And by the way--this isn't just a phenomena with the Ticket. I've noticed this same thing while streaming Rangers and Stars games on Bally's. And yes--I'll acknowledge that Cumulus and Bally's are not the best-run companies in the sports-entertainment space. But ESPN streaming also has a lot fewer advertisers than its cable/satellite service. And I just really don't understand that.
  10. And that's what Moreno has said he wants to have happen. But as a playoff spot becomes less and less likely, one wonders how long that façade will hold.
  11. On the upside, the possibility of the Angels trading Ohtani is going up.
  12. So what the fuck is going on here: The dude look like he should be able to bench 300 pretty easily. But here he is unable to do 9 pushups. Help me out.
  13. Ukraine needs to Storm Shadow the shit outta that Wagner convoy as it heads back towards Ukraine.
  14. It’s the model used by Caesar and the XIII Legion. With a small force, you can resupply off local sources and move so quickly that you don’t give your adversary time to organize. They really could be in Moscow in two days if the MOD can’t organize a defense. And what have we seen from the Russian Army that would give anyone any confidence that it could organize a defense in 48 hours?
  15. Peyote can say that he's only going against Shogun right now and that he's not challenging Putin. But I've read enough medieval history to know that's what they always say. And yeah--Russia is a medieval culture and society that is unfortunately nuclear armed. But yeah--guys like Henry Bolingbroke invade and say "I'm not challenging the king; I'm just defending my dukedom." And that last right up until their army defeats the king's. And then suddenly there's a "oh, yeah--I'm going to be king after all." Peyote is coming after Shogun, sure. But he's also coming after Pootie-Poot. Oh, and my next band is going to be named Peyote Shogun.
  16. Because the Navy thought it’d be funny to send the Coast Guard out to search for an imploded submersible.
  17. Goddamn, that was funny. For those that missed it: Fake Norm: Andy, do you know what "retire" means? Andy Panda: Is it when you go across the street and start a spite station? I have to say, I don't listen to a lot of Ticket these days, so I may have missed some of the discussion. But is that the most overt reference to the other station that anybody has done on the Ticket? For the most part, they just seem to ignore it.
  18. Well, ok. But a couple years ago, I started using the term "the Tyranny of the Judiciary" for a reason. The Supreme Court is acting exactly as a tyrant would. It is accountable to nobody. It has no electoral or popular legitimacy. It operates primarily for its own benefit and enrichment. The irony is that tyrants are usually smart enough to restrict the people's access to weapons. But the judicial tyrant is being paid by people who really think guns are nifty. So that's interesting. And in this society that is heavily armed exactly because of the decisions of the judicial tyrant, one shouldn't be surprised if the judicial tyrant gets what thus always comes to tyrants.
