The ACC posted their big welcome to SMU, Cal, and Stanford this morning, but the PAC schools aren't in until August 1. The Big XII social media this morning just removed OU and Texas. Just seems really weird to me that ACC would jump the gun. If SMU is official as of today, why not just give them the spotlight?

SMU to the ACC is the equivalent of someone being an unpaid intern at this point.

Faraimo is a beast.  I'd take Faraimo given the choice after watching both their tapes online.  With that said, not sure we can pry him away from ND.

I tend to agree. I was skeptical when i started hearing the whispers on Faraimo as a legit target, but the kid looks like he has the goods to be a great player. If we can make a real run at him, I would be totally happy with a class of him and Barnes.

I had this conversation with a buddy who is really, really handwringing right now about Moore to Oregon. If that dude wants to go play in Oregon for QB money, Texas can and likely will choose to match. Of Texas doesn’t do what is required to land Moore, you can knock me over with a feather. Sarkisian wants him worse than anyone else in the recruitment. Compare that to other situations and it tells a story, certainly.

As much as we have been hammering Sark for this cycle, we absolutely ponied up for Collin Simmons, Moore, and Anthony Hill the year before. Plus we signed a stellar DB class last cycle. When there is a true difference maker on defense, I am still confident that we will do what we need to do.

Welcome to yokelville where homophobia increases your manful manliness quotient.

This guy adds an astute observation.

I get the feeling this guy wasn't a combat soldier but wants to sound as though he's on a recon in enemy territory.

    Same guy, very next post

Black T shirt. No Aggie gear. Undercover in enemy territory risking heckling should he be found out. This is a land where nobody cares if you can't find the gigantic stadium. Nary a Howdy! Alone on a stealthy bike. Furtive. Coiled like a cobra. Barely got out. Area scoped out; ready for larger incursion in uniform. Iraq2xvet RTB but ready!

Yeah, I can't really see this guy covering a sector from a rolling Humvee. (I saw Generation Kill, I think that is probably closer to action than ol' Two Times up there). Congressional Medal of Ugly for this guy (Yeah, I did some time in the 'Nam by seeing Full Metal Jacket.)

I am sure belly crawled right past the port-a-potties, did a combat roll under the guard gate and road blocks, and skirted the walls on his way to the bud light tent. All the time prepared to call in air support in case Sip captured him and sent him to re-education camp.

I’m not sure I follow your train of thought. The argument that Texas has the better approach over let’s say Oregon because it will yield team first guys instead of mercenaries has not been proven anywhere yet. My Georgia example was meant to show players who care about money only who are also talented do not kill team chemistry and can still build champions.

This theory of not going after guys who want to talk NIL first is just that so far. A theory. Sark could end up being totally wrong about it. Time will tell. But you speak of it like it’s been proven already to be the right approach and there is no way to know that today,

Look, this isn't rocket science. If Oregon is in a recruit's top 3 schools, then you had better be very fucking careful when they really decide to push the gas pedal. They are one of the few schools that can stand toe to toe with Texas on the raw NIL dollars front, and they have some unique things to offer with their ties to Nike. If they swoop in Jimbo style at the last second and make ridiculous offers, then you need to adjust your strategy to account for that. All of the schools adjusted their approaches after that 2021 season and sunk A&M from that point forward. Oregon is overpaying right now because they really want a presence in Texas, and they were also not going to let a relatively local elite DL recruit get away from them with a top 2026 HS QB teammate that they are targeting. I would imagine we are going to have to fend them off in a big way for Moore and a few other recruits in this cycle. If we want to keep them out of Texas then we need to slap them down on principal, but ironically, we would also need A&M to do the same and I don't think they are in position to do that.

Lmao… what a kick in the nuts.  Oregon just swoops in and takes the recruit being in 3rd place.  Well, maybe that leaves us with more money to give to Brown and Charles.  Hell, just pony up and pay Zion just to fuck with Bo at this point.  If LSU is as broke as people here claim, that should be an easy win….

Head on a swivel gentlemen. I think they caught us sleeping on this one. Hopefully Sark gets pissed and goes full NIL Hulkamania on DL recruiting.

Colorado, who finished 124 of 133 FBS schools last year in team defense, gets ranked #20 defense?

Clemson at #10 on offense and Colorado at #20 on defense is certainly a choice.

    My beautiful darlings.

I got to hang yesterday afternoon with my boy, Quinn Ewers. This is now the third summer I have been blessed to spend a little time with him.

He is such a nice young man. He's quiet, really personable and will represent any franchise well at the next level.

He looks a little taller to me, but maybe I am shrinking.

Dude has a cannon for an arm. He made some amazing throws.

This year, I brought two footballs for him to sign to go along with my Longhorn QB collection. Collect 'em all! I'm keeping one, but stay tuned for Surly news about the other one. It could involve you!

    Cheers!

Speaking of which, Bud Elliot put out his blue chip ratio.

    https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/blue-chip-ratio-2024-these-16-college-football-teams-can-actually-win-the-national-championship/

Enough talk, show me the list

    SCHOOLBCR

    Ohio State 90%

    Alabama 88%

    Georgia 80%

    Texas A&M 79%

    Oregon 76%

    Oklahoma 73%

    Texas 72%

    LSU 70%

    Notre Dame 67%

    Clemson 64%

    Florida  63%

    Miami 61%

    Penn State 61%

    USC 59%

    Michigan 56%

    Auburn 53%

He starts discussing it at about the 32:40 mark.

How is Texas A&M still at a 79% ratio after the mass exodus they had in the spring? They were backfilling with a bunch of Sunbelt guys.

I wouldn't read into Texas not getting those guys because they've been moved to "maybe".

Regarding Petitjohn, it looks like it comes down to whether or not Texas feels like they've flipped Faraimo. If they don't see it, they will likely make a major push to close Petitjohn. Might be wrong, but it's reading like that, and that Ohio State has made a big push for Petitjohn and that entails having to step up on NIL to get him.

On Fasusi, he's the OT version of Dominick McKinley from a "does he love football" end of things. OU's hosts took him out at night and did some wild shit and that has him enamored. Texas wants the dude regardless and there is UT support in his camp.

I think landing Brooks is a big fucking deal if they do that, and that would offset a Fasusi loss. You'd like to have both, no doubt. Fasusi is good enough to still wind up in the NFL even if he's got higher priorities than pancaking DEs.

I think the Rogers recruitment gets really interesting if Fasusi really starts trending away from Texas.

Petitjohn would be a weird fade at this point since Texas was on him so heavily through the Spring and Summer. Do they honestly like Faraimo that much more or would it just be allocation of resources related?

This is the first I have heard of Fasusi being potentially a football second guy. Granted I never knew much about the kid either way, but anyone that may or may not have gotten into blue mountain state levels of partying on a visit may not be the right guy. I think Brooks is the better prospect either way and would welcome that take over Fasusi if we can land him. I know it may be handwringing, but I would take John Turntine in 2026 over both of them. Maybe landing neither is a clearer path for him?

“S-E-C!” chant confirmed to be in the game from the sights & sounds deep dive today. That’s one time where I wish they wouldn’t have gone for real world accuracy.

I sincerely hope we don't do that, but there are enough knuckle draggers in the stands that it might be inevitable.

A couple of my Aggie friends are blowing me up telling me it’s a dick move to poach their coach. I asked “So it wasn’t a dick move when you poached him from TCU?  Don’t be mad that he’s taking his dream job.  People don’t leave Texas to go to A&M unless they were fired.  But people will leave anywhere to come to Texas.  You just found out the hard way.”
