  1. That shit happens at every level. Teams bust pass protections, coverages, blocking schemes.
  2. That depends on what team you go to in the NFL. If all NFL OLs were good at pass pro the bust rate on QBs would be near 0
  3. that really shouldnt have been such a big deal, but Quinn struggles with his gap escapes and in this case his feet. Just saying both players get a D+/C-.
  4. Not sure anyone said Williams was better. This is what I meant about my "switching from MSNBC to FOx" statement (edited after your response). Not sure why every play has to be Quinn was awesome/someone else sucks or he is completely incompetent/everyone else is great. Sometimes it takes 2 guys not being on point to screw up a play
  5. YOu keep saying Quinn isnt perfect, but you expect everyone else to be perfect. Cam got beat for moment and was too deep, but he recovered and had that guy locked up. Wasnt ideal but take a few calm steps and that is all good. Tripping over his own feet made that a much worse situation. It's OK to critic both players. This place is like switching from MSNC to Fox.
  6. He could have handed that one off, not a fake hand off. Pre-snap that is a hand off. Assume he sees the blitz and doesnt. Not sure why he didnt just throw it at the feet of the WR, cant take that sack. WR also has to see the blitz and make an adjustment, though I havent seen a WR adjust to the Cb blitz the last 2 games. Poor play by Quinn and the WR.
  7. Did he really pick a play from the 11 yard line to talk about where the Safeties were playing?
  8. I think that is the ADOT (average depth of target). Ewers is at 7.4 per attempt (65th) and Manning at 9.3.. Texas averages 12.35 per reception
  9. Lot of talk how Baxter looked much better in camp, but we will never know. I am not sure Blue or Wisner are even 200 pounds and both listed at 6'. They just arent built to pound. That's one reason I would like to see more Gibson after the bye. Games like Georgia and A&M are going to require a back that can take and give some punishment. I typically dont love big RBs, but there is a time and place for them. I would also add that the play book looks a lot different when Arch is the QB. There is a lot of work for the offense during the bye week.
  10. Its the latter. Sark is making that a black and white question. There is a different between having your QB have the lowest ADOT in the P5 and going mad bomber. Even the intermediate game has largely disappeared. That offensive game plan isnt transferrable vs higher end defenses.
  11. I dont think Sark has a legitimate choice. You have to have some balance in the offense. I thought it was noticeable in the Vanderbilt game that Sark was committed to running, especially early (that is not usually a huge factor in his opening script). You can argue his best calls were the 2 runs on 3rd down (think 3rd 6 and 3rd and 9). I think Sark is doing the best he can to try and get Ewers to look like pre-injury Ewers. He was definitely trying to protect him and restore his confidence early in that Vandy game.
  12. 100%. There is better shit for the pro-Arch to come up with than a deep ball was throw a couple yards short, but catchable. Most deep shots are going to require some adjustment. I dont see the college numbers, but anything over 40% is elite in the NFL. Next Gen Stats' top 10 NFL deep passers of 2022: Geno Smith, Tua Tagovailoa excel at airing it out
  13. Too early to tell. He was rocketing up draft boards until Georgia. Now moving the wrong way. He could rebound with strong finish.
  14. Texas definitely ran well enough vs Vandy. Texas ran for 3.8 vs Georgia that might have looked better, if Texas was able to stick with the run game.
  15. One criticism of the Wr room is they seem to make 0 adjustments to the CB blitz. Dont see much reaction at all to it.
  16. it wasnt that bad. Actually brought 5 rushers out of the 3 DL look, if I recall. The only one I hated was the double spy look on 3rd and 10 (bringing 2 in the rush). I believe that was the only one he brought less than 4 on that drive, but I didnt go back and look.
  17. Switch RB rooms with Georgia and the Texas run game gets much better
  18. Not excusing Majors, but that was not easy. Vandy brought double A gap blitz from the ILBs. #10 came on the delay. Majors helped the guard on #4 blitzing (who went right Majors by design) and came off late to get a piece on #10 (right A/B gap). With RG widening out with the DT, it left a lot of room for the delay blitz. Nice cut by the RB to avoid contact with #10 on the play. I dont think he has much pass protection responsibility on that, but being a football player would have been helpful there (not easy though).
  19. This is was true. Scip put out the intermediate numbers and they are troubling. Ewers was completing ~69% of his intermediate throws, which represented ~29% of his attempts last year. This year it is ~50% and represented just 16% of attempts since coming back. The intermediate game was Ewers' great asset last year. It has oddly disappeared this year.
  20. He definitely took a step forward from OU and Georgia, which was likely. His pocket presence is still a bit sketch at times. I think there needs to be a lot of work done on the offense during the bye. Here is the biggest reason. Pts per drive allowed: OU: 1.39 10th Georgia: 1.66 24th Vandy: 2.51 91st Florida: 2.25 75th Ark: 1.97 49th Kentucky: 1.98 52nd A&M: 1.76 31st The 27 pts vs Vandy was not good. Only Kentucky, Alcorn St, and Ball State scored less vs Vandy. That is a Vandy team that turned the ball over twice all season. They turned it over 3 times vs Texas. I believe the defense has created 6 turnovers the last 2 games and the offense has 10 pts off those. That offensive performance is probably enough vs Florida and Kentucky. It probably isnt enough for Arkansas and A&M.
  21. Not his kind of game. That is an offense you need a lot of discipline from your edges to beat. That isn’t Simmon’s wheelhouse right now. Pavia would have went under him every time he got too far upfield
  22. RB is a big part of that. They aren’t very good between the tackles and Texas hasn’t run much inside. RB pass blocking is a roll of the dice
  23. There is some nuance to that. I was hard on Ewers after OU and Georgia, but this was a bit different. Texas was behind the chains the vast majority of the 2nd half. I think Texas committed 6 penalties on the 4Q alone, most on offense. 2 and 20 is not a good for an OL or a QB. You are just asking the DC to come up with the craziest in his playbook. The offense put itself in a really tough position to succeed in the 2nd half. It was generally fine when it was on schedule. Doesn’t mean everything is good, but certainly puts the 2nd half into perspective
