  1. I have said this is probably the biggest game in Quinn's career. He has to show something and he has to do it in the 1st half. Leash is much smaller today then it was 3 weeks ago
  2. This is the correct point. Its not like he just had a day where his accuracy was off and he faced pressure. It was a complete breakdown of his fundamentals. This is 2 games in a row. He faced pressure, but he probably created about 50% of it (random guess) with poor pocket presence. This is more about how he has looked, than the stats. Sark is former Qb, he did not want to bench Quinn. Last thing he wanted was to introduce the idea of Arch starting to the fan base. It was that bad. To be honest outside a brief moment in the 3Q, it really did not get better. The 4Q was brutal also.
  3. Vandy does not have the speed to play with Texas skill players. They are not a team that gets after the QB. This should be a game, where Quinn unfucks himself. But until that actually happens, I am not taking anything for granted.
  4. Right now I only care about the Vanderbilt game. I dont care about the draft. Care less about predictions people made about a player 2 years ago. I am just hoping he fixes whatever the fvck it is that is the root of his issues and plays well vs Vanderbilt, so I dont have to go through a bottle of bourbon watching a tight game. (Vandy is the SECs version of KSU. QB going to run around and they are going to bleed the clock, unless you can get up early on them)
  5. Baxter definitely would have helped. His biggest contribution might have come without the ball though. Guy was teh best pass blocker last year. He would be a massive step up from Wisner and Blue in that regard.
  6. Irony of this is OU and Georgia mostly sat back with 2 deep safeties to protect their CBs from the deep ball, so I am not sure how applicable this is to what we are seeing.. People are not walking up and daring Texas to throw deep. Quinn still needs to get his shit together, but the deep ball has not affected the way defenses play Texas
  7. At this point there is no perfect answer. I will say I like that Arch was stepping up to throw. His mistakes are correctable. Does not take a lot of scrambles to realize you cant out-run NFL Lbs like it is High School.
  8. 2 things. I liked it. I thought decent work of disguising it. More to the point, I think that was part of Kirby's game prep. Knowing where Sark/Quinn like to attack and putting a little twist to try and take advantage of their propensity to hammer the flats early. Rarely, do DCs game plan for the flats. It is usually an area of the field you are OK giving up and just rallying to make it a short gain.
  9. Damn it, RPO does not rely on QB running the ball. The vast majority of RPO's involve a hand off with a pass attached. 2ndly, the Texas run game was not that bad vs Georgia. The issue might have been how little Texas ran. Taking out the QBs, Texas had 17 carries for 64 yards. That is 3.76 per. Not great, but that might have increased if Sark tested it. The opening drive started out with 4 runs for 16 yards. The next drive 4 for 17. 1st 2 drives were at 4.1. Georgia response probably killed any chance of sticking with the run, but I suspect Sark wishes he ran the ball more throughout the game.
  10. I think it is time to adjust the opening script to get a little more balanced run/pass. You have a struggling QB and seems every opening script is 60/70% pass. I think the only time Sark got to around 50% was Arch's first start. I feel like the most unexpected thing Sark could is to start with 2 inside runs on the opening series
  11. The Arch sack prior to the strip sack was a bad Sack.. Arch made a freshmen decision to try to out-run a NFL LB. He needed to just throw that away. The interesting thing was I am pretty sure the sack was made by the spy. That is a big advantage for Arch. By the 2nd drive Georgia went to a spy.
  12. That is a nasty play by the Georgia defender, great disguise. I am going to guess this was part of Kirby's game prep. It begs the question is the book on Sark/Ewers written. Seems the world is aware that Sark likes to get Ewers going with the quick game in the flats early. Teams are going to prep for that.
  13. There are 2 parts to recovering from an injury. 1st part is being medically recovered. The 2nd part is mental, to where you trust your body. Hard to know where Quinn is that recovery, but I definitely know Quinn is throwing almost exclusively with is arm.
  14. Blocking has been an issue among all the Rbs this year. Gibson is the worst of the group, but that is basically being the shortest midget.
  15. This is not how Sark's RPO offense works. The R is a hand off 99% of the time, it is not a QB run.

    TEXAS QB TALK

Its crazy to think that it may be time to move on from Quinn. He has done a lot a good for the program. The main reason to stick with an older player is consistency. You should have a pretty good idea of what you are going to get from a 3rd year starter. Every player will have his highs and lows throughout a season. You expect wild moves from 1st starters. The variation should be much smaller in a 3rd year starter. Right now it feels impossible to know what you will get from Ewers. Will he look like early season Quinn or the last 2 games? The last 2 games have been poor freshmen QB level play. PFF has him graded lower than DJ Uiagalelei currently. Michigan was playoff QB level. IF Quinn can not right the ship this week and play a solid 1st half, I think it is time to go to Arch. Quinn can be a distributor, but he is not really a play maker. Arch can give you play making. If the offense is going to go into games with question marks at QB, might as well go with the play maker. It sounds insane to say about a QB that has started conference championship games and in the playoffs, but I think this Vanderbilt game may be the biggest game of Quinn's life. Perform well and the last 2 games will be blown off as injury related, play like he has the last 2 weeks and he might be handing the football to Arch. I hope we see early season Quinn.
  17. It reminds me more of Chuck Knoblach. Ewers has shown he can be elite. I don’t think anyone could have predicted this regression after coming off a minor injury. It’s like he had forgotten the lessons of the last 2.5 seasons
  18. I think it was Mykell Williams, who was projected 1st round pick and this was his first game back. he is a freak
  19. I said the same. Ewers is the starter, but I think Vandy could be his last stand. Reason to play Ewers over Manning is command of the offense and consistency. Manning is going to make freshman mistakes, like trying to beat an NFL Lb to the sideline and taking a 10 yard loss. If Ewers is continues to imitate his freshman self, Sark will go with Arch. Who has no problem firing the ball deep, taking a shot throwing the ball, and adds a running element to the offense.
  20. It was the one in the 4th Q.. Edge got around Banks and knocked the ball out of Quinn’s hand as he was cocking back to throw
  21. I think Sark showed his hand. I don’t think Quinn will have a long leash this week.
  22. Pretty sure the sack on Banks was on the fumble by Ewers on 4th down
  23. Sarkisian noted that it wasn’t an ideal situation for his offensive line to be in, although of the seven sacks allowed by the Longhorns, PFF only credited two to the line, one each for Banks and junior right tackle Cam Williams.
  24. I wouldn’t go that far. Georgia was winning the one on ones. 1 of the biggest differences in this game was all the check downs Quinn has been doing that have gone for 7-8 yards or maybe a Helm hurdle were going for -1 to 2 yards. Georgia secondary was physical and their LBs can scoot and tackle. Quinn was bad, but that doesn’t mean the OL or any Unit on offense was good. Throw in some terrible special teams that cost poor field position all game and you get the disaster we saw
  25. This is the problem with the internet. You can be honest about changes in performance and not lock yourself into a position based on something you said 3 months ago. I would argue Ewers has the highest volatility of any QB in the nation this year. He had great moments (Michigan) and bad moments (OU and Georgia). The issue the last 2 weeks Quinn has not looked uncomfortable. He isn’t stepping up in the pocket or into his throws. He he has been bailing on clean pockets and he has poor escape routes. Escaping out the back is reserved for Lamar Jackson’s of the world. You can not snap a ball from the 11 and have your QB in the end zone. Tackles are expecting him at spot to throw the ball. When he goes deeper it plays straight into speed rushers
