  1. That was not really what was called for, so I don’t get this argument. A QB taking over a game would imply winning in a shootout or having multiple 4Q TD drives. That is not the same as needing 17 over the course of a game.
  2. I talked to Sark. Keep this on the down low, but the Playoff Redzone package will be Arch at Qb and Ant Hill at RB..
  3. Clemson has forced 12 turnovers the last 5 games. Moffa's injury has killed their run game. Klubnick is going to play Sam Elhinger ball against us (30+ pass attempts and 10-15 rushing). I dont see them capable of dinking and dunking down the field consistently. They need to hit Wesco on explosives. Texas defense is really good at limiting explosives, so good luck. If Texas plays a clean game, this will be a relaxing watch.

  5. did you miss this?
  6. I thought it died last year when Texas made the playoffs. I pretty sure it died this year when Texas was the only team to make the playoffs the last 2 years. That kind of seems like back.
  7. Games like this is where you really miss Bijan. He had the ability to set up blocks and make OL right. Definitely a couple runs, Texas could have gotten more out of the blocking. One theory I have seen thrown around is Texas is too diverse in their run game. Usually teams specialize in something like OZ. Texas is running everything, which has its benefits, but it also highlights they dont have that go to play.
  8. Come on. The 4 players on the LOS are #13 Mykel Williams (265), #92 Dawkins (280), #11 Walker (245), and #10 Wilson (250). You have #3 Allen (LB) and #2 Mondon (LB) completing the 6 man box. That is not an honest run front and why would it be on 3rd and 27. Similar to PK's pass rushing specialist package. They subbed out a DL to bring in an extra LB. Its 2 DL, 4 Lbs, and 5 DBs. Shows you how Kirby feels about his LBs.
  9. That is a nice catch. That is the trap/wham block I was looking for. Gunnar makes the WHAM block. Ear holed him. That is nice way to create favorable angles for Gunnar to execute. (WHAM block is just using the H-Back/FB to trap to a DL) Here it is Here it is is time stamped
  10. Thats the look. You cant see the other safety. Both are at 16-17 yards deep. Georgia looks to be in the cover 2 man, they ran in the majority of passing situations Taking that run out and it is about 3 yards a carry on 20 carries. That is not good. 14 of the 20 carries (to RBs) went for 2 or less yards. I doubt it, but do you have the success rate on inside runs? (hoping from the same source). I am guessing it was quite low. Point being that neither run concept provided any kind of consistency success and kept Texas in front of the chains. Not saying inside runs were not better, but more the tallest midget.
  11. I wont argue with the last statement. The inside running is inflated by the 15 yard run on 3rd and 27. Georgia conceded that one with a very light box in obvious pass situation. Before someone says you cannot take out the longest run because that is how averages work, there is difference between breaking a run and defense conceding the run. If you take that play out Texas ran the ball 20 times (by RBs) and gained 3 or more yards 7 times. 13 runs of 2 or less yards. If we look at 1st down runs. Texas ran it 14 times on 1st down by my count. They gained over 3 yards 4 times (including Manning's 5 yard run). That is a 27% success rate. Basically a passing situation on 2nd down 73% of the time. That is not good.
  12. This is a good OL, but there is a reason Sark has changed his offense. He came in an inside zone guy. There was talk early that he need IZ to work for his RPO scheme. He has moved to OZ adnd adjusted his scheme because he knows the interior of the OL are not mashers. They are better on the move walling defenders off, than displacing defenders off the LOS. Very few OLs that can do everything. Asking them to go downhill at Georgia is a great discussion for the chalk board, but it is like wondering why WRs screens dont work when Bond is asked to block. (this one reason why I am very curious to see what the OL/run game looks like next year. I dont think they will be better overall, but they may be better drive blockers)
  13. The answer is pretty simple. #1 the guards got absolutely worked vs Georgia in both games. Hard to run anything when your interior OL gets manhandled. Spreading them out might have worked, but I think that is more likely wish casting. Georgia has 14 TFLs. 8 from true DL. I dont know a scheme that works in that environment. #2 Georgia has arguably the best group of LBs in the country and they can move. There is a play where it appears Wisner is looking for the cut back, but the play has a chance if he presses the run outside. That turned into a TFL, because of the athleticism of the Georgia LB. # 3 Depth. Texas has not been a team that has shown they can consistently run the ball under Sark (there are a couple games, but those are the exception). It usually starts out with a heavy dose of passing. As the game progresses the run game finds its groove. That usually coincides with DL tiring. Georgia can bring waves of DL at you. I did watch the game and want to see more empty sets. I also wanted to see some quick hitting traps/wham blocks, maybe ear holing a DT would slow their penetration down. It is not something you see very often anymore.
  14. Quinn's greatest asset is his accuracy in the short game. He throws screens and swing passes better than Arch based on what we saw in 2 games. Quinn puts a very high percentage on that front shoulder. Slants and crossers can be argued. . His mid-range game had been very good up until this year. It has been much more inconsistent. Deep ball is an issue.
  15. no, but both played their asses off.
  16. I get the sentiment, but Elhinger and Taaffe would like a word with you.
  17. It will be and Klubnick playing hero ball is Clemson's best path to a win. They have talent at receiver. I think the defense can limit that. The one issue that worries me is turnover margin. Clemson is #5 in the country. They are #8 at causing turnovers (25). 9th in turnovers lost (9). Texas has a positive turnover margin, but that is based on defense being unreal. Texas is is tied for #1 with ND in turnovers gained with 28, but 114th in turnovers lost with 22. IF the offense takes care of the ball, I see Texas winning. One thing I have not seen mentioned, Clemson is 14th in yards/rush allowed in the ACC at 4.56 per. That is 90th in the country. If Texas can establish the run game and limit turnovers, this should be a comfortable win.
  18. Are you saying Texas is the only team that throws crossing routes, slants, posts, etc? This is silly Sark also does a lot of things to make things easy on Quinn. 43% of his throws are Play action . 18% of his throws are screens. 12% are RPOs. That leaves only ~25% of his throws being pure drop back.
  19. Texas 23 clemson 13 279 yards
  20. Playing the man, not the hand
  21. Saw quite a few stalk and go type routes from Texas in this game. Fake the screen blocking and then run a route. Moore’s score was on that If it didn’t time stamp it, it’s is at 26:15 mark. Sark is good for 1-2 of these a game.
  22. Whole line of thinking is stupid. Like receivers and OL didn’t make plays to gain that yardage. Only TD was Moore making someone miss on nice play call. We are supposed to pretend that was all Quinn? I thought YAC yards were around 125-150 in this game (can’t remember the exact figure). Receivers get 0 credit on that?
  23. Just my opinion, but Georgia’s game plans and play calling were elite vs Texas. Georgia was multiple. They would mix their calls at an elite level. You would see a run call. You would pass rush stunts on 1st down. I don’t know if they found a couple tells or they just have a really good feel for Sark the play caller. I am not saying there were not plays to be had, but it was very rare that Sark caught Georgia in the wrong defense
  24. You are so dug in and invested in this, that you are incapable of seeing it. The slightest criticism of Quinn and you respond by blaming anyone and everyone around him. At minimum you are no better than what you are claiming posters are doing to Quinn.
  25. This is true. My biggest issue with Quinn. Is the turnover rate and turnover worthy plays. That is one of the biggest issues facing Texas currently. Quinn had been pretty good in that regard historically, but since coming back it has been bad.
