  1. How many stud DT are in the portal every year? Maybe 1 or 2? How many has Texas won so far? It’s very hard to find All-conference type players in the portal. It is arguably the hardest position to find in the portal. That is part of the reason that a kid playing in his 2nd or 3rd football game ever has most the SEC begging him to come to their school.
  2. If he goes 100-100 with 25 tds the next 3 games (that includes OU), not only will I say he should be the starting QB, I will write him in on my Presidential ballot
  3. Arch is definitely a better athlete. They claimed he hit 20.7 mph on his TD run. I do think Arch will eventually surpass Ewers, but that day is at least a year or 2 down the road. Arch was a little slower to process reads. Missed the blitz. Not surprising for a kid getting his first real action. Arch will likely get there, but his ability to read defenses is behind Quinn’s right now. I hate to see Ewers injured. It’s never good to lose a starting QB, but if it had to happen this was perhaps the best time for it. Arch getting some live bullets has the potential to really help this team down the road
  4. Not been talked about much, but I think Scottie Hazelton is contributing to the staff. He has been around block. He is now coaching the NBs. At a minimum that has lessened the load for Gideon and Joseph. Secondary looks to be communicating at a much higher level this year compared to the last few. I would not be surprised if he is a sounding board for PK and Nansen
  5. This is exactly why you take some portal guys. They took portal guys, because they did not want to risk the season on players that have not seen the field much. Texas is trying to compete for championships, it would be insanely stupid not to get some insurance in the portal. Again that can change over the course of the season but based on current rotations it would be Dabo Sweeny type shit to not bring in a couple DTs next year.
  6. Its not stupid. If it was stupid Texas would not haven taken 3 portal DL this year. The coaches realized it was an issue. All of those guys you mentioned were at least rotational pieces before they broke out. The younger Dts are not really in the rotation, so its a big risk to rely on them to be starters next year. We will see how the season plays out, maybe someone emerges, but as of right now it is almost a lock that Texas brings in a couple DTs for next year. This class is highly unlikely to fix any issues in the 2025 season.
  7. havent watched but he is 3rd in tackles on the team.
  8. Georgia is ridiculously stacked at DL. They have 3 of the top 10 DL in the nation. 5 of the top 25. 24 of the top 200 DL in the nation. So you know there is going to be a bunch of under-rated kids, because the services dont want to over-represent 1 state.
  9. If national committed kids are calling Texas, I just hope it is a couple of the top 10 CBs. That is one part of the class that has not been addressed.
  10. This was a masterpiece by Sark. He hammered Michigan on the perimeter early (pass game and even a quick pitch). Getting Grant and Graham moving laterally and tiring them out. When Michigan subbed Grant and Graham out he went big and hit them on inside runs. Michigan brought in a DE that hadnt played, Sark runs a reverse at him. I am not sure Texas threw 1 pass at Will Johnson, but Sark targeted the LBs and Safeties with Helm. Ewers was just insane. This is arguably his best game. He was just in control from the start. Stepping up in the pocket and hitting WRs. Converting medium to long 3rd downs consistently. I am having a hard time thinking of another QB that would have performed like that on Saturday.
  11. What? Michigan had a scoring drive in the 1st half. That seems off or poorly written.
  12. I dont think Bijan ever committed to OSU. Lot of noise though
  13. I remember the tipped pass that went to Helm on 3rd down. Michigan fan behind me cursed and said "this is not our day" Michigan Rbs were OK. Mulings, Edwards, and Hall went 17 for 80 (4.7). Once Texas got out front by a few TDs, it was hard to stick to the 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Play calling was a stark difference. I remember a 3rd and 2 around the 40 for Michigan in the 1st half. I couldnt believe the went straight drop back with no play action, if you throw the ball. I expected them to run there with the idea that if they get 1 yard, they go for it on 4th. Went for a pick, Texas marched down, and the fat lady was warming up.
  14. Ewers was amazing. Texas was 10-16 on 3rd down and if I heard Scipio correctly the average distance was 7+ yards. That 1st half was probably 80%+ conversion rate. That is a testament to how well he played. IF that number was 35-40% (Texas was 38% last year on 3rd downs), it is a different game.
  15. They do. The whole Manning story is BS.
  16. Harbaugh doesn’t recruit to build college football dynasty. He is a great coach, but recruiting isn’t his thing. He is more Bill Synder, than Saban
  17. Michigan did exactly what people thought they would do. They blitzed. Sark had all summer to prepare for that. He abused them in the short game and Quinn was dealing. Obvious game plan was just a bad call
  18. Single Sark is svelte. Married Sark is fat.. You know what you need it do
  19. Michigan guys think Grant has the higher ceiling between the 2 (not the better player currently). He just hasnt consistently shown that. This play got a lot of pub.
  20. Grant and Graham are both projected to be 1st round guys. A new coach isnt going to really change that. To quote Charlie Strong the cake is baked. I think it takes a little while for the coaching affect to be seen. Biggest risk is at DC. MInter was great at mixing up fronts, coverages, and had ton of simulated pressures schemes that got home. Wink can can fall in love with blitzing. He is much more aggressive. He is more likely to bring true blitzes (5-6 rushers, instead of some the simulated pressures that bring 4 from various spots (Aranda type stuff if that helps).
  21. Losing Sainristil (2nd round) and Rod Moore out with injury. Keon Saab was penciled in as starter. He transferred and is starting at Bama. They liked DK Waller and he was supposed to compete for a job. He is now at Kentucky. I think the secondary has taken a a step back.
  22. If I remember correctly that Bama team mostly went man and gave Quinn easy reads. He lit them up (while he was in). Michigan is very good at mixing coverages, at least they were last few years. Michigan is better in the front. That Bama team was better in the back end. Michigan system is much more complex.
  23. He is going to be a guy that does well at the combine. He is a guy that you watch and just think this guy should be way better. Maybe one day he puts it together and hits his physical ceiling. Hope it isnt this week Strengths: Big-play speed Receiving playmaker Manufactured touches NFL size and build Concerns: Inconsistent vision Pass protection Open-field elusiveness https://www.thedraftnetwork.com/2024/06/13/donovan-edwards-scouting-report-nfl-draft#google_vignette
  24. The more I watch Edwards, the less a like him. I think he runs with blinders on and Scipio (I believe) said he is a head case. Apparently, if things dont start well he has been known to sulk on the bench. That said the guy is far from slow. He can make you pay, when they open up holes for him (if he finds them). Michigan can lull you to sleep and all of sudden Edwards pops off a big one.
