  1. Bobby and Gerry on the implications of Baxter injury
  2. always love the former top 10 stuff. HE got 8 whole carries last year at Utah and 12 the year before. I guess he is top 10 among the Utah RBs.
  3. This does put some concerns on blocking (blitz pick-up) and short yardage running (which was an issue last year).
  4. reports were he was banged up all year, but I agree. He is such an instinctive player and that is a huge part of playing Nickel. Feel like you lose that moving him to corner. That is not something you can always see in practice. The only real weakness on paper in the secondary is the corer spot opposite of Muhammad, perhaps they are just experimenting to see if they can build some depth. I tend to think this is more about figuring out rotations in the secondary and which players work well together. There were reports that Taffee and McDonald came out with the 1st team in one of the practices
  5. That does remind me of watching Worthy limp off the field like he was just shot, only to come back and fly by a CB the next series. He made my heart skip a few times last season.
  6. I dont think anyone is stating Sark will only use 3 WRs. Only real 4 man rotation Sark has run the last 5 years was that insane Bama group of DeVonte Smith, Jeudy, Ruggs, and Waddle in 2019. That was 4 first round WRs, so he will open it up for talent. 2020 Waddle only played 6 games and it was Smith, Metchie, and Bolden basically running the show after. Bolden didnt have a catch for the 1st 4 games that year. Granted at Texas, he just hasnt had a lot of talent to open it up, so it may not be the best data point. We will see how it plays out, but it seems unlikely to he uses a true 6 man rotation based on his history. Sounds like the discussion is around a 4-5 man rotation. The biggest factor will be if any or how many of the current group break out and become All-Conference type players. Personally, I hope it is a pretty tight rotation. If it is 4 man rotation, that probably means 2 of the group have become All-SEC type WRs. If it is 6 man rotation, that means nobody has elevated themselves.
  7. Sark may. He has been known to keep the rotations pretty tight. Going to be a lot of variables that go into this. I am sure Sark is hoping for a lot of comfortable victories, so he doesnt have to make the call. Its more about the delta between the WRs, than if they are starting worthy. If Bond can make good on early predictions that he is a 1st rounder, he isnt coming off the field. I like Wingo to make a move, because he brings a different body type than the rest.
  8. That is the real question. I would guess Moore is the most likely. There will likely be some time missed for injuries in the group. I would bet on Wingo play time increasing as the season progresses.
  9. going to guess the rotation is 6 to start the season and it will finish around 4 by the end.
  10. Now that is a ballsy prediction. I would be happy, if learned to skip the blue bell. Maybe January can light a fire under is ass. One thing to see upperclassmen in front of you, it’s another to fall behind a freshman
  11. We can agree to disagree. No need to get into a dick measuring contest
  12. I literally said I wasn’t predicting he would become Sweat. I was simply commenting on the fact that for many DTs it takes awhile to discover the work ethic needed to realize their potential. Used Sweat as a guy that didn’t have a sterling reputation for his work ethic for much of his career.
  13. Sydir isn't sweat. Not predicting he will be, just saying some of these big boys take awhile to find the needed dedication. Talent isn’t Sydir’s issue.
  14. He maybe Sweat. It took a long time for Sweat to put it together. He wasn’t known as the hardest worker for most of his career. He shouldn’t have needed the COVID year based on his talent
  15. That a mismatch and exactly the guy I want Cam Williams working against. I have 0 worries about his run blocking or him dealing with bull rushers. Make him get used to the speed Simmons can bring off the edge.
  16. Texas should use Neto’s nastiness and strength. One of the biggest areas of improvement needed for the OL is moving people (see 2023 redzone). Conner just seems to lack the strong base for that. He good in pass pro and is a solid screener on outside zone, but he isn’t going to move people
  17. It is not like Sorrell or Burke have proven to be elite pass rushers. It one thing to say never drop LT or Von Miller, its another to say never drop Sorrell or Burke. My memory maybe off, but I thought PFF gave Sorrell a higher pass rushing grade than Burke last year. Hoping both make a jump this year
  18. I am going to guess that won’t happen. PK said LB or Safety in his interview. Ant Hill is probably the betting favorite
  19. I think this is a bit over-stated. The OL was pretty good last year overall, but I will concede this is the last step in the reclamation project that was the OL Flood inherited. They had their issues in short yardage last year. They were not an OL that could just come out and just smash competent defenses, but not many OLs can. Another year of physical development and RB development should help that.
  20. Dont believe so. Gerry said Lole and Collins were the only DTs with NFL draft grades.
  21. Thanks. Didnt check around. That was quick turnaround from the visit went great.
  22. I dont doubt you, but curious as to why you say that. He hasnt been to many schools and Texas is the only school he visited in the last few months. Did I miss something here?
  23. I would say in general bringing more than 4 rushers is a true blitz. I think people's definition can vary though. Some would say bringing 1 LB and 3 DL, while dropping a DL is a blitz. Just thinking there may have been a little bias to prove a point. Unless they are saying the extra defenders all bit on the run fake on the Helm TD, which is tough to know.
  24. not that is matters, but I was confused by the comments. OU brings 4 on the int (first series) and they call it a blitz. They bring 5, maybe 6 with Stutsman, on the Helm TD, but that isnt a blitz. You have the Whit play to the 1 yard on a blitz, but they got to say 10-12 with 1 Int, 2 sacks, and no TDs (something like that).
  25. I was going to say that. It makes sense that both were supposed to be in today
