  1. That a mismatch and exactly the guy I want Cam Williams working against. I have 0 worries about his run blocking or him dealing with bull rushers. Make him get used to the speed Simmons can bring off the edge.
  2. Texas should use Neto’s nastiness and strength. One of the biggest areas of improvement needed for the OL is moving people (see 2023 redzone). Conner just seems to lack the strong base for that. He good in pass pro and is a solid screener on outside zone, but he isn’t going to move people
  3. It is not like Sorrell or Burke have proven to be elite pass rushers. It one thing to say never drop LT or Von Miller, its another to say never drop Sorrell or Burke. My memory maybe off, but I thought PFF gave Sorrell a higher pass rushing grade than Burke last year. Hoping both make a jump this year
  4. I am going to guess that won’t happen. PK said LB or Safety in his interview. Ant Hill is probably the betting favorite
  5. I think this is a bit over-stated. The OL was pretty good last year overall, but I will concede this is the last step in the reclamation project that was the OL Flood inherited. They had their issues in short yardage last year. They were not an OL that could just come out and just smash competent defenses, but not many OLs can. Another year of physical development and RB development should help that.
  6. Dont believe so. Gerry said Lole and Collins were the only DTs with NFL draft grades.
  7. Thanks. Didnt check around. That was quick turnaround from the visit went great.
  8. I dont doubt you, but curious as to why you say that. He hasnt been to many schools and Texas is the only school he visited in the last few months. Did I miss something here?
  9. I would say in general bringing more than 4 rushers is a true blitz. I think people's definition can vary though. Some would say bringing 1 LB and 3 DL, while dropping a DL is a blitz. Just thinking there may have been a little bias to prove a point. Unless they are saying the extra defenders all bit on the run fake on the Helm TD, which is tough to know.
  10. not that is matters, but I was confused by the comments. OU brings 4 on the int (first series) and they call it a blitz. They bring 5, maybe 6 with Stutsman, on the Helm TD, but that isnt a blitz. You have the Whit play to the 1 yard on a blitz, but they got to say 10-12 with 1 Int, 2 sacks, and no TDs (something like that).
  11. I was going to say that. It makes sense that both were supposed to be in today
  12. That’s huge. Hook’em
  13. Its like going back in time, when football has essentially unlimited rosters. I just dont get Baseball, Softball, and Volleyball. These are sports that lose money on the whole. No need to increase the expenses there. Title IX is going to become a bigger deal for schools (just added 44.3 men's scholarships and 19 girls). This will have a negative effect on men's sports (could see schools dropping men's sports) and probably adding women's sports.
  14. Texas took 3 DTs in the portal for a reason. That would have happened with or without Bo.
  15. I would bet one of the edge guys will be a 5 star and a long shot both are. Townsend is in that discussion also
  16. The goal was reported to be 4 DT.. This had nothing to do with Sanders. Texas needs to offer multiple DTs at this point
  17. “I’m gonna alleviate some of your concerns because I know you’ve got seven wideouts that all can play,” Saban told Sarkisian. “I know you’ve got three quarterbacks that all can play. Baxter was the best running back I saw of any team, aight, so you’re gonna be able to run the ball. “If you can run it, you can always do better in the red zone. I’m just gonna do a little coaching clinic here just in case.”
  18. Kelly has a pretty solid resume. Guys like Frank Wilson, Bo Davis, and Corey Raymond have long histories of good work. The one thing that can be frustrating reading this board is this idea that every single recruitment is about NIL (not that you said that).
  19. I do not think there is a singular factor, that can explain things. 1. Texas hasnt recruited at DT well for quite some time.. Given the amount of portal takes there, that is hard to argue 2. Texas went with an unknown at DT in Baker. Bigger issue is he had 0 contact with DT recruits prior to Jan/Feb.. 3. Weak DT class in state this year. Forcing Texas to play from behind in national recruitments with an inexperienced DT coach. 4. NIL just adds, so much volatility to recruitments. I believe the Sharma number was 800k and is for the 29th ranked DL in the nation. I do think he is under-rated, but he is currently ranked 1 spot above Rink in the national rankings. There just isnt much you can do to stop someone from overspending on a single recruit. 5. DT is arguably the most competitive position to recruit. The solution is not easy. I completely agree with Gerry on DT recruiting. Texas did not recruit enough names. Maybe it was hubris on Sark's part, but hopefully it was a lesson learned. Maybe it was a mistake that would have been avoided with an adult in the room running recruiting (Glasscock). That we will never know
  20. Jake Majors is starting. Not much to discuss
  21. should add Townsend ran a fully automatic 10.92 100m at district.
  22. JT Sanders - 6'3" 235 as a recruit Townsend - 6'3" 235 as a HS junior
  23. Outside of WR and maybe OT, it shows the services are pretty good at measuring pure athleticism. Positions that require more mental aspects of the game (QB/LB/S) and projections on body development (DT/OL), the services struggle.
  24. decided to look Top 100 players drafted by position: 1. DE - 60% 2. Athlete - 53.8% 3. TE- 53.6% 4. OT- 52.9% 5. CB - 45.7% 6. RB- 40.6% 7. QB- 40.3% 8- IOL- 40.0% 9. S- 39% 10. DT- 38.6% 11. LB- 33% 12. WR- 30.8%
  25. That would be the 3 in my view, assuming Townsend plays TE. I sell WRs in general. They are maybe the most plentiful position in football (especially in Texas)and its is also a position that has more busts, than you would expect. (inside Texas did some work on bust rates by position and WR had the lowest draft rate amond top 100 players.)
