  1. Maalik had his choices.. He is choosing to maximize his opportunity. There is no reason to make it out to be anything more than that. It doesnt make him a shithead. It is just par for the course in today's landscape.
  2. If we look at the Bowl game. Texas did a great job vs the pass. They only gave up 1 explosive throw and that was on a trick play. In the 2 years at Washington, Penix's lowest yards per attempt was vs Texas. Texas defense had 2 issues in that game. #1 Washington was 13-23 on 3/4th down (57%). Texas is the #2 3rd down conversion defense in the nation this year (26.5%). Texas was 94th last year (41.3%). Hopefully, that improvement shows up in this game. The other issue was the run game. Texas gave up 158 yards and 5.64 yards/att. Texas is 4th in the country this year in rush defense (80.85 yards and 2.87 yard/att). That is an improvement from 33rd in the nation (125.7 and 3.9 per/att)..
  3. We see transfer get in late every year. AD Mitchell hit the portal on the 18th,committed to Texas on Jan 20th, and was at Texas in the spring.
  4. its actually pretty mixed. They are ranking the bottom of the class higher, but are hammering the top of the class. ON3 has the lowest industry ranking on Baker (25 national vs 44 On3), Wingo (28 v 66), Black (44 v 97), Gibson (83 v 171), and Filsame (33 vs 61).. They are have the highest rankings on Mack (108v 58), Cruz (199 v 149), Wilson (239 v 90), Robinson (281 v 166), Washington (384 v 273), and January (488 v 288)..
  5. Worthy has his issues at times, but he is arguably the hardest cover in college football.
  6. https://www.ncaa.org/news/2023/10/4/media-center-di-council-approves-changes-to-notification-of-transfer-windows.aspx New transfer windows for Football Bowl Subdivision and Football Championship Subdivision football will include a 30-day window beginning the Monday after FBS conference championship games. For student-athletes on teams that compete in the postseason (for example: College Football Playoff, FCS championship, bowl games) there will be an additional five-day transfer window following the contest. That is just not true.. That also ignores that Sark said you could put your name in and stay for the playoffs. I dont hold anything against Maalik. He is doing what he thinks is best for him. It was it is and I would probably do the same, but he had the option to stay with the team. I believe others are taking Sark up on his offer.
  7. There is now a 5 day window after the playoffs. Sark also said he woudl let people that went into the portal participate in the playoffs, so this was his call not to play
  8. Carson Beck is at Georgia. Cant imagine Maalik would go there to hold a clip board.
  9. Penix averaged 8.4 yards per attempt last year and completed 65% of his passes…His lowest yards per completion in a game was 5.2 yards. That was vs Texas…
  10. maybe I missed it, but I have not seen a single post hammering Maalik. Vast majority of the post are very positive.
  11. based on Thamel's tweet and Murphy's words, that does not appear to be the case.

  13. I dont think that is correct. College football playoff participants have an additional 5 day window in January..
  14. I think your Ewers comp is solid. Penix is athletic enough to hurt you, if you forget about him. He isnt going to hurt you consistently. Maybe get the one change of pace QB draw or a scramble, but it wont be much more than that.
  15. Very interested in what new sub packages PK comes up with. He has a lot of time and they get a month of practice. Could this be a breakout for a guy like Bledsoe, who maybe the best interior rusher for Texas. Does he install a Dime package? No idea what PK will do, but I am sure there will be some wrinkle we have not seen.
  16. probably reading too much into this, but with Andrews not visiting, I will pencil Smith into the class.
  17. I wouldnt get to fixated on 96th in total pass defense. That number is inflated, due to the Texas rush defense. Texas has seen 464 pass attempts, only 3 teams have seen more in the nation (Liberty, Oregon, and Washington). Yards per attempt Texas is 29th in the country (Washignton 25th). 33rd in passer rating allowed (Washington 30). Those are probably better measures.
  18. Here is a quick breakdown using Pts per Drive (unadjusted) Michigan: 3.61 pts (5th) ..defense: 0.81 pts (1st) Texas: 2.98 pts (14th).. defense 1.45 (13th) Washington: 3.45 pts (6th).. defense 2.03 (45th) Bama: 2.80 pts (25th)... defense 1.64 (19th) https://www.bcftoys.com/2023-ppd/
  19. Which probably means the winner of this game, like most big games, will be the team that can run ball.. all the BS in this thread is mostly about the passing games (mine included), but the bowl game was decided by Washington’s ability to run the ball
  20. I haven’t watched a ton of Washington, but teams have had success bringing second level blitzes up the middle. That is a lot different than bringing a safety down to help vs the run.
  21. I think you need to figure this out in your head first.. Are you mad that Sark dumped Washignton for USC or do you think Sark is a shitty coach. Both things cant be true
  22. Browns fans watched Belichick closely. Michigan State fans watched Saban closely. I am not saying Sark will end up like those, but lets not pretend the 2023 Sark is the same as the 2013 Sark
  23. Keep in mind I think Penix has been in the system for 5-6 years, so he has had a QB at Washington that has run the system longer than 80% of NFL QBs (that estimate is probably low)
