  1. I dont mind the off coverage as much as most, but what kill me is they play off and bail.. If they played at 5 and played more flat-footed, I would be OK with it..
  2. I am going guess the difference is yards per attempt. Milroe is at 10.4 vs 9.1 for Quinn
  3. Considering the defense essentially scored 7 pts (gave the offense the ball on the 5). KSU scored 23 pts off of short fields. Defense defended 17 possessions and gave up 30 pts. Held KSU to their lowest offensive yard total on the year and lowest yards per play on the year. I have worries about the secondary, but 30 is not enough pts when the offense is giving the opposition short fields. 30 isnt a great number when the offense had 4 short fields to work with.
  4. Cook isnt on Cook, come on. Sometimes shit just happens. You have no idea if that pass ends up in Cook's hands, KSU's hands, or on the turf. You are also conveniently forgetting about the dropped Int in the endzone, which was a terrible throw. You also forgetting about the dropped Int at midfield. Even if you assume the Cook pass is good, you still have 3 other obvios turnover worthy throws. I am sure we could both find more, if we looked. You cant bitch about 1 unlucky turnover and ignore the lucky ones that ended up on the turf. Keep in mind all of these have happened in DKR and in what were comfortable games (at the time).
  5. Correct, but the only thing Maalik has proven is that he can not be relied on to take care of the football. That is far and away Maalik's biggest issue
  6. There is a difference. Milroe is elite with his legs. Maalik throws a solid deep ball, but it is not elite. Not sure at about everyone, but I was making fun of Bama for he way Tommy Rees used Milroe. Milroe in the pocket is not a great QB. Unleashing him in the run game and a lot of things open up. That is what happens when you have a QB with an elite trait. Bama almost losing does not have a bearing on this situation. The issue is Maalik is continually putting the ball at risk. That is huge problem coupled with inaccuracy and immobility. No idea if Maalik makes big jump, but Sark needs to be prepared to have a quick hook.
  7. There is no way Sark can do that with Conference Championship and playoffs all still possibilities. You cant throw Maalik out there and get down 14-0 on turnovers and just throw Ewers in. That would be a fireable offense. Not to mention you would lose the entre team, if he was ever that stupid
  8. So why would you compare Card vs Bama and Ewers vs OSu? I wouldnt worry about that.
  9. Ewers looked a lot better vs Bama than Card did.
  10. This is some serous over thinking. Maalik was bad. "He could have 300 yards and 2 more TDs", if every single break went his way and Mitchell became Earl Campbell after the catch. .This completely misses reality, he has been amazingly lucky. He threw 2 balls off the face of KSU defenders. He has over 300 yards if he doesnt flat out miss 6-8 open WRs. I dont know if this just who Murphy is or there is a much better version down the line, but he was just bad vs KSU..
  11. He just isnt very athletic and he does not have the mind set. He had 42 carries in 14 games as a senior for 82 yards as a Senior. That 1.95 yards per carry should be a give away that Maalik isnt a runner.
  12. I hate this game. TCU is going to throw it 40-50 times. Their OL is weak, so Texas could win the game there. IF the DL doesnt dominate, I would expect TCU to have success on offense. Texas defense is vulnerable to the pass and all TCU does is pass. Without Quinn, the offense is a question mark.
  13. Just my opinion, but it doesnt appear related to injury. Maalik had already thrown 2 passes off the chest of KSU's players and one into their hands at the point of that terrible interception. Injury may explain the poor accuracy, but not the poor decisions. He is just too careless with the ball to believe that it will not come back to bite Texas at some point. This in the backdrop of 2 homes games and some excellent pass protection on Saturday
  14. MM was always a developmental QB. He started 20 games in HS. In HS he struggled with accuracy and interceptions. He completed 59% of his throws in HS. He had 31 TDs and 15 interceptions. He has an extremely long throwing motion. Sark and Maalik have been working correct that. There are times when it looks better, but when the bullets fly the old habits come back.
  15. I don’t agree Texas needs to always take the pts. I don’t think anyone agrees that Texas should always take the pts. Personally, I still think Sark messed up kicking the FG vs OU
  16. Everything is hypothetical. The 3 pts are not guaranteed. The game is unlikely to played exactly the same outside of that one singular play. I get people that say take the pts and don’t like the call. I happen to have liked the call. Either way, I don’t think this is one anyone should have a really strong opinion on. It’s not like KSU deciding to go for the win from the 4 in OT
  17. Ex-NFL GMs are famous for falling for in love with arm strength. Guys like Bill Walsh and Mike Leach would say that accuracy is the #1 quality they look for in a QB.
  18. That play gave KSU 0 momentum. Unless you believe losing 1 yard on the next 3 plays and punting qualifies as momentum. The pivotal moment happened 7 plays later, when KSU blocked the punt. That was where the game changed. It took another shitty turn on Maalik int
  19. I do believe he treated BYU like a scrimmage. I don’t think that was the case here. He was going for the chance to get up 4 scores. Guessing he had that play in his bag and was dying to use it based off scouting. He called it. Got everything he wanted from the defense. He saw Sanders wide open and then he saw the ball on the ground.
  20. It's called being a first time starter at the P5 level. I've said this before but the NFL is littered with QB's I once thought sucked too badly to get drafted much less make a roster...and some of those guys are actually starting. I'm not saying MM is going to eventually play his way into Heisman talk, but I've also seen enough over the years to not dismiss the possibility. The kid has an arm that can make all the throws as well as anyone in CFB, but he needs to learn to read defenses better and not rely on his arm skills for every single play. Just for the record, arm strength is one of worst predictors for QB success. You need a certain base level, but having a cannon has never been necessary to be a great QB. Not sure why people fixate so much on pure arm strength
  21. Texas is odd they were 8/9 on short yard conversions (less than 4 yards) inside the 25, but outside the 5 yard line.. They are actually pretty good, until they get inside the 5, then it all goes to shit
  22. I have 0 issue going for it on the 12. Offense was doing well. The defense was killing it. The play call was dead on. Sanders was wide open for an easy TD. Red just dropped the ball. They didn’t get it, but KSU went out and gained -1 yards on 3 plays, punted, and Texas got the ball on the KSU 47 yard line.
  23. Milroe situation is different. Milroe was much older and has an elite trait. He maybe the best running QB in the country. His biggest issue early in the season was his OC. Bama ran 3 QB runs vs Texas. They did little to feature Milroe’s elite skill. Watching that offense vs LSU that has dramatically changed. That is not similar to Maalik and Arch. These are 2 inexperienced pocket passers. The true freshman is actually the athletic one. I have no idea who gives Texas the better chance. I am not sure anyone truly knows. It’s hard to know about a QB, until the bullets are flying. I am not calling for Maalik to be benched, but like most people here I would be lying if I said I want curious
  24. There is much more than that. Texas just completely busts coverage on a mesh concept to make it 27-21. I believe Williams bites on the curl from the TE in Cover 3 and it’s a long TD to the post to make it 27-27. There are going to be times when an OL will block well or a QB will by extra time, that is just football. The real issue is the consistent coverage busts. Those are plays Texas is just giving to opposing offenses
