  1. I am going say 6-0 Looking for the Dynamic Freshmen Duo of Hill and Williams to play starter minutes.. Williams playing on the final drive seems to ensure his role is only going to get larger. Sark was almost glowing talking about Hill's performance in the RRS. It is time Johntay Cook becomes a bigger part of the offense. Sark mentioned he should have played Cook more vs OU.. Red or Baxter takes over the short yardage situations. I'd say Baxter, but will he ever be healthy?
  2. This play is also is a bit foreboding. As you can see Sorrell on attacking the outside shoulder of the OT (75) and Gbenda looping around him (2nd picture). Very similar to the last play of the game where Brooks and Burke were both blocked by the OT
  3. I am more annoyed after rewatching it, because a lot of the pain was self-inflicted. People have hammered the coverage bust on the last series, which cant happen.. The QB run was probably the biggest factor in the OU win... This is example of why it worked. This is 40+ yard run. Watch Murphy. It looks like he is stunting into opposite A gap. Nobody is replacing him so I doubt it. He is now on the other side of the center. Now the seas have parted Ford compounds it by missing the open field tackle. Just poor discipline. It is from a guy with 3 years experience in the 4Q of game where the QB has hurt Texas all game running the ball. This is not the only example of guys getting out of their pass rushing lanes.
  4. there is worse. Go watch Murphy on the 44 yard run by Gabriel. He completely opens up the middle of the field. Starts in A gap and ends up in opposite B/C gap. Lot of undisciplined pass rushing and DG took advantage of it..
  5. because he is playing behind one of the best players on the team.
  6. snap counts are cool, but its when they are playing. Williams being in on the last play of the RRS, pretty much tells you where he is in the pecking order.

    Outcoached

Texas is lacking a power RB. That isnt a knock on Brooks. Rojo was better at 4th and 1, than Bijan. Every team needs at least one power back. Either Baxter gets healthy or Red might need a look there.
  8. It goes beyond that. Its a cost/benefit thing for me. Hill is going to mess up once every 8-10 plays (true freshman), but he also makes plays. Gbenda is having assignment issues also, but he doesnt have the same play making potential.
  9. That would be one ignorant group. Sark's demise would really set the program back.
  10. Never really into these kind of things. Offense played generally well, but made mistakes and failed to convert in big moments. The defense was generally poor, but those last drive of each half were just brutal. Both sides of the ball found a way to snatch defeat from the mouth of victory.
  11. Defense gave up 6 yards a play. It wasnt a good game. Probably say discipline and tackling was the biggest issue for the defense. Poor rushing lanes opened up the scrambles. OU had 130+ yards after missed tackles.
  12. Look to me they both step up to the Qb threat of run and the short route.
  13. It’s interesting that Texas has opened every game with a short passing concept. 9 passes and 3 runs on the first 2 plays of the games this year. not going to look at all of them, but highly likely 9 short passing concepts.. Might be a bit of a tell there
  14. The coach didn’t love the game plan…. Surly is with the coach Coach wants a 3 man front vs OU…Surly now confused
  15. Only way to throw it quicker would be to throw it with his body parallel to the endzone. This is simply a throw that was not great, but gave his TE a chance to make a play. The TE bobbled it from the start, so it had 0 chance of succeeding. We are not even sure Sanders makes that catch if he isnt hit. People are just bitching over the percentages of whose fault it is.

I am not sure I would say putting two fat bastards to lead the run is offensive genius level thinking. People been doing that shit for 20 years starting in pop warner. Again the pt is running downhill with 1 yard to go- reasonable decision. You can bitch about it, but it is a logical decision. Its the jet sweeps and cute shit that bugs me. As it is more boom or bust.

Went inside twice and outside once (off tackle). The biggest thing for me in that series was how much Texas misses a Rojo.. My point was I never get to riled up about running the ball in short situation, especially when in theory your are supposed to have an advantage. I do get pissed when Sark gets too cute and over thinks it.

We didnt get 1 yard, because our fat bastards got whipped by their fat bastards. Again I woudl rather that, than see an unblocked DE tackle WR for a loss. I am not goign to be the fan that gets pissed when Sark does some cute shit like a jet sweep and then bitch when he goes meathead at the 1 yard line.

I think this correct, but that is in the irrational world of sports chat rooms. I think the decision is pretty obvious. We can quibble over percentages, but making the FG or the 1st down on 4th and 4 are both probably around a coin flip (with OU down 2 starters in the secondary, I think odds are better for going for it).. IF either fail it doesnt matter, the odds on the outcome are essentially the same.. IF you make the first down, the odds dramatically increase for a Texas win compared to making the FG. Making the first down puts OU's chances at winning at essentially 0.

I really dont have many issues with the 4 calls on the 1 yard line. Coaches are building the program around "Big Humans" and physicality. Those are the Sark's words. You should be able to grind out a yard in 3 shots.. If you want to bitch about red zone play calling, its probably best to bring up the annoying jet sweep to a WR that loses yards that I have been forced to watch 2 weeks in a row.
  21. Ideally the DL would stay in the their lanes. That is the 1st defense against a mobile QB. I can get over aggressive, if you are getting to the QB. Texas wasnt. The one where Ford turns his back is at 1:03:40 the one where he jumps DG is at 2:30:45. Just highlighting that it is tough spot for a LB, especially vs a QB in his 44th start in a system. DG has the ability and experience to make the LB wrong.
  22. That is tough play for a LB. That puts the LB in conflict. I am sure you can remember both these plays. One time Ford turns his back and stays with the receiver giving up an easy 1st down run to 1st down. I think it was the last drive when Ford came up to get DG and he threw it over his head to Stoops for a big game. LB has to account for 2 people and the QB has ability to make any decision he makes wrong.
  23. Assuming you are talking about the 4Q drive that led to a missed FG. It was Finkley on the 3rd and 11 and Burke on the 30+ yard run with a tip of cap to Murphy for getting way out of his lane. Hil wasnt in and Gbenda blitzed off the other edge.
  24. I rewatched it. Holy Ghost of Ovie.. OU let the edges get up field all game and skipped by untouched underneath. They abused them.
