  1. That was his first 100 yard game in 40+ starts. Biggest issue was maintaining pass rush lanes. Not only did Texas not get pressure, but they they failed to contain. Edges got past the QB on multiple occasions.

    Outcoached

It was a stack formation with Whittington on the LOS. He was blocking
  3. There were plenty of Texas fans that wanted the last perfectly rated QB to be moved to WR, some of those dumb bastards are still in here
  4. I think we have to exclude Sweat. He was good again. The DEs were dreadful..I can’t remember when it happened, but I remember a drive OU caught Finkley and Burke on the field. They went uptempo and hammered Texas on the edges.
  5. I thought Quinn arguably played his best 2nd half of football. Shit went really bad in the 1st quarter. He completely rebounded. Might be time to let go of some of those old ideas about him. He showed amazing resiliency on Saturday
  6. Trying to find something positive about the game. I wonder if we see some changes after the bye week. Williams was the best safety on the field for Texas and Any Hill was the best LB.. Williams was in on the last play of the game (not involved in the last play). I think it fair to say he is now above Taffe, with a chance he will be pushing for starter minutes
  7. The fact that he was bobbling the ball prior to hit, makes any speculation irrelevant. If he cleanly catches it, maybe he holds on
  8. Also highlights how much Texas misses Rojo. There just isn’t a short yardage RB in the room
  9. Giving up the TD was unlikely and just a cluster fuck. Giving up a FG attempt was not. After too many years of watching football, DCs almost always play conservative until an offense reaches the 40-50 yards out.
  10. I going to disagree with this spin. Quinn had been on point for about 3Qs. I think he had 1-2 incompletions in the second half. OU had lost their starting CB and Safety in the last 2 series. Hitting the kick was less than a coin flip. Bert came in 3-8 outside of 40 yards. He hit both (good for him), but I had more confidence in Quinn getting a first down. Not to mention OU came out in FG block on 4th down Defensively it’s tougher to argue. Texas was coming off 4 straight stops, but that was vs a different scheme
  11. Definitely. The pass was high, but if Sanders catches it cleanly there is a chance for a TD. Sanders was bobbling the ball when the DB hit him, so it had 0 chance for success.

    3rd and 9

I thought Sark ran the ball on 3rd with the intention of going for it on 4th down. I thought that was smart, because it forced OU to call a timeout. Then Sark brought out the FG team.
  13. I think that is more of a preparation thing for Ewers. He still growing into the job. Last year was bad at home in the opener. Then looked great vs Bama. You know Sark used camp to prepare for Bama. Looked terrible on the road vs OSU. Terrible at home vs TCU. Had a month of bowl prep and looked good vs Washington. This year bad vs Rice. Looked great vs Bama, but again they probably had been prepping Bama for a month. Wyoming was bad. Sark said 2 defenses surprised them in the first 3 games (based on results it was Rice and Wyoming). Quinn is still young enough that you can confuse him. When he knows what he is looking at, he has proven to he can execute. As the season progresses, it will be harder to confuse him. You could also throw in the 3 high safety look., that has given Sark's passing game fits
  14. I am sure somewhere here has it, but Quinn has been very good vs the blitz. This is going to be like Bama. Venables is a good defensive mind and he is going to have some crazy pressure packages for Texas. That wont matter if Texas can win 1st down ad avoid obvious passing situations. ISU was running all over OU last week. If their defense did not get them in a hole, they might have run for 300..
  15. He has definitely improved. Guards are improving, but even when they struggled early Majors wasnt a liability. I want to give him some credit. They are 100s of hot takes on this site, that criticize players and coaches and I have made some. It turns out that players can improve. Imagine saying Jones would be the best OL on the team this year 2 years ago.
  16. Majors is arguably the biggest surprise on the offense.

Whose speed? Cat, Taff, and Thompson are probably all somewhere around 4.7. Doubt any of them test well. Crawford will test well, but the instincts are not there and he is in his 4th year (only second at Safety)
  18. I would never bet against a RB leaving early. If he gets a decent draft grade, he should leave. That’s why Choice picks bringing in top RBs. I thought Gerry said there is talk that the 2025 RB that Texas leads for may reclassify.

I was hoping Williams would continue to get snaps at Safety, but clearly the coaches don’t have that the level of trust yet.

Taffee can play a roll. He is smart and physical. That said you don’t want him in coverage. That is kind of the issue with the safeties. Using the Legion of Boom as an example. Texas has 3 Kam Chancelors and no Earl Thomas. The 4th guy is an athlete playing football, not an athletic football player
  21. The stat nobody saw coming, Ewers tied with Brooks for team lead in rushing TDs
  22. Guy Helm was blocking (got away with a hold, nice to be on the other side of that) dove at his feet and touched him.
  23. Pretty much untouched for 60 yards. He had at least well over 100 yards untouched today. I have to give the game ball to the OL.
  24. Just being at the game. I am giving the game ball to the OL. They opened some huge holes. J Brooks had at least 100 yards where he was untouched
  25. this should be in this thread, probably his best run
