  1. I believe Bobby or Gerry at one point said that thought he would just move on to the business world. In a NIL world, who knows though. Texas is going to have a handful of guys that may stay. Majors, Crawford, and even Catalon have COVID options. I am sure I missing some others.
  2. Casey didn’t. Never underestimate a persons ability to over-estimate themselves
  3. If I remember correctly, Quinn and Card we not given the job until the week of the 1st game. I cant imagine him changing that for Arch or Maalik. Sark wants both of them on the team next year. Announcing a starter early would put that in jeopardy.
  4. Sark is likely to announce the starter for next year about 3 hours before the opening game
  5. @NoName. I get that Hutson has a lot of starts at guard. The difference is Campbell started the opener and has been playing at RG with Hutson out. Even when both were healthy there was a rotation there. I think that has opened the door for Campbell. Conner hasnt left the line-up all year. Why I agree that he is likely the starter there. I cant imagine Flood would open the year next year with Campbell and Neto on the bench. Flood is going to have to do some serious tap dancing to avoid losing a player or 2 to the transfer portal next year. At least Texas is moving to a point of having high call problems.
  6. I hope so. I know there were rumblings during the spring/summer. He just seems like the one guy without a spot. This is obviously complete speculation.
  7. The likely OL is Banks, Conner, Hutson, Campbell, Cam Williams.... Lot of talk about center and Hutson. I think he is likely going to slide over and compete with Robertson and Cruz (Gerry loves him). If I had to bet on someone transferring it would be Neto. I hope I am wrong about that, because he has a lot of upside. I am still hoping he takes over for Conner later in the year, but that dream is slowly dying.
  8. He is in line to start next year, with Jones leaving. If there is a transfer it is likely going to be at guard
  9. The biggest issue at Safety is 3 of the top 4 are very similar. Its not to say that anyone is a bad player. Thompson, Cat, and Taaffe are all limited athletes. In theory Crawford or Williams would be a great pairing with Cat or Thompson. I just dont think either are to that level currently.
  10. Get used to it. Given how well the front in playing vs the run, everyone is going to game plan to attack the secondary. That is going to lead everyone to point fingers at them.
  11. His speed was on display on a long Wyoming run. I am not sure saying look how a true freshman Safety looks vs one of the most dangerous WR in the nation is the most meaningful data point. Worthy vs any true freshman is a mismatch. People are pointing out that the Texas safeties are vulnerable. You seem to concede that pt. We both know that neither are going to run a 4.5. It just is a fact of life with this defense. I get your point, but the truth probably lies somewhere between your comments and the initial comment
  12. I don think anyone said it is an easy cover, but opposing OCs have targeted Safeties and Watts recently. Just is what it is. Right now 3 of the top 4 safeties would all be considered athletically limited, but high football IQ. The secondary overall is not fast. Secondary has given up 11 explosives in the pass game in 4 games (13 in total). That is with a DL dominating and facing some questionable passing attacks. It is probably the weakest part of the defense right now and opposing game plans agree. Given how well the front is playing vs the run, it is going to continue.
  13. Baker's optimal/NFL position is RT, but he could easily play LT in college. You see future NFL RTs and even guards play well at LT in college. We all watched Williams look great at LT for Texas, only to be drafted as a Guard and eventually move to center in the NFL. Goosby is a LT, probably the only pure LT in the program other than Banks. I hope Texas has the luxury of keeping Baker at RT, because that means Texas has continued to develop a killer OL.
  14. He added if Mom and Grandmom show up with him it is real. If they do not, it is unlikely
  15. Every DC is going to go after the guards in pass pro. Its hard to run complex pressure packages when it is 2nd 6 or 3rd and 3. Texas cant find themselves in a lot fo of 3rd and 8s like the Rice game. Until Quinn and the OL grown up, the best way to protect them is to stay ahead of the chains.
  16. That worked well for Tom Herman vs ISU or Sark vs TCU.
  17. This isa reflection of what many people have talked about in here. 3rd down conversions are generally a reflection of 1st and 2nd down success. Texas averaged 3rd and 8. 5 vs Rice. Numbers will get better, if Texas cleans up the pre-snap penalties, drops, missed passes, or finds a consistent run game. Getting behind the chains makes offense hard.
  18. You have 8 guys blocking. AD Mitchell is even blocking, that is kind of a give away that he doesn’t know X is getting the ball. Campbell is 5 yards downfield looking confused. 8 guys are blocking. Worthy is the only receiver on the play. It’s either a very simplistic RPO or a check that Sark put in for this game.
  19. This reminds me. Baber said that Robinson has caught 30 of the 36 passes throw his way. He averages 11+ yac and ~10 per catch. So he pretty much gets a first down every time Texas throws him the ball behind the line of scrimmage.
  20. It is usually more about concentration, than anything else. Lot of drops are guys thinking about the next move, instead of concentrating on the catch. Its like asking how can a hall of Fame WR like Terrell Owens make amazing highlight catches all the time and still be known for dropping the occasional easy pass. The big knock on Quinten Johnson comign out of college was his 11.8% drop rate and he still went in the 1st round. Some guys just dont have great hands.
  21. Why do people respond to comment and mention a single play? A play that Quinn made an excellent read on, he could of just handed it off. I am guessing you didnt notice that. Texas is averaging ~4 drops a game. The run game is inconsistent at best. Couple decent 4Qs, but let me know what you see early in games. Probably see multiple pre-snap penalties. He is one game removed from being the national darling after the Bama game.
  22. offense is kind of simple. If you stay on schedule you can be highly efficient. You face a lot of 3rd and 8s, you will probably look like shit.
  23. Unfortunately, you probably need to add per-snap penalties. I wish it was just one thing. Go through the misses this season and it is drop, poor read, poor throw, poor spacing/route, poor protection. Quinn has his issues, but overall he is not getting a lot of help. The litany of miscues makes it tough for the offense to get in rhythm.
  24. I watched that 1st one live and thought Mitchell needed to sit on the route. You throw that out in front and it is a potential pick 6. Probably should of just thrown this one through the endzone. Not so sure on the last one. Safety looks like he is in position to make a play on Sanders or Helm, spacing looks off.
