  1. Sark did well running the ball vs ISU and KSU last year. You saw the extra OL and unbalanced sets. That was his answer. The issue vs Wyoming was they dared him to run and it took him awhile to accept the challenge. Sark has 1 arrow in his quiver vs the flyover, run the ball. The part he has not solved is how to throw on the flyover defense. Herman stubbled into it. He would try to run on ISU for 3Qs. Sometime in the 4Q, when he was down 2 scores, he would spread them out and let Sam throw. Texas would make a comeback and fall just short. Sark did the same thing vs TCU last year. They spread TCU late and started moving the ball. It’s much harder to disguise coverages, when you spread them out. That ability to disguise coverages and distort the count in the box kills Sarks RPO game and his window dressing. I’ll steal a line from Babers. The way to beat the flyover is to go extreme. Load up with big bodies and run it or spread them out
  2. They are giving up 4.43 per rush, which is 13th.
  3. The issue was he didn’t have to bring numbers last year. He got a lot of pressure bringing just 4. Texas really struggled vs simulated pressures (show 5-6 coming and bring 4). I can’t see him backing off of that.
  4. Aranda completely confused the OL last year with pass rush packages. I dont have much to lose, so I would t bet on him protecting the secondary
  5. Interior rush kills every Qb, especially a pocket passer.
  6. The biggest things I took from this performance was Ewers command over the offense and his pocket presence. He wasnt contact shy. He took some hits and delivered the football (Sanders 3rd down conversion). He did not throw fade away jumpers in the face of the rush (mitchell sideline route). For the most part he stepped up in the pocket, instead of bailing out to the right. For the vast majority of the game his reads were timely and on point. He showed patience (RPO to Mitchell for a TD). His deep ball was better, but the other things give me more confidence going forward. He just needs to prove that Bama was not a 1 off. The arguing over how good of a TD pass it was is just minutiae.
  7. I know it sounds crazy, but Bama's LT might end up as one of the easier match-ups for the edges on the year. He is a talented 5 star freshman, but he is playing before he is ready (nice to be on the other side of that for once). According to Gerry, PK told Solomon Williams they would go after him on a call before the game. I think gave up like 3-4 sacks in the game.
  8. Not sure it has been mentioned here, but the throw from deep in Texas territory to Mitchell down the sideline was an audible. Sark gave Quinn the ability to call the fly to Mitchell, whenever he saw the right coverage/match up. That is big progression in Quinn’s development. I dont think that Sark would have given Quinn that power last year.
  9. Damn, Sark called the TD play and people are still arguing.
  10. I was impressed with his 2nd sack. He probably got yelled at for the play he got too far up field and gave up a 3rd down conversion. I think it was a series or 2 after, he gets his 2nd sack. On that play he was running upfield and stopped. It almost looked like he was spying. Bledsoe was coming upfield and the OT ended up helping on Bledsoe. Once Hill saw the opening he took off underneath and got the sack. Just showed that he is very coachable and a quick learner.
  11. this is the best by Campbell. I am hitting the LB. I am hitting the Safety and Fuck it I am hitting AD Mitchell too
  12. Based on his mom having the range of a 3-toed sloth, I am pretty sure he isn’t leaving the state. I’ll be happy, if I am wrong
  13. Texassports had him tied for 2nd in total tackles with 6 (tied w/ Gbenda, Catalon 7)), tied for 1st in TFLs (Burke), 1st in Sacks with 2, and tied for 2nd with Murphy in QB hurries with 1 (Sorrel 2)… hell of a day
  14. The problem isnt ability. Neto and Campbell have plenty of talent/ability. It is about someone having the a firm grasp of their assignments and being consistent. I dont think Cam is going to move over and suddenly master the guard position.
  15. I think Babers said Texas ran 7 different personnel groupings last year, so I would suspect Sark will be very creative again.
  16. I would guess that Bama doesnt get too exotic on early downs, especially early. They also saw Quinn and Worthy get past them deep last year. The only advantage Texas has on offense is at receiver. Why risk it, when you have the superior athletes upfront. God help Quinn and the OL, if they get into predictable situations. It is why I think 1st down is going to be huge for the offense. They need to stay on schedule.
  17. I know i should have more patience, but Connor still floundering around is killing me. I can give Campbell and Neto some slack, because they have next to 0 experience and have higher ceilings.
  18. that play aside, he did whiff on a WR screen. I think it was Whitt, who was on the receiving end of a missed block
  19. Just empty look. He hasnt delved into, if he wants it 5 WRs, 4 WRs + Sanders, or 11 personnel in empty. I would guess its 4+Sanders, given the depth at WR, but that is a guess.
  20. He is obsessed with empty personnel. We probably see a little of it. Sanders isnt coming off the field though. Sark used to split Bijan out in these looks, this year he may swap out a RB for a WR. Last year Bijan was one of the best receivers, that isn the case at RB this year.
  21. If we dont see any, Babers is going to get in a fetal position and cry.
