  1. They can wait to get their pick of coaches for sure, but half of their team seems to be in the portal. I think there is definitely some incentive for them to hurry up and decide to try to keep their entire roster from defecting.
  2. Then he might as well put his name in and go. Sark has made it abundantly clear that there will be an open competition and is openly using the press to more or less beg for kids to portal here for a chance to play. Surely he and his dad can see that. Something just seems off about the whole thing. Not sure what it is. If he's a true cancer, I would hope that the coaches make it abundantly clear that he needs to find somewhere else to go. If he is on the team next spring, I'm rooting like hell that he improves and is healthy. I don't care if it's Casey, Card, or someone not even on our radar yet who drives this train, but I'm sick of losing. The one thing we need more than anything is an open competition. If he thinks he's earned a guaranteed starting job, well then that's insane.
  3. I thought Casey was supposedly telling teammates how he was for sure transferring at the end of the year? If so, why would he try to get kids to transfer in?
  4. You guys are slipping. Can't believe someone didn't mention how OU better not steal Sark yet.
  5. I assume this plays into potential assistant coaching hires as well, as recruiting won't be as important going forward as coaching ability. Still have to have guys that pull their weight respectively of course, but won't need the pure rainmakers. Makes more sense why we didn't go full on to get Samples.
  6. This is going to just increase depth on the roster like no-other. Think of Alabama level depth in a few years. That creates winning, which only increases other potential NIL deals for the top end guys. Think of how much legal money VY could have made back in the day with a national championship level team and the number of eyes watching him play. What Bijan is pulling down right now is peanuts in comparison. And after a while, as the performance of the team and talent level increases, more guys actually get drafted into the league, make money, and maybe kick back a little more to the fund. It's Genius.
  7. Because they are officially a stepping stone school.
  8. I don't think kids are hitting Hayes up for edits before they enter the transfer portal. Besides, it's not like anyone on our team other than Bijan or Worthy entering the portal would be significant news anyway. Bijan said he's not going anywhere, and Worthy would be silly to leave before accepting the BAMF award. Seems to me he's clearly talking about commits dropping.
  9. You're forgetting that Jumbo hasn't gotten his annual merit increase yet for hitting 8 wins this year.
  10. I wonder if "High Bidder Wins" eventually goes away given the ease at which these guys can transfer nowadays. If anything, I think that is why I agree with CTJ that the impact of the bagman might diminish in the near future, and NIL will be more important. If these boosters drop $300k on a player enough times, and then they end up leaving after 1 or 2 years, achieve more individual and team success at their new school.... eventually that has to make these guys rethink the ROI doesn't it? Or is the $300k paid out in installments? Bagmen will always be around to secure visits, ensure trips to rivals don't occur due to "can't find a ride" etc....but the huge payoff to secure a signing is what I'm talking about here.
  11. Believe it is other coaches fanning the flames of Ewers potentially leaving OSU and Texas potentially being the landing spot.
  12. How much work does it take to copy/paste and then find/replace name, position, ranking, and high school team on their form letter. Like 5 minutes?
  13. I mean I'm no marketing genius, but we could have a Portal Potty Girl shoot a commercial for some local plumber alongside the the top ranked OL available in the portal after he signs with us. Then we can drop the cash on him rewarding him for his great acting ability in the commercial.
  14. I couldn't get the link to work for whatever reason. Will try again later. I've signed up to support the TE group, but might sign up for another round of funding if we were to figure out a way to use it to help target some of the top portal transfers every year, specifically an OL or two next year. That's going to help the team much more quickly than flipping a Cam Williams or whoever (I know...why not both). People like to see immediate return on investment. Just an idea.
