  1. As mentioned, Santa Fe would be a nice choice. Jackson Hole would be another one - direct flights, Grand Teton Park close and Yellowstone, and the town has enough interesting restaurants and bars for 3-4 days worth - but grizzly bears...haha. My #1 recommendation would be Bozeman, MT - again...grizzlies but easy access airport, this college town is large enough to support many good restaurants and pubs. several outstanding micro brew pubs, and hiking trails in town and within minutes of town. Many vacation rentals due to proximity to Big Sky Ski Area and YNP.
  2. There are so many predators at our place, buzzards, yotes, hogs, mtn lions this poor deer didn’t have a chance. I had passed this spot a week earlier and this leg wasn’t there so this happened in one week or less! My buddy shot a hog last year and ran to the barn to get a rope to drag it off and the hogs eyes were eaten out in the 15 minutes he was gone. Hell im scared to take a nap out there ....might get eaten by something
  3. I was in CB a few weeks ago for my 2nd annual fly fishing trip there. Same as you I have always skipped it for skiing for whatever reason but it is on my short list....so, I cant help you with any ski tips but I can suggest some good places to eat. Pro Tip - make reservations in advance for Elk Ave Prime in town of CB - damn good eats. Secret Stash pizza is solid too.
  4. The base area at Taos was recently remodeled when they built the new Blake Hotel. So now you have heated pavement with adirondike chairs and fire pits where he could setup. Rhoda’s restaurant is also at the base with some inside views as well as an outside patio seating as well. Since you haven’t been in 25 years and I understand your nostalgia for rio Hondos but the better handicap hotels with better locations you have about 4 good options based upon your description and really this applies to anyone wanting to be close to slopes in Taos....The Blake Hotel which is the newest and nicest hotel at the base with good views to slopes but it is pricey. Taos renovated the base area with heated pavers so handicap friendlier than 25 years ago for sure. The Edelweiss Condos are also slopeside to beginner area (strawberry hill) also very nice and pricey. The best location on the mountain is the St. Bernard but it is older with many stairways so not sure it is handicap friendly and I think you have to book a week as they don’t accommodate less days for your stay. Last but not least choice would be Snakedance Condos- closest to slopes (30 yards from lift 1) and in my opinion the best value and location in Taos.

Anyone have inflatables? I bought 3 inflatables for our Montana trip this summer. Really enjoyed them and they do not compromise much when it comes to handling and comfort especially in calm Lake water or slow rivers. Being able to roll them up like sleeping bags and fit all 3 in the back of the Jeep is a big plus....Def recommend an air inflator that hooks up to your car battery- 3 minutes and you are ready to roll!!
  8. My amateur attempts at my favorite time of day, Sunset 1) Midnight sunset , Judd Lake, AK 2) Bozeman, MT Sunset 3)“ Skylines“ Sunset Central Texas
  9. Agreed. The Gunnison and Taylor in that area are beauties and great fisheries. Access is so easy on the Taylor it tends to get alot of pressure which can make the fishing tough....Lots of hogs in the Taylor though....
  10. spent last week fly fishing near Crested Butte. Taylor River - 16” brown trout on a dry fly is fun!
  11. not sure of forecast but Taos is getting a dump now on Oct. 1st - good sign!
  12. We have had a family emergency. Make me an offer. I am in FW but will overnight them. Thanks
