  1. Their success has largely been predicated on having an amazing offense. I just looked at the last 6 years of defense rankings and they’re more bad than good. 2020 was their best year defensively at #28. All the other years they’ve never been better than #60 with at least one really bad year in the 100s. Now they have a defensive minded coach without the dudes on defense he’s used to having. Plus, Lincoln took their best offensive weapons. It’s a perfect storm for him to start off being terrible. And, this is how I feel about it…
  2. We all should hope OU manages to go 3-3 from here and knock’s off OSU or another top big 12 team. Just good enough to not fire Venables, but bad enough to not have much to sell.
  3. He inherited a program gutted of its top tier talent by the former head coach and attrition. He has plenty of talent, but the pieces don’t fit together yet. His perfect example is, “Hey, look at Sark in year one. Wait until I have some more of my guys and have time to do the full install.” He should get a couple years to work out the kinks. Now, here’s me saying I hope and believe that he will ultimately fail. Not because I don’t like Venables, but because that would mean an extended period of misery for OU.
  4. Just so long as he’s not as good as Roschon Johnson, I’ll be happy.
  5. You beat me to it. Ewers passing ability may actually make our run blocking better. Unfortunately, we basically have no stats to use on that, yet. ULM, first game, throw it out. Alabama 1Q, second game vs. elite defense, throw it out. OU, terrible defense, throw it out. We’ll have a better sense of our run blocking over the next two games.
  6. If we win out, he’ll be in the conversation. The emerging perception is that his presence takes us from just decent to great. Heisman is the MVP, hence why quarterbacks win it more than not. They’re the most important position on a team. If our QB causes us to win out, win the CCG, be in the conversation for a CFP spot (I’m basing that off some national media people making noise), our only losses being when he was injured, and we continue to curb stomp lesser competition, Quinn will absolutely be in the Heisman conversation. I’m not holding my breath for any of that. I think we drop at least one more game. I think UT getting to the CCG means the big 12 has as much parity as it currently appears, and a couple 2 loss teams are battling it out. With that said, Quinn will be a preseason 2023 Heisman favorite.
  7. I wouldn’t call crushing OU or ISU soul cleansing; it’s more of a nice colon cleanse.

  9. Nope, just giving him the attention he deserves. Looks like he could end up be a really competent defender for this class.

  12. I haven’t seen anyone mention it, but there’s a bunch of, “we’d be 6-0 if Ewers didn’t get hurt in Q1 of Alabama.” People are saying that we have a great chance of getting to the CCG. Seems like a pretty solid take if you just look at the win differentials of our losses with/without Ewers.
  13. That’s how refs should play with unclear potential fumbles… didn’t matter today, but our refs did the exact opposite of the ones on this game.
  14. Actually, maybe you should keep talking. You could be like unwashed lucky underwear. It’s gross, but if it works, it works.
  15. Wulaw deserves to rage after this one. We haven’t seen something like this in a long long time. We might not win the big 12 this year, but we look to be very competitive. We’re an injury away from likely being 6-0 and top 5 in the nation. That’s a huge improvement, and can be attributed to solid coaching across the board. Sark gets credit for that.
  16. I will rewatch this entire game every day this week.
  17. Gray clearly didn’t do that AM dance jump QB drill in fall camp.
  18. I love that OU didn’t take the points, twice. Venables et al have no faith in their defense.
  19. They review the spot, but not the fumble…. lol
