Since @DoobieWah started this thread there has been a good gap in this thread. So here are few stories from recent:
I no longer work in seafood and now with for an upscale Asian restaurant. The other night I had a big top. They made it one check for their 12 people party. Easy for me and for the kitchen. I get to the the last two people at the end of the table(a couple), the guy orders his entrée and then his wife orders hers and adds "can I also get a side of fries for the baby?" I just stare at her and the entire table is staring as well. Then a lightbulb goes off and she asks "oh you guys don't have fries?" Before I can answer, her husband says, "are you crazy?! This is a Chinese restaurant they don't have that stuff here. You oughta know they don't have french fries and hamburgers!" After turning away from laughing, I ask her if she would like a side of lo mein or white rice for the baby and she says to bring one of each.
Whenever I'm bartending I love when someone looks at our shelf of top brand liquors as well as our sake and asks what we have. Or whenever I inform them that we're out of a certain brand of liquor and they order it anyway. 🤦♂️
