  1. It's facile is what it is. Charlie wasn't nice. Not any nicer than Mack or Tom or anyone else. He could be brusque, chippy, and unpleasant. And he apparently cheated with a married woman. He was a guy that knew some things about football but wasn't up to running a program. He's sloppy and inattentive in general. He didn't know his players. He didn't know his team. He didn't know HS coaches and he never made an effort to improve. Christ he didn't even know what offense he was running.
  2. Remember when Carolina hired Lou Holtz? And then Steve Spurrier? Oh wait that was South Carolina.
  3. I think Mack would do well back at UNC. It's a good gig for him, he did well there back when, and he's probably still a good coach. All he has to do is get past some also-rans and lose to Clemson and a couple other hefties each year and BOOM. Mack's back. I've always liked UNC. We lived in Charlotte for a bit when I was young and it was my first game. Got to hug Ramsey. Can't say I'm a fan but I like to see them do well.
  4. Same here. Andersen too. I'm still in on Doeren, though! Seems familiar somehow... Is he qualified to be a position coach, maybe a coordinator? But not a head coach?
  5. On a related note, Sumlin choked away a 16 point lead in the final 4 minutes to lose to Arizona State and miss a bowl game.
  6. But they're SECOND PLACE in the SEC West, which is pretty much the NFL. Any other team in the country wouldn't finish any better than fifth.
  7. We just observed that Harbaugh could use an offensive coordinator if he wants to keep his job.
  8. Harbaugh seems determined to play his style of play. But even Saban had to come out of his comfort zone and open up the offense to stay competitive, and Harbauhj will have to as well or he won't have the chance.
  9. Need to keep an eye on this thread
  10. Holgo is excited
  11. Coaching. That first decision to go for the TD inside the 10 instead of kicking shows the mindset. They have to score or they'll lose. Now that attitude is infecting the team. Holgo is a bitch and OU is in his head. Mack Brown special.
  12. They need to get their heads in the game. Holgo and crew are obviously intimidated by OU and he has his team believing they need to score a TD every possession or they'll lose. Panic mode is incoming, be ready. Stupid coaching. Wish they played us like that.
  13. I keep switching the the Apple Cup but the production is awful and it's snowing now. Wazzu offense is doing that thing Leach teams sometimes do in high stakes games
  14. Dear God these are the worst defenses I've ever seen
  15. All WVU needs to do is get pressure on Murray. I count him 2/4 when under pressure and the one time he's been hit he coughed up the ball. That's how we beat him.
  16. Kyler Mahrrie
  17. Final Score: W 24-17 First Downs: Texas – 19 KU – 14 Third Down Conversions Texas – 6-15 KU – 9-18 Total Yards: Texas - 297 KU - 296 Passing: Texas – 16-28, 154 yds, 2TD, 2 int KU - 18-35, 159 yards, 1TD, int Rushing: Texas - 41-143, 3.5 ypc, TD KU - 33-137, 4.2 ypc, TD TOP Texas – 34:49 KU – 25:11 Turnovers: Texas - 2 KU - 1 Penalties: Texas – 4-35 KU – 9-98 Obviously Sam wasn't 100%, but we did enough to win. Limited Kansas' explosive plays especially in the passing game, and played disciplined possession ball.

  19. I don't miss the blowouts at all. How Mack managed to do that with the teams he had is beyond me. Eh. I think it was inevitable. You just pulled the trigger first. This has been the worst period for Texas football...maybe ever. We were all irritable.
  20. I predicted 8-4 this year, and we surpassed that. I didn't think we'd be playing in the Big 12 CCG or a major bowl this year. I'm very impressed.
  21. It wasn't pretty but we got the job done. Very proud.
  22. Tom Herman matched Strong's 3 year win total in 2 years. Both now have 16 wins at UT
  23. Tom Herman just matched Strong's win total of 16 wins. Strong did it in 3. Herman did it in 2.
  24. 9-3. Beat my prediction
  25. My uncle was a lineman for the Hoosiers in the 60s, joined the USAF after college to avoid the draft and retired in the 90s. He and my mom grew up in Speedway, Indianapolis and were buddies with all the Indy 500 folks. Still tight with a few of them. First cousin that played DB for an NAIA school in Kentucky, and his son did the same. He's won some championships as a HS coach. The best story, by far, is the time my brother-in-law told the family that he made the Dallas Cowboys after a local tryout in Tyler, TX 15 years or so ago. That one's become a holiday tradition in our family, although we wait until he and my sister aren't around to tell it.
