  1. Steal his wallet and Sharpie his face when he's out. Seriously, tell him what happened and you're concerned. No harm in that. Too much pussyfooting around nowadays.
  2. Reading the posts about construction jobs, the low pay and physical exertion toll always brings a smile to my face when considering the lily-white, soft and out of touch know-it-alls on this board and out in the wild that complain about construction guys getting paid to much for their work, saying it can't be that hard and they're entitled to low, low prices but deserve the finest workmanship in these United States. Every human with a sack, hanging or not, should work construction for at least one hot summer or cold winter. Working with your hands and back is a good gauge for the rest of your life.
  3. My dad would give me a penny for school lunch and tell me to make it last all week and bring back the change.
  4. Lugging hot asphalt and then shoveling gravel onto a roof top conveyor doing commercial roof work for the old man. β€œHey, dad, it’s awful hot out here. Mind if I get a sip of water and take a break?” β€œNot today, boy. Water will cramp you up. Get back to work.”

  6. If the back left leg gets injured then the right antler can grow abnormally. Seems to always be the opposite. Dunno why. Mongo is a simple man.
  7. Cryptorchidism is the term. It’s the opposite of β€œlet your nuts hang.”
  8. Lots of factors. Really odd ones like in the picture is probably not due to an injury to a or both hind legs or injury to the antlers during developmental velvet stage. Probably not bad nutrition either. I would bet the buck with the odd antlers had a testicle or both that didn’t drop into the scrotum where they / it stays cooler than its own internal body temp like it should thus causing hormone imbalance leading to the odd and small antlers. If his testicles stay up in his body cavity because of a genetic or other permanent issue then he probably would have his next set of antlers turn up abnormal again I could be wrong.
  9. In hail prone states, there is a big difference between retail roofing contractors that survive on hailstorm work ("stormers") and roofing contractors that do new construction. Each of these two types of RCs may or may not have a robust re-roof book of business even with no hail storm insurance money involved. Stormers are in and out: close the deal, swap out the roof, maximize margins as much as possible, get paid, move on. New construction roofers can be on jobs for a year or more. (Our record covers 3 turns of calendar years). Many to most stormers will have "offices" in every large to medium-sized city in hail prone states. The office consists of a local phone number that transfers the the mothership office in what ever city they are based in. When the hail storm bat signal goes up they mobilize to hit the storm affected area. I go to Charlotte and Pittsburgh quite a bit. Neither is a hail prone area. It is surprising how few residential RCs there are in those cities. When compared to Texas, both NC and PA require licensing so there is a barrier to entry for the industry and a reduced amount of contractors. I have been approached a several times by "entrepreneurs" that have asked me how they can get into the roofing business. My first question to them is "why would you want to do that?" I get the same answer every time: "there's a lot of money in re-roofing houses for insurance claim money." We don't do much storm work. Most of what we do is high-end new construction roofing, waterproofing and sheet metal work. We also do a fair amount of re-roofing for homeowners. On occasion it is related to an insurance claim. I agree that the days of easy, insurance money roof replacements are drawing near to end.

  15. Enjoyed a bottle of this for my birthday weekend. The Irish are new to distilling rye? In any case, very tasty. I like smooth and no burn. On rocks or with a splash. This met the criteria.

  18. Gotta have one pointing down into the borrow ditch scanning for coons and one pointed up in the trees searching possums.
  19. The dad didn't have to skin it, saved money on processing testosterone laden rut meat and got a head start on a Euro mount.
  20. No later that 11 in the AM and everything.
  21. All the troglodytes standing there in their jerseys with their smart phones taking video. What a collection of losers. God help this country.
  22. I've ahead of you. Just had my 60th. Got all my hair and no gray. The devil is easy to deal with. Why would I need a soul in the first place?
