  1. Ha! Right there with you on the three point production. That inside game is going to be pure entertainment, so many problems for opposing coaches to try and prepare for but the whole thing opens up with we can knock down some timely threes. This inside is so good I keep forgetting about Gaston. Will be nice not to have to worry about Ebo running out of gas, and foul trouble won't be such an issue with our depth. Can't wait.
  2. I hear your point but the better players you attract to your program the more you run into "Dream Team" problems - how to get all these good players minutes. I think these are the problems we want to have and I guess we have to get into the frame of mind that players are going to leave at times to get more minutes elsewhere. You just hope the players you keep are the top players you want. The one area I think we could have an issue with is our 3 point production. That's where the loss of Matharu hurts. Girl could shoot. But with Vic's defense, better production inside, and just a general upgrade for our whole offense that may not hurt us that bad. Harmon's 3% may go up with a season under her belt and we know her 45 foot shot is golden. She's close to ok at .319% Holle is going to get some looks so she needs to get that .273 up. Morris is good at .350 and Gonzales is a better shooter than .227 (I know, you are what your record says you are), she seemed to drop her 3% every year for some reason but I trust Vic to sort that out. And Hunter is a possible diamond from 3 if she can just take care of the rest of her game and get some playing time. Great to see her working on her handles.
  3. Love to see Hunter doing work on her game. Looks like she's focused and hopefully will make a big leap this year.
  4. Ouch. She always looked pretty lost on D and had some silly turnovers in limited minutes but that's not unusual for a freshman. I don't think that shooting against New Orleans was a fluke - hard for a shooter to get into a rhythm with limited playing time but she still shot .389% from 3 for the year. Vic has a number of new pieces that need to get playing time at the beginning of the year but I really hope Hunter gets some burn. It did take guts to hang around and with the recent departures her staying should really endear her to the fan base. Go Hunter.
  5. Maybe but I think it was a blow-up. Vic said earlier happily "I may not be done" (getting recruits). They are taking forever to update the roster and staff on the website. It took a while to remove Kobe but Matharu is gone already. Furq.
  6. That was my feeling as well but still that's a hit, she was an important piece for Vic. We've had a lot of people transfer out, 7 since the beginning of last year. Gonzales for Matharu an upgrade?
  7. Yeah, I don't know about "strategy" or "options" either. Putin says she stays she stays, Putin says she goes she goes. Logic/arguments be damned.
  8. She visited us, then North Carolina State. Today Rori stared following her in the Insta and she started following Rori. Let's just call that a good sign.
  9. Yeah, David, Tim, Manu and Tony all made this group look much better than they were/are. Never been fully on board with Popovich. Bob Hill went 62-20 and 59-23 in his first two seasons, then they kept Robinson out on purpose the next year (1996) and went 3-18, Pop said Hill had "lost the team" and then took over as coach the day they brought David back. Riiiight.
  10. Looks like his short list is Miami or Phoenix so he's shopping for a contenda. Not sure we qualify for that this decade.
  11. Sitting here trying to imagine Pop telling Russ we need to lose. How comical would that be to have Porzingis, Westbrook and Conley on the bench while we roll out Wieskamp and Bates-Diop? Westbrook's head exploding in 5..4..3..2..
  12. I could absolutely believe this to be true, hell I do think it's true, but that deal was the best you could get for a 25 year old All Star? Are we so focused on tanking that we don't care if we don't get any value for our trade assets?
  13. Yeah, I was thinking of going for the first all white/asian team in the last 40 years to assure our place in line. Much as I hate where we are today the plan going forwards HAS to be swinging for the fences by losing to get the French Freak. That seems the only decent chance of getting out of this hole. And by decent I mean competing with 7-8 other teams to be one of the suckiest 3 teams, each of which will still only have a 14% chance of the top pick. Aaaaand then Wembanyama has to turn out to be the real deal and stick with us.
  14. Yeah, this is where I'm at. What's the plan here really? Apparently we have no players good enough to keep so if they have any trade value at all let's trade them away for some future prayer with a low percentage chance of working out. Maybe the front office is just hoping to hit it lucky again and get a franchise player in the draft so they can develop him and then he can get pissy and leave so we are crap again. Excellent. They just traded away a young All-Star.
  15. Yeah, I don't see Hurst joining the team for a number of reasons, but I'm still very hopeful for Shaylee. I would think Texas would be an attractive coaching destination for any young coach, Vic has a winning reputation and he has had a number of assistants go on to be head coaches. Somehow I don't think he is striking out on candidates, I think it's more a matter of timing and reshuffling what he has now. We did have an unprecedented number of positions to fill (except when we changed head coaches). The lack of coaches named didn't appear to stop his ability to get good players. The staff directory:
  16. Ha! No they are not. I am very pleased but shocked we're in contention for Shaylee. She is the much bigger get than Gabby and if she comes she has two years left so I would expect some roster attrition from her coming. Other than shooting very poorly from 3 last year (.227) she puts up great numbers. She's a WNBA talent level player at 5'10" averaging 18 ppg and almost 5 assists per game. Holy hells if we get her we are really knocking on the natty door. She would require big minutes however and Rori's not giving up any of hers So I would expect Gonzales in the 2-3 spots and maybe backing up Harmon when she sits for the 10 seconds Vic allows her on the bench. Picking up Gabby would be great too, 5'6" one year rental averaging 2.5 assists per game and shooting .382 from 3. I would really like some sharp shooters on the perimeter next year to free up the beast core we have now down in the paint. I have not heard she has shown any interest in UT but Vic saying he's not done makes me think he is working on the guards now. Kobe leaving made me think how much the transfer portal has changed the lives of the athletes. It creates instability for the coaches for sure but unless you are a coveted talent and in the drivers seat you are at the mercy of the portal each year if you want to play. Don't unpack all yer stuff. Hopefully we pick up another guard/wing but anyway you look at it this is a solid club next year.
  17. Well plus, after Chevalier left and attempted to trash Vic and the program, to have a Tech player turn around and immediately transfer over to the 40 must really chap Gerlich's ass. She probably thought with Ashley's noise they could hurt Vic's recruiting but obviously so much not.
