  1. Bohls today: "On a mission. If Rodney Terry guides this Texas men’s basketball team to, say, the Elite Eight or Final Four, how would the Longhorns brass not seriously consider him as the permanent replacement for the ousted Chris Beard? Here’s the pros of doing that. Entering Tuesday night’s Iowa State game, he’s 8-1 since taking over the reins (one win over a ranked team) and is proving himself every game. While the team hasn’t always looked great (three bad first halves in a row at home), he and the team should be judged by the final results even if Beard put it together, and they’re in second place in the Big 12. The players clearly believe in him, trust him and like him. That’s no small point. Terry’s anything but uptight in his new role, totally at ease and open with the media, actually returns a text unlike his predecessor and so far has passed nearly every test. Athletic director Chris Del Conte always preaches stability and continuity, so Terry has that in his favor as well. Don’t underestimate the value of Terry’s experienced staff because Bob Donewald Jr. (11 international teams), Steve McClain (14 years at Wyoming, Illinois-Chicago) and Chris Ogden (three years at UTA) have all been head coaches. … What I’m hearing to date on any coaching search is retired Villanova coach Jay Wright seems perfectly content to stay retired, Kentucky’s John Calipari won’t be seriously considered, Gonzaga’s Mark Few is unlikely to leave the Pacific Northwest and Alabama’s Nate Oats would probably rebuff Texas' overtures because he’s excelling in Tuscaloosa, has less pressure there than he would in Austin, is making good money and is thriving in a community that worships football. Wonder if Texas would make a run at Virginia’s corporate-looking Tony Bennett (a national title, but ultra-slow pace on offense and making $3.6 million) or look at UTEP’s Joe Golding (who beat Texas while at Abilene Christian, but also is a close friend of Beard’s). … So eager is Texas to distance itself from the Beard mess that the school chose to reprint not only about 200 of the yearly team media guides but also the laminated media credentials because both had Beard’s picture on them. Out of sight …"
  2. Some of you aren't posting as much now, I know you jackwagons are getting drunk. Only 9 more minutes to go, try to stay conscious for a change, you wankers. Need to go Timmy old school until the end. That and Rice drives to the cup.
  3. Great patience on that possession. Threes are killing us.
  4. Just Disu with 2 fouls. Gotta stop the turnovers from the traps
  5. No but almost half time and we have a tough experienced team.
  6. Can't keep getting caught in the traps. Rodney coach them up.
  7. They've hit 5 threes, we've hit 2 Gotta be aggressive.
  8. Needed to call it after they hit the shot. Talked to the refs about it.
  9. Rodney should have called a time out and had it out with the refs after Mitchell went down.
  10. Shooting 61% to their 39% Hunter leading all with 9
  11. if this wakes Hunter up look out Big12. Carr, Hunter, Rice - Hell of a back court.
  12. This team is mature and mentally tough. Exactly what you want for a road game against a ranked opponent.
  13. Big12 saw things differently: Oklahoma State’s Naomie Alnatas (co-player) plus Texas Tech’s Bre’Amber Scott (co-player) and Jasmine Shavers (freshman) were bestowed with Big 12 women’s basketball weekly awards for games ending January 15. Here is the Big12's selection in action the week before: BScott expresses herself Nice way to reward a young lady for representing the conference with class. 👍🏽
  14. No. 25 Texas (13-5, 4-1 Big 12) at Texas Tech (14-4, 2-3 Big 12) Wednesday, January 18, 2023 – 7:00 p.m. Central United Supermarkets Arena – Lubbock, Texas TELEVISION: The game will be streamed nationally on Big 12 Now/ESPN+ with Ron Thulin, Brandi Poole (Ex Texas Tech Assistant Coach) and Arielle Schafer on the call. RADIO: The game will be carried on 105.3 FM in Austin. Craig Way (pxp) and Kathy Harston (analyst) will call the action. The broadcast will be streamed on TexasSports.Com. RORI HARMON: Sophomore All-American Rori Harmon made history on Jan. 4 in the Longhorns win over TCU as she became the 4th player in program history to record a triple-double. Harmon scored 17 points and added 11 assists and 10 rebounds. After missing the first five games of the season due to injury, the Longhorns are 11-2 with Harmon in the lineup this season. In Big 12 play, Harmon is averaging 11.4 ppg, 9.2 apg, 7.0 rpg and 2.2 spg. DEFENSE GETTING IT DONE: Last time out the Longhorns held an Iowa State team that was averaging 78.7 points per game to 53 points. Texas gave up six points in the fourth quarter to the Cyclones, marking the 14th time this season they have held an opponent to single digits for a quarter. Texas is 12-0 on the season when they hold an opponent to 59 points or less for a game. Texas leads the Big 12 and ranks 7th in the NCAA in blocked shots per game at 5.6. FORCING TURNOVERS: The Longhorns are forcing 22.4 turnovers per game. In the last eight games they hold a 209-68 advantage over opponents in points off turnovers. Texas ranks 8th in the NCAA in turnovers forced per game and 11th in the NCAA in turnover margin. FAYE/GASTON DUO: Khadija Faye and DeYona Gaston are stepping up in the absence of Aaliyah Moore, who is out with a season ending ACL injury. Faye, who transferred from Texas Tech, has four double-double on the season. In Big 12 play, Gaston is averaging 14.6 points per game and shooting 58.5 percent from the field. GOING THE DISTANCE: Rori Harmon has played 40 minutes in three of the Longhorns five conference games and has only missed six minutes over the five games. Harmon has reached double-digit assists in four of her last six games and despite missing the first five games of the season, Harmon ranks 18th in the NCAA in total assists with 96 (7.4 per game). Embrace the hate and sharpen those elbows, this one could get ugly....
  15. She doesn't force her own offense either. Shoots .556.
  16. Terry’s path to the job is CDC getting turned down by probably Oats first, then Musselman and then maybe Cal or whoever else CDC has on his “why not give them a call” list. If he keeps striking out suddenly Terry will be CDC’s favorite son and my fears will be realized. The press and the support of whatever players/recruits we have left and how far he gets in the tourney will be a small influence. *all bets are off if he wins the whole MF’er
  17. I like Carolyn Peck trying to say what Iowa Sate needs to do to win down 17 with 1:14 to go. WTF?
  18. This D is wicked. They have 2 points in the fourth Shaylee with the 3
  19. Hells yes. We got some separation now, let's keep building on it.
  20. Amina running the floor well. She's gonna solid for us for years.
