Harmon was recently named to the Wade Trophy Watch list for the top collegiate women's basketball player, marking her eighth preseason honor. Last time out Harmon dished out 10 assists and scored nine points. The Longhorns are 3-1 with Harmon in the lineup this season. GASTON BIG 12 PLAYER OF THE WEEK: DeYona Gaston was named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Dec. 12. Gaston posted career-highs of 20 points and 16 rebounds in the Longhorns win over Alabama State on Sunday. 2. Certainly better than our last coach. oh wait..... Better than our previously last coach.
  3. Thanks for posting that @perfectchaos007 Hadi and Gaston both played great. Poor sound on the questions again. Watching that and seeing how upset the team was you have to give them massive credit for continuing to play at a high level after AMo went down. Yeah, doesn’t look good. It's been a rough one. One of those wins that feels like a big loss. Still hoping for the best though. Dammit.
  4. Well, we are who our record says we are. Today. But the team looked better last time and with a lot of new players working to get on board with Vic's system it's going to take a while. But you can already see Shaylee, Sonya, Hadi and the freshman looking more comfortable, strangely enough though it's Holle and Moore that seem to have regressed a bit. Wish Jones wasn't going to be out, would like to have the whole team learning together and she is a very important piece for us if she can stay on the court. (not including Kyndall under "whole team" anymore)
  5. Cathartic game for us, the right opponent at the right time, should build some confidence. Nice to see the smiling faces, Shaylee and Sonya both with great games and looking more comfortable. With Taylor out Hadi getting some valuable time. Fun game to watch, we will get there. Go Ladys!
  6. Spot on. We could really use Matharu right now. Best shooter we have is Sonya, and Vic dog housed her in the second half. Might be hurt….
  7. Puisi played 40 minutes, 25 points, 10 for 19 and 5 for 11 from three. They are 8 and 3 we are 3 and 4..... This is not like losing to a much lesser team, they will be in the tournament. Not the team I expected this year, but we are a work in progress. At least Shaylee looked better and when we get Jones back that should help. Don't see that patented Vic defense yet, hopefully in a month the team play will be better. Go Horns.
  8. Puisi killed us in this game. Great shooter.
  9. We needed that bucket Hadi missed, but at least she got the board on the other end. Tough game, great opponent.
  10. If Taylor wasn't out we'd be looking a lot better. Her presence in the paint is crucial for us this year. C'mon Ladys!
  11. This is a very good South Florida team. Pounded lesser teams and only lost to the ranked opponents. They are 7 and 2 Beat TCU Georgia Tech and Alabama. Only lost by five to number 17 Michigan And we have a long way to go to figure this out. They appear to have better shooters than us, and we look terrible in transition D
  12. #18/22 Texas (3-3, 0-0 Big 12) vs South Florida (7-2, 0-0 American) Friday, December 2, 2022 – 6:00 p.m. Central Moody Center – Austin, Texas GameDay Quick Facts TELEVISION: The game will be televised on Longhorn Network with David Saltzman (pxp) and Andrea Lloyd on the call. RADIO: The game will be carried on 105.3 FM in Austin. Roger Wallace (pxp) and Kathy Harston (analyst) will call the action. The broadcast will be streamed on TexasSports.Com. SERIES: The series is tied 1-1. Most recently South Florida won in 2019 in Tampa with a 64-57 victory in the Longhorns season opener. Notables RORI'S RETURN: After sitting out the first five games of the season with a toe injury, sophomore All-American Rori Harmon made her return in the Longhorns win vs Princeton. Harmon played 24 minutes and scored 11 points and added two assists and one steal. Harmon was recently named to the Wade Trophy Watch list for the top collegiate women's basketball player, marking her eighth preseason honor. TOUGH SCHEDULE: The Longhorns have played a challenging schedule through their first six games. All three of their defeats are against top-25 teams with two of the three against top-10 teams. MAJOR MINUTES FOR THE FRESHMEN: The Texas freshmen Amina Muhammad and Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda have played significant minutes for the Longhorns. Muhammad is averaging 19.4 minutes per games and Mwenentanda is at 22.1 minutes. Muhammad scored a team-high 14 points in the Texas win over Rutgers in the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament. GETTING DEFENSIVE: The Longhorns are holding opponents to 60.17 points per game this season. Every opponent Texas has faced has scored below their season scoring average for the game. The Longhorns rank third in the Big 12 in scoring defense.
  13. Good game against a quality opponent. I'd try letting Sonya bring the ball up versus pressure when Harmon is out.
  14. Excellent, thanks. No TV I guess.
  15. Hard to believe the loss one player could drop us from title contenda to unranked but I'm clinging to that hope now. Very disappointed but we knew we were extremely thin at guard. We also lost most of our staff and I wonder if we are getting some adequate instruction at the different positions, but the issue is mainly lack of ball handlers. When Rori comes back (I’m guessing not tonight but next Sunday vs Princeton) all the players will go back to their intended roles and I’ll bet we’re damned good again. This team obviously is flawed but still might slip through all the way to Dallas. We have some great pieces, we just need to get our captain back and get everyone working together. In the days of the portal, it may take longer for teams to show their true potential. Looks like the losers game tonight is still on the weird streaming service and not even on ESPN+. Furq.
  16. We really need Kyndall, but even when she was present, she had a hard time getting on the court. If she truly is having some “non-playing time” related mental issues, I’m sorry about that, but at this point it just feels like she scampered and let the team down. Vic obviously counted on her being the fourth guard and it’s hurting us now. With the new NIL mentality players are acknowledged to be massively important financially to teams. If you burn a scholarship and refuse to play you are definitely damaging to the team’s ability to make money in the tourney and be successful. The team has a responsibility to you, and you have a responsibility to the team. You may suck, but at least show up. (Still hating on Kawhi stealing 18 million off my Spurs and refusing to play..)
  17. The team, the coach, the crowd, the arena. This is not just a great game, it's the evolution of a program to greatness. Finally.
  18. No. 3/3 Women’s Basketball’s Rori Harmon and Shaylee Gonzales named to Wooden Award Watch List Way to go ladies!
  19. All of this. I didn’t realize it but Shaylee played 37 minutes versus UConn. She’s got a different skill set from Rori and under very difficult circumstances she laced them up and didn’t back down. She fought hard for our team and entire the fanbase should appreciate her effort. Thank you Shaylee. Moore was far more aggressive last night and I didn’t agree with some of the calls going against her. She was only able to stay on the floor for 22 minutes so that hurt her numbers (14 minutes vs Louisiana). Along with the foul trouble the lack of 3 point shooters may be hurting her game, but we only have a small sample size so far. I thought she was going to be this year’s stud but so far Sonya and Taylor look to be our scorers. If Rori plays or Fudd isn’t on fire we win that game….. or if we don’t miss the 10 FTs.. or if we aren’t playing in Storrs… I hope we get them again at the end of the year. Wasn’t a home and home was it?
  20. Jak, 5 for 7, 1 for 1 from three, 3 boards, 1 steal, 13 points, only 1 turnover and 2 fouls. Great game and huge improvement from the freshman!
