  1. Would have liked to have had Buchanan. Wish we would get a few more coaches hired. Seems to be dragging out.
  2. Looks like we play at maybe 2:00 tomorrow on the twitter or USAB.com Holle, Harmon, Matharu and Moore
  3. Not sure why you would wait this long to put your name in the portal except if the team you were playing on had some new additions at your position. You would want to end up at the best possible place for yourself. But these are younger people and it can certainly take a while for anyone to make up their mind. Welcome to the new normal at this time of year. Watching the clock, waiting to see who stays and who goes. In some ways you almost want to be a player's second team. They have made it through the freshman's anger at not getting enough playing time while they develop, and they have to sit a long year if they transfer again.
  4. As per HornFans - Dillon Mitchel and Jordana Codio went to the prom together. Daaamn.... Not sure if true but:
  5. She's still on the official website. They took down Lattimore and Chevalier really quick so that's something. The Taylor Jones signing was great but I was hoping for a few more portal wins by now, we keep striking out. I certainly thought we would have signed Faye already but Taylor may have affected that. Really sorry about Fields, her going to AZ may have helped us keep Kyndall though but we need some wing / guard help badly. Hopefully Shay and Kyndall will both show improvement next year and maybe a healthy Kobe will come out of the gate strong. I'm hoping Vic has a plan C, D, and E but right now we seem to be falling behind in the portal sweepstakes. Not even sure what the targets at guard / wing would be now.
  6. Good for her, they made it to the Sweet 16 this year, pounded OU in Norman. 24 -9 on the year. I wonder why ND? Just glad she is out of the conference, they got themselves a great one.
  7. I understand your point and it's certainly valid but: "Between January 1978, and January 1990, Conradt's Lady Longhorns did not lose a Southwest Conference game, a streak of 183 consecutive conference victories.[7] From 1986 to 1991, Texas was the women's basketball attendance leader, including an NCAA record average of 8,481 for one season.[4]" " Good times. Texas (Southwest Conference) (1982–1996) 1982–83 Texas 30–3 8–0 1st NCAA Elite Eight 1983–84 Texas 32–3 16–0 1st NCAA Elite Eight 1984–85 Texas 28–3 16–0 1st NCAA Sweet Sixteen 1985–86 Texas 34–0 16–0 1st NCAA Champions 1986–87 Texas 31–2 16–0 1st NCAA Final Four 1987–88 Texas 32–3 16–0 1st NCAA Elite Eight 1988–89 Texas 27–5 16–0 1st NCAA Elite Eight 1989–90 Texas 27–5 15–1 T-1st NCAA Elite Eight Absolutely different eras though and Vic just went to two elite eights in a far more competitive field, but I can't say I didn't like it when the only question was would we lose a conference game this year or not. And also F Baylor.
  8. By my understanding we are still waiting to hear from: 1. Lauren Fields 5'9" Guard for 2022 2. Khadija Faye 6'4" Post for 2022 3. Breya Cunningham 6'4" Post for 2023 4. Possibly Fatou Samb 6"4" post for 2022 Fields is the more immediate need and I wonder how the addition of Taylor Jones is affecting the decision of Faye. Cunningham probably not so much but is the bigger long shot. I'll bet less used players on each team are hopeful portal players make their decision before May 1rst so they can portal out themselves if need be and not have to sit a year. Tricky business.
  9. I wonder if she (Codio) is going to redshirt this next year. ACL twice doesn't sound good.
  10. Being an older white guy maybe he tries to balance things out by hiring more relatable assistants for the young ladies and their families. Always has a great staff. I was worried not having all the assistant coaches in place was going to hurt us in the portal and recruiting but so far that has not been the case. Laflin would be a recruiting demon.
  11. As a coach, I wonder how you evaluate that. Talent / distraction / players commitment to ball / getting attention for the program. A number of factors at play. I'm sure physical appearance is a big part of the NIL game especially on the women's side. Strange times. I wonder if there is a report of NIL money being taken in by a teams players or if that is all private.
  12. GISELLA MAUL GUARD CEDAR PARK HS Junior HEIGHT: 5-FOOT-10 HIGHLIGHTED STATS 25.6 POINTS PER GAME (AVERAGE) 8.2 REBOUNDS PER GAME (AVERAGE) 3.1 ASSISTS PER GAME (AVERAGE) 2.9 STEALS PER GAME (AVERAGE) “Gisella Maul is the most unstoppable player we watched or played against. She can create her own scoring opportunities, she can shoot it from outside anywhere she wants and finishes at the goal. She is a fantastic player.” John Berkman Head Coach - head coach of Marble Falls High Athletic Excellence The 5-foot-10 junior guard had led the Timberwolves to a 36-0 record, 61 straight wins and a berth in the Class 5A state championship game at the time of her selection. Maul averaged 25.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.9 steals per game through 36 games. The MVP of the 2021 Class 5A state title game and a 2021 First Team All-State selection, she is ranked as the nation’s No. 45 recruit in the Class of 2023 by HoopGurlz. Academic Achievement Maul has maintained a weighted 4.33 GPA in the classroom. She will begin her senior year of high school this fall. Exemplary Character Maul has volunteered locally making baked goods and treats for first responders and medical facilities. She has also donated her time at a local nursing home.
  13. I wonder if they are still going after Samb.
  14. Wow, great write-up. Thanks much, very helpful. Just add Fields and some coaches and the off-season has been a big success, even with the loss of Latasha.
  15. Cedar Park's Gisella Maul earns Gatorade state player of the year Less than a week after leading Cedar Park’s girls basketball team to a perfect season and a second consecutive Class 5A state championship, Gisella Maul became the first student-athlete from the Austin area named the 2021-22 Gatorade Texas girls basketball player of the year. More:Cedar Park girls complete perfect season, wins Class 5A title - see the photos The prestigious award, now in its 37th year, recognizes “outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court,” according to a press release issued by Gatorade. Maul, a 5-foot-10 junior guard certainly showed those traits during her junior season, when she averaged 25.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.9 steals a game and earned state most valuable player honors after scoring 27 points and pulling down 19 rebounds in a 45-40 win over Frisco Memorial. Really got us a great one. The future with Vic just keeps getting brighter and brighter.
  16. F'ing A! Awesome way to start the week.
  17. I'm a little worried about scholarship numbers at this point. Seem to be getting a lot of commits from the portal and recruiting, hope everyone has a chair when the dust settles. Must drive the staff crazy figuring eligibility and meeting all the position needs each year. You also wonder if anyone else already on the team will portal with the new additions.
  18. Yeah, I'd be really happy with that. Taylor is in, Faye probably but Fields is still a big if. She just got in from sunny SoCal - USC, I hope the staff give her the royal treatment today.
  19. Maybe @Js1 knows more but I don't see her listed as no contact. She didn't make a big splash about transferring or even announcing which makes me think she is leaving but doesn't consider herself "on the market". Vic and Lovato following her on twitter. All Academic B12 Rookie team in 2021 so she's smart and knows joining us is the right thing to do. 👍🏽
  20. I feeling pretty good about Gisella, Mikaylah not so much but you never know.
