  1. Sort of. We'll probably lose Kingham, Shugart, Sawyer, PJR, and McGuire. We definitely lost more talent last year, but we also have less talent to replace what we lost this year (barring some freshmen phenoms), so I think the impact on the team will be similar. Next year will probably be a healthy step back, especially losing Kody's production, with 2020 being the year we rebound when a lot of the elite arms we bring in this recruiting class have some seasoning.
  2. I hope you see that gif when you close your eyes to sleep at night.
  3. Shugart has been a sometimes frustrating player to root for during his time here, but damn, if he isn't making up for all that this last month. Closed out the IU game with two strikeouts with bases loaded. Pitched well against TTech, and now he's just fucking dealing against UF with strikeout after strikeout.
  4. Eh. I enjoyed watching Iowa State have a resurgence under Campbell last year, especially during their OU game. Now, if they beat us at home this year, then I'm deleting this post. I also generally root for Okie State when they're not playing us or their games don't have an affect on where we finish in conference. I guess, what I'm really saying is I enjoy watching teams beat OU or teams that hate OU. So, in conclusion, fuck OU.
  5. There's no way he's coming back. Dick move of him to not tell them, but they should know anyways. Plus, if Lebron was coming back, he'd want input on who they pick, or more likely, want them to trade it for a vet. He definitely wouldn't be silent on the topic.
  6. We are swinging right over that sinker. Our batters are not reading it at all.
  7. On the bright side, good to have that many RISP this early in the game. On the down side, we've been doing this shit all year.
  8. Well, he's also not a very good bunter so...

  10. Uhhh, Barnes VORP (like WAR in baseball): -0.1, he had an Ortg of 105 and a Drtg of 111, which is a net of negative 6 points per 100 possessions. He had a WS/48 of .70. League average is .100. He's not good and he's massively overpaid. Just because he's the Mavs 2nd best player doesn't mean he's valuable. He's a net negative, especially with his contract factored in.
  11. Parsons contract isn't that bad and there's only two years left. Next year, it could become an asset as an expriring contract to another team. Plus, who the hell are the Grizzlies gonna sign even if they dumped that money? No big time free agent is going there. Dumping Parson's deal is only valuable if there's someone you need to sign with that money. Regarding your trade, Parsons and Barnes both have two years left at $24-25 mil. So the Griz would not get any cap relief and would only get Barnes for the #4 pick. That is a god awful trade. Barnes is arguably a net negative when you factor in his contract. Lol. Barnes might be worth a late first to some teams who have no cap space but need/want to improve, but he's not very good. Pretty much every advanced metric says he's an average to below average player AND he's being paid $25 million per year.
  12. I've seen a ton of talk about the Griz wanting to get rid of Parsons' contract, which is obvious. Why wouldn't they? But then people keep assuming they're willing to just dump the #4 overall pick to do so. Where are people getting this huge jump from?! That would be an insane amount to give up.
  13. I'd tentatively pick Rising over Thompson. I'd much more confidently pick Sam over Shane, although I think both will be relied on this year. If Sam can cut down his turnovers/bone head plays even just by half this year, he'll be a significantly better option than Shane. Sam moved the ball much better than Shane did last year. Also, Sam fits what the staff wants to run better and Herman/Beck showed last year they're not very willing to adjust what they want to do.
  14. So many ridiculous things about this post. lulz. First, that's not what he said. He said "build and arm." Rising is a better passer and has a much higher ceiling as a passer. Thompson struggled quite a bit with being consistently accurate in HS. Second, making a comparison to how much weight VY gained is ridiculous. Thompson's frame could limit how much he can run. He's 6'0, 190 with a fairly slender frame. He's also already pretty developed physically, so he doesn't have a whole lot of weight to add. All that said, I like both a lot and it's tremendous that we got two quality QBs in the same class. They're very different players and the offense would look different with each of them at the helm. At this point, it's hard to say who will be better because they both have a lot of developing left to do, and who knows what rate each will develop at.
  15. I agree. Right around pick #5 is where I'd start to consider taking him.
  16. This is a very important thing to remember. You should probably go post it on the Football board and tell them we let players take pictures with chrome helmet logos that appear Tennessee orange while adding some black to the jersey just to see some heads explode with the remains flying right by some "get off my lawn!" signs.
  17. The talk about DL recruiting isn't in regard to how it will affect us this year.
  18. Eh. I disagree the issue is just limited to 2019 in-state talent. The staff has gone OOS at almost every other position where there are deficiencies with the 2019 in-state crop or they missed out on in-state targets: WR (Smith and some other targets), DB (Watson, likely getting Adimora and/or Gates) LB (Floyd and possibly others), RB (Cain, sort of), TE. So far, we could get Williams for DL (I'm not clear on where we're at with him), but he seems to be the only realistic option right now, maybe things get hotter with Johnson or the Hawaiian kid. Without going back into the 2018 stuff or the conversation we had earier this cylce, I'll just say the staff has missed more at DL since it got here than any other position, and by a good bit. They've mitigated those misses pretty well and will hopefully continue to do so, but they have been missing. I'm not putting much faith in it; it's just the only thing I've seen either way. I'd be happy to not see Tatum at OU, although I hope he gets it worked out somewhere else.
  19. I'm not sure. It seemed strange to me. There's not much film on him, so it's a little hard to tell, but I haven't seen any film of him that was all that impressive. His testing numbers aren't very good at all, and I don't think he'll provide much pass rush. Height & Weight: 6'4" 249lbs Nike Football Rating: 65.48 40 Yard Dash: 5.22 Shuttle: 5.01 Vertical: 24.4 Powerball: 37.5 He does have some basketball clips where he shows good functional athleticism. My guess is the staff thinks he can be a 6'4 Chris Nelson, which is a good, useful player. Yeah, LSU lost a ton and the spots where they still have some good talent don't have depth behind that talent. If they're lucky, they could stay healthy and ahve a year like last year but if a couple injuries hit they'll be in a world of trouble. Burrow is the wild card. Without him they were going to be absolutely fucked. If it turns out that he's really good, then they'll be fine this year most likely. Regardless, I think the mess and lack of organization/guidance from Coach O will overshadow LSU's talent.
  20. Their's definitely some question marks. It sounds like Tatum's issue was just a class he never took because his school admin screwed up, so I'm thinking he'll make it in. If not, that 's a huge blow because he's really underrated. He's a borderline 5 star IMO. Agree that Perkins is overrated, although I would've liked to get him last year regardless. Idk much about Johnson. He seemed kind of overrated and a guy who struggles with weight recovering from an ACL tear is iffy, but if one of those guys turnout, plus having Tatum and Redmond (who's also weirdly overrated but still really good due to 247 making him the #16 player in teh country. WTF!), that's still a great class. Their 2019 class isn't quite as strong so far, but that DC kid they got is good and I like Marcus Hicks a lot too. Edit: Sejir makes a good point. Fuck OU. They suck.
