  1. Your use of "Charlie Weak" is extremely pitiful and very aggy. That alone deserved a neg, but you didn't stop there. Malik's a guy who's worked his ass off, been a great face of the program, dealt with bad coaching his first two years, continued to be a team leader even through the coaching change, and just captained one of the best defenses we've had in a while. The fact that you're glad Charlie guys, like Malik, Poona, and Deshon Elliott are leaving is unbelievably stupid. Those guys (Holton Hill excluded obviously) were all hard workers who didn't cause any problems off the field and proved to be very good players once they received some competent coaching. It's all about perspective. A lot of people were broke and scraping together meals during college, so they would've given a lot to have the accommodations current football players have. However, if they were a surefire NFL prospect instead of some average joe, and had to do all this stuff and not get paid until they were eligible, they'd likely feel the same way as Malik. Sure, Malik could've worded it better and not sounded quite so entitled, but bashing him for that is just ridiculous. See post above as an example.
  2. It wasn't going to be good if Hamm was right on his 15 predictions a month out from NSD 2016 either.
  3. This seems appropriate for the Tim Beck thread.
  4. I"ve only seen the parts of their spring game posted on here, but so far that defense looks like hot garbage, and I can't imagine their run defense is anything special, either.
  5. Lulz. I really wonder if Tarp is too dumb to recognize that's a base Cover 3 or is just saying he doesn't know to soften the blow of how shitty of a job Starkel Motion did on that play. That might have been the only receiver he couldn't have thrown an easy completion to. Especially the guy who ran an out that Elam had no feel for. The best part is Elam should've slid towards that receiver, but instead his being out of place combined with Starkel's horrible read resulted in a pick.
  6. You are one pessimistic, pedantic little motherfucker. Also, RBG meme > accuracy.
  7. Fuck you Kevin Morgan! On an unrelated note, I'm gonna have to stop by an Eskimo Hut today...
  8. Uhhh wouldn't that make it a good move? Do I need to teach you how betting works? Seems like you should probably learn now that Notorious RBG and Co.'s ruling came down today.
  9. Can't wait for the NBA to set up betting kiosks in every stadium so you can bet live during the game. Shit just got real!
  10. I think it's obvious the staff thinks he's a great talent and has made him a priority since the start of the cycle. I'd be willing to bet Katfid's entire life savings that the staff has a much higher grade on him than the recruiting services do right now. Even when we seemed to be in a good spot with Wilson and Higgins, the staff still made Wright a priority, so I don't think it has to do with where we stand on other prospects.
  11. This is my understanding as well and yet, I've never had a young TX whiskey that I thought was worth the price. They do seem to have decent flavor, but the finish always seems to be poor.
  12. The coaching comment was kind of silly, but now that he doesn’t have to worry about class or anything else, he can devote all his time to his craft, which usually results in improvement, especially for someone who’s only been punting an American football for three years
  13. Luuuulz. Even comparing a class that includes Bobby Wolfe to our 2018 db is outrageous.
  14. I guess ESPN and Rivals can't be bothered to rate him? Rivals has no rating but I couldn't even find a page for him on ESPN. Based on his hudl, he has a very good frame, good burst, and already can hold his own in the run game. He does a good job of keeping his pad level and using his long arms to leverage OL and stonewall them in the run game. I did find this sec country article on him while looking for his ratings. https://www.seccountry.com/arkansas/arkansas-football-recruiting-zach-williams It appears he is going to have quite a few more big time offers in the coming months. We seem to be in a good position for him, and we were definitely one of the first big time schools to offer/recruit him (sorry TCU). This was a good eval by the staff to throw our hat in the ring relatively early for him.
  15. Yeah, I'll be curious to see if this was a one hit wonder or not. But I will say, I'm enjoying this bottle, and $28 is hard to beat.
  16. Look man. I don't make the rules; i just follow them. The shag had clearly defined rules for this sort of thing and if Machinator gets to break the rules, we'll all break the rules. It'll be anarchy!
  17. Somewhat to my surprise, I actually did like the McKenna better. I'm not as high on Eagle Rare as some on this board, although I do like it. I was very impressed with the McKenna; I thought it was very good and if the next bottle is as good as this one, it's going to become a staple in my liquor cabinet.
  18. Does someone want to tell him? I'll volunteer for this one. JFC man. He was making a joke about the "no existing credit history" line, not saying CTJ or TFB were racist for criticizing Strong. You're the one who just started that discussion.
  19. Since this is Surly, I DISAGREE WITH THIS!!! ... sort of. Mack not pushing guys out probably had a tiny bit to do with the state of the roster but really, with the kind of classes Mack was taking during the last third of his tenure here, signing a max class every year wouldn't have done a whole lot to help. Most of those classes were full of bread at the bottom already. If Mack had more space, he would've been adding more guys like he had at the bottom of those classes not the top, which basically would've resulted in getting rid of a Junior JAG and replacing him with a Freshman JAG. I think the lack of national recruiting had much more to do with roster issues than not pushing as many guys out as he could have.
  20. If you can't see how where Gunnel goes could affect Texas recruiting, then you probably shouldn't be attempting to be thread police. It's the doldrums of the offseason, this thread will wander some at times.
