  1. I just booked Italy from September 15th until October 2nd. We're flying Emirates business class from JFK to Milan and back. Holy crap, I'm not going to want to get off the plane. We'll have complimentary chauffeur service to and from both airports and the treatment from Emirates looks to be extraordinary. I can only imagine what their first class service is like. No itinerary yet except for flights. I was hoping to do the F1 race at Monza but I couldn't make it work.

  3. I'm looking at Milan to JFK on September 30th. American wants 135000 miles per person for business class. Emirates wants 87000 miles per person for their business class which is vastly superior. No brainer decision for me on who to fly. You and I are in agreement thuderlounge. 👍
  4. While I agree when I look at the AA award charts I see 180000 miles for a business class ticket from Miami to Milan. Iberia costs be about 1/3 of that in Avios. I just can't justify the difference in miles for the class of service I desire. I'm not really concerned with domestic flights because those are easy and generally are business trips which I have the company pay.
  5. The only problem with BA is that thery always route you through Heathrow so you get stuck with those fuel surcharges. It's one reason I transfer my Avios to Iberia so I can route through Madrid without the hefty surcharges.
  6. Lol, like practice helps Lance Stroll.
  7. It's definitely not worth the $3k over Sliver for me. I think I've been upgraded twice when I had Gold. I'll have to look to see what Silver lacks that Gold has but I don't think it's much. Amex jst offered a platinum card with 150000 MR points after a $15k spend over 3 months. That isn't a problem as I currently generate multiples of that a month. I'd get rid of the gold and take the platinum but I have 10 employees with cards on the gold account and moving them over would be a major PITA.

    Disc Golf

Bump because disc golf is awesome. I started playing a little over a month ago. I'm a forehand thrower as I threw frisbee that way for decades. With a frisbee I was a thumb thrower which doesn't translate to disc golf but the throwing motion is similar enough. I conitnue to progress and learn. The biggest thing is getting consistency off the tee. My approach shots are already solid which I almost always throw with a cheetah.
  9. United offered to move me from silver to gold today for the low, low price of $3085. Fuck that. I had gold and it did little to nothing for me.
  10. Honestly, I'd put him at the top of the list of great American songwriters and was surprised he wasn't mentioned until your post.
  11. Sir, this is a cost is no object hole.
  12. Lol, We've done work for Santander and built environments in data centers for Crowdstrike.
  13. We did the same 37 years ago and also had Fiji and Laui on the itinerary. The view from that WWII watching post of the top of the mopuntain on Bora Bora (P P) is epic and may be the single most beautiful view I've seen. Oh, still married to her after 37 years.
  14. We stayed at the Sofitel on Moorea on our honeymoon back in the day. There were no overwater bungalows then so we settled for a bungalow right on the water. It was glorious. We also did a waterfall hike that was really enjoyable.
  15. So it looks like Charles and Carlos are one of the 40% of the drivers in the paddock that get along well.
  16. I was there in 1986 on my honeymoon. Everyone on the island and everyone in French Polynesia called it Bora Bora. Maybe the OP just has shitty hearing. It’s certain that he’s a pretentious ass so at least he has that going for him.
  17. My youngest is 29 and he's an authorized user on the business platinum so he can get his own damned lounge access. 😀
  18. Yeah, it seems like he's getting through a loophole because the new rules are pretty clear. With all due respect to Ag it pisses me off to no end when I go into a lounge for peace and quiet and someones kids are there misbehaving because daddy has a credit card.
  19. I've been watching Gangs of London. I'm enjoying it but I am a sucker for gratuitous violence.
  20. Nice. Is your wife a cardholder on your account? If she is she does not count as a guest.
  21. 50 years ago today our minds were blown.
  22. Until you drive one into a boom lift.
  23. We have beren twice during Carnival which coincides with Fat Tuesday and the beginning of Mardi Gras. IMO, there is no better time to go to Isla Mujeres. Every night is a party and a celebration that week. This year Fat Tuesday is on February 22nd.
