  1. Here's where we are now. 9/15 Milan, 9/16-9/18 Verona (daytrip to Burano and Murano), 9/18-9/21 Dolomites, 9/21-9/26 Bologna (with daytrips to Modena and Ferrara), 9/26-9/28 Cinque Terre (will just hang out in and explore one town, no hiking), 9/28-10/1 Piedmonte region (Serralunga), 10/1 Milan hotel for 10/2 flight home. Two days to have a car and explore the Dolomites. We've done Venice before so we'll stay in Verona to check it out and train to Venice for the Murano and Burano daytrip. Bologna we'll take a little time to explore and daytrip without having to pack and travel for several days. Cinque Terre we're interested in but don't feel like spending a ton of time there. Piedmonte will be at our favorite little agritourismo in the middle of the Barolo wine region. Exploring and vineyards will be filling our days. Thoughts are welcome.
  2. Thanks for the recommendation on Ortisei. The hotel at Prager Wildsee requires three nights minimum and although beautiful I'm not sure it's a spot I want to do three days at. We may stay in Cortina d-Amprezzo because it's more centrally located and we can daytrip from there easily. I've decided to bag the Aosta Valley for this trip. We're doing one mountain setting in the Dolomites and Aosta is all the way across northern Italy. Right now the trip is shaping up as 1 night in Milan, 3 nights in the Dolomites, 2 nights in Venice, 4 nights in Vernona/Bologna, possibly 2 nights in Cinque Terre and then finish up in Piedmonte near Alba. I need to get my vineyard fix and there's no better place in the world than Piedmonte for that. So, it appears we'll be traveling around a bit more than I'd like so we may pare the sites down a bit. That said, none of this is travel over great distances and the trains are fast.
  3. If you want to be on the water I’d do Mallorca. Valencia’s beaches are like mud. The east coast of Mallorca is awesome.
  4. A few questions about those that have done northern Italy. We're looking at a few locations that aren't typical. Lake Brales, the Dolomites and Aosta Valley. Any input is appreciated. We'll be filling in later portions of the trip with Bologna and Florence although Cinque Terre isn't out of the question. The trip is from 9/15 - 10/2 and we'll probably stay at four locations max as we overdid the traveling in Spain and felt like we were traveling too much during the trip. That was 22 days but we stayed in 7 locations. This trip is 16 days bookended by travel to and from Milan.
  5. Time Sympathy for the Devil
  6. Mallorca was amazing as was Seville and Toledo.
  7. So they can have overtime, duh. And yes, it’s stupid as fuck.
  8. We are doing a cruise in Norway in August and I expect it to be a completely different crowd than the typical Caribbean cruise crowd (and that's a good thing).
  9. A380. We are as excited for the flights as we are for the trip.
  10. Get a driver and go to Cal's. You'll get away from the crowd for a while.
  11. Prayers. Roatan is a divers haven. I can tell you that the prices go up when the cruise ship is in town. We've stayed on West Bay Beach a couple of times. Iron Shore Grill is the best restaurant on the beach if you want to get lunch. The rest is all basically bar food. If you have a car or driver Cal's Cantina has fantastic food. Cal lacks in personality but the man can cook.
  12. I love his personality but his driving was shit last season. He did nothing to help himself.
  13. My Crack
  14. Stroll has zero personality and daddy bought him the ride so…
  15. How could an idiot think it's ok to drive on the Ponte Vecchio? It's clearly a walking bridge.
  16. ONE MORE DAY!!
  17. If you can generate enough spend Amex MR are great for transferring to BA or Iberia Avios. Once or twice a year there is a 1:1.4 transfer. It used to be 1:1.6. Those were the days. Please note that you need an Iberia FF account for 90 days before you can transfer Avios in so plan ahead.
  18. Absolutely not and I would not suggest that you do. Driving the Amalfi Coast is not for the faint of heart. There is a ferry out of Naples to get you to Sorrento and additional ferries between the towns and to Capri as well. Driving in Tuscany is just like driving in the US. There can be a lot of bicyclists but there is also a lot more respect there between bikers and drivers.
  19. That seems reasonable to me. We plan our trips around one suitcase each and a carry-on at that if we can manage it. We're doing northern Italy (a couple of off the beaten path places) in September. Because we'll be up by the Alps and Dolomites we may have to pack more clothing than normal. You'll be able to take high speed trains from Naples to Florence and then rent a car to enjoy Tuscany and another high speed train from Florence to Rome.
  20. A lot of them have grown on me. Hamilton is one for sure as I have been impressed by how he's conducted himself when the team has clearly had issues with the car.
  21. It might be an opportunity to see exactly how much of an asshole he really is. Don't get me wrong I love to see Alonso drive but his reputation precedes him.
  22. Tropical islands generally have a drier side and a wetter side. St. Barths is a great example. You're driving and it is green, green, green and then you round a curve and everything is brown. I'm not so sure about French Polynesia but it is certainly common in the Caribbean.
  23. An entire episode is dedicated to Ferrari and their fuck ups last year.
  24. The holy grail of arrechera.
  25. Why? I think Bottas is awesome. Definitely a guy I'd love to have a beer or twelve with.
