  1. I've been there more times than I can count and have many friends on the island. We've never had a problem using credit cards there. Taking SOME cash is always a good idea. It simply isn't true. Again, it is the US. It's not a fucking third world country.
  2. Credit cards work pretty much everywhere on St. John. You can take some cash if you want but it's still the US. It's nothing like Isla Mujeres or Isla Holbox where cash is preferred.
  3. Recs? Extra Virgin first, ZoZo's seems to be back open, 1864, La Tapa, Banana Deck, Morgan's Mango. The first four restaurants are great but Extra Virgin is probably tops on the island now. Head over to the other side of the island for lunch and hit Skinny Legs. If you do a boat day then have floating tacos and drinks at Lime Out.
  4. It's because there are amateur stewards at every race.
  5. The internet there is sketchy on a normal day. People go outside to parks in the evening to get online. When you walk or drive by a park that's a hotspot there are a bunch of people online.
  6. Put Cantore on the weather.

Year of the Cat arrived yesterday along with Graceland. Need to kick my wife out of the house so I can put them on and turn it up.

  9. Let's tell people that have little to no contact with the outside world that we won't shelter them. Damn.
  10. We spent a long weekend in Havana in November of 2018. I echo Harrison's comments.
  11. I'd rather a really nice Barolo or Super Tuscan or a higher end Brunello. I'd take any of those over most California cabs.
  12. The beaches are on the northern side almost exclusively. The Coral Bay side is the rockier side of the island (more exposed). The eastern sides of the islands tend to have less beaches for the most part.
  13. The Mexico part of the Caribbean isn’t really much like the rest of the Caribbean.
  14. My next charter will be St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
  15. We received the DocuSign today so it appears that the process is coming to a close for us.
  16. Count me among that group. I’m not sure if we’d survive 2020 without PPP. Our 2021 growth is off the charts with no slowing down in sight.
  17. BVI quarantine has been lifted. Day trips to White Bay!!
  18. The new hell is funding the second round of EIDL loans. It's a disaster.
  19. RIP Caneel Bay. Perhaps someday it will be back.
  20. Apologies if it seems like I'm trying to dissuade you. There's just a ton of differences in the two islands including the vibe on the island. Enjoy your trip!
  21. Stay in Cruz Bay and you can taxi or ride the taxi bus to beaches. St. John is 60% national forest and covered with trails. St. Thomas is the single most visited cruise ship destination in the world so you get all that comes with that. Yes, it is easy to get to St. J from Red Hook and quick.
  22. It's an easy day trip. Just take the ferry from Red Hook and 15 minutes later you're on St. John. When you spend a little time on St. John you'll wish you'd chosen it as your destination. Yes, it is that much better.
  23. As soon as they released the forgiveness rules. I think it was late April.
  24. Round 2 forgiven. Note arrived in today’s mail.
