  1. Good try. That's gonna last until next year -- you're gonna be in here regurgitating Gordon Wood, talkin' about, you know, the Pre-revolutionary utopia and the capital-forming effects of military mobilization.
  2. More book talk. I laid out pragmatic reasons why the movie Chani would be pissed and not your pretend book Chani that doesnt exist except in a different version. It’s almost 60 years old. It’s the Tom Bombadil LOTR talk all over again. “Moody, Petulant”? I saw a heart-broken, disillusioned movie character who was privy to Paul’s doubts and thoughts and felt betrayed. Your preconceptions are irrelevant about how badass the book Chani is. Fuck Book Chani. I hope she got killed off.
  3. Its an effort to extend the bench, where we’re average. High energy guys like Weaver fit the profile. They want Horton to start and help with better spacing. If Horton plays well then you have more options. If he doesnt we’ve seen him ride pine.
  4. Movie was better than book in this scene by a lot. And who cares about the book? Lot of updates seem like huge improvements. A strict retelling of the book in a movie would be a catastrophe.
  5. Both Chicago and Moulin Rouge were beatings. Great post.
  6. So you strenuously object to our constitution and reality? The reality is that the problem isnt that we have fake mentally ill who are truly competent to stand trial. Its that we have really mentally ill people that are incompetent.
  7. He probably hears “Thats Gold!” yelled at him by strangers 50x a day
  8. So if someone shared an opinion that Once Upon a Time in the West was poor, but that they didnt go for Westerns, should we give a shit about their opinion about Westerns? Your opinion is not forbidden. You just undermined it and so we have no respect for your thoughts in this area.
  9. Used Cars is an early Robert Zemeckis classic. For this forum - a bad movie - but i love me some Shakespeare in Love - will watch it every time it’s on.
  10. Couple more thoughts on Dune 2: The Movie: 1) Very enjoyable in imax. Great movie. 2) Walken is long past his prime and was miscast 3) Didnt care for the Paul and Chani’s plot armor. As dozen of Fremens get mowed down by air power, Paul and Chani are the only survivors. At least mix in a handful of survivors. Then next scene they are all partying it up - I get it, lives are expendable - but you suffered 90% casualties. Do better. You’re fighting sociopaths. They arent going to quit because of some damage to mining equipment. 4) After movie a man behind me was describing David Lynch’s movie, starring a singer named “Sting” - just Sting, from an 80’s band called “The Police”. I turned around and it was a dad talking to his teenaged son. Surprised he didnt jog the kids memory by saying Sting was in the streaming hit “Only Murders…” 5) Teenage girl sitting next to me bought the special Dune popcorn bucket. Had it in her lap the entire time. Took a few bites and carried it out with her. I then saw some dudes spill a bucket in their car. Are people selling these on ebay?
  11. I’ve never been able to find a “You’re perfect!” gif (re: sorority shower scene)
  12. Hello darkness my old friend
  13. So many people are pissing on Rush Lumbaughs grave that its starting to smell
  14. Had the exact opposite opinion. Irishman was overly long and was one of my least favorite Scorsese if not the worst IMO. The de-aging was absurd. It was run of the mill mob movie.
  15. Better than Dune but I didnt see that in the theater. A near perfect movie
