  1. The 2018 runner up campaign was not what got Herman in trouble. The 2019 team underperformed badly. One of the worst coaching jobs I’ve ever seen* Derailed the program. Led to massive coaching and player attrition. *LSU’s 2019 offense was far better than anyone here imagined at the time. Think it crushed the D’s confidence and Herman’s confidence in Orlando. Then the offense regressed to the point where we were outmatched against Iowa St and Baylor. At one point lost 4 of 6, which including a last minute win at home against Kansas. Then in the Alamo Bowl we curb stomped Utah behind a healthy Ehlinger and Ingram and a simplified defensive scheme featuring Joseph Ossai rushing the passer. Showcases what happens when coaches get out of their own way and when Big12 refs are not tipping the scales.
  2. When OU needed to score, they knew they could. They did not want to get Gabriel injured by running him throughout. And they did not want to get in a shootout. Their scripted plays and 2-minute drill obliterated us. Old school Big 12 offenses would light us up.
  3. A lot of issues get solved when the game gets moved to 230. Because Ive long realized for 11am games it realty means you have to find a suitable Cotton Bowl entrance at 10am.
  4. I knew someone was out there. That coverage was madness.
  5. Only playing 10 guys doesnt seem like a sound strategy when we want to stop them from kicking a field goal.
  6. Think it started at the Fair Ground gate. We just walked in. So you dont need a ticket. I assume plenty of bum rushes in the Cotton Bowl. Just a cluster. We arrived 50 min before kick and used the corner gate no probs but we were amazed how many people were already there. By far a better experience at Texas OU than at DKR. The PA not working was a blessing. Felt like a college football game. Epilogue: >Hopefully this will be our last 11am kick. It blows for so many reasons. You morning people can still enjoy your sunrise bloody mary no matter the time. >Hate the troughs in the pisser. Some kid had a geyser going and my leg caught the ricochet.
  7. Ive seen Gabriel play only a few times. Against Kansas St last year he looked like a dangerous runner that could gash teams badly. Dude clearly is elusive and has wheels. That he didnt have designed runs against Tulsa should be discarded.
  8. And thats a losing mentality. Stupid shit like a sacrifice bunt to avoid the double play. Im sure OU fans were delighted to see a handoff there, forcing our middling kicker to attempt a long field goal with an ample 1:30 left. 50:50 shot he misses. Or at least enough clock for Gabriel to get to work.
  9. In realtime we didnt understand why we didnt milk the clock after the first first down of the drive. Wasnt hindsight, just observations of years of watching winning football. I was doing the milking cow gesture, as opposed to the milking humans one.
  10. 2008 we were down 6 and needed a TD. We finally got to first and goal, ran a play, then ran a 2nd play for a TD. So really just one play where Mack and Colt should have slowed it down. Today was a head scratcher. Defensible in that they liked the rhythm, but yielding control of the game.
  11. Well the coaches were wrong. You keep em on the field, prevent subbing, get them to show their defense, change the play if you want, control the game.
  12. Good > Cotton Bowl atmosphere. Could barely hear loud speaker but heard 4-5 long Texas Fights without the aid of a DJ > Quinn Ewers after 1st quarter. Dude was throwing dimes Bad > JT Sanders physicality. Was getting rag dolled. He should be dominant especially against DBs > Officiating > Pussy start to game. Credit Sark for making some ballsy 4th down calls to wake them up. Ugly > The Gooners > Soft zones > Red zones > Not milking the clock then turtling
  13. Sounds like you’re upset and offended. Follow your own advice. Besides, “Woke” belongs to CR unless we’re discussing the god awful 11am kickoff time for OU game most years.
  14. 3 hour gameday kinda sucks
  15. Brent Venables doesn’t just protest homosexuality at funerals of strangers (like soldiers), he shows this conviction at relatives and friends funerals.
  16. Think McAfee should be 8-9 with pre-gameday deep dive into whatever university they’re at and 9-11 for the real show.
  17. When BV and his wife fly into Austin every year for SXSW, they spend most of their time in Waco to enjoy the Magnolia store and restaurant.
  18. Brent V’Onofrio loves 11am kickoffs. If it were up to him, he’d start each game at sunrise. He loves his morning routine and imposing them on others. His greatest joy is waking up 4 minutes before his alarm is set to go off.
