  1. The problem is domestic. We have 4% of the world’s population and consume about 1/2 of the world’s drugs. Its big business and cartels are part of a system we established. To put it back on topic, we have a lot of assholes that are baked most of the time and sometimes they are disruptive passengers.
  2. If you’re with your buddies talking classic Hill Street Blues and one of them starts in on wokism, its taken a political turn from your discussion on who wins between Buntz vs Sipowicz.
  3. Take it to the Cloak Room, grandpa
  4. Had they sold tickets for $5 at Randalls, they still wouldnt have sold out NRG for the past several seasons. The franchise is a drag on the NFL and its worth is based solely on the market.
  5. From what we know and surmising the rest, I’m not sure Texas had a play to keep Beard around given he’s in a toxic relationship and the likelihood of future distractions and embarrassment. I dont see a scenario where he’s rolling with RT at any big name program. And if and when they break up, it will not be clean. Let him break up as an ex-coach of Texas. A&M will absolutely hire his ass with or without the carnival, obviously.
  6. Other media helps glamorize these thugs. One trend Im seeing now on social media are clips showing Tony Soprano as a badass. The viewer, who may have never watched the series, then gets a distorted view of his character, not showing his weaknesses and ugliness.
  7. I was driving my coworkers in San Antonio, where I grew up, and found myself talking like a tour guide explaining all the landmarks and museums. Im my fucking parents. That commercial hits close to home.
  8. FIFY - before tailgate at Baylor game
  9. We also rushed and missed the XP to avoid replay
  10. It’s not just what happened, its what will happen in the future. Looking at the risk assessment of retaining Beard: 1) How likely is Beard will be violent again, and against staff or students? This incident could put other interactions in a different context. 2) How likely will the relationship blow up? He’s gonna remain engaged with someone who falsely accused him? he’s poised to end it? or He’s the problem no matter who he’s involved with? 3) Are there past incidents, evidence, text messages, 911 calls, photos likely to embarrass/undermine decision to keep him? 4) How this incident impacts Beard’s ability to coach and recruit 5) PR hit is probably the least of the issues if the above risks are low. But a PR campaign to restore Beard’s reputation if you keep him is bound to backfire and represents another risk. Especially if you are dependent on Beard’s fiancee to cooperate. Going to the SEC Texas has inherent advantages that it can leverage - location, resources, branding. Making bad decisions and ignoring slow motion train wrecks is not an advantage going into the SEC. Regarding Beard, I really like his program building and intensity. X’s and O’s seemed solid. But his offenses are not elite. You look at the above and take a shot at doing better. It’s a dick shot for sure. But could pay dividends. I think if the rumors are true and his future wife is volatile, then I can see BMD not wanting the drama and hits to UT’s reputation. Whether Beard dumps her, she blackmails him, she airs all the dirty laundry, etc. Or they fight again. They dont want it.
  11. With all them coaches, it’s like a million dollar quartet
  12. Thats why we need to start the 45th Presidential Library Expiatory Committee to pay for our travel expenses in search of a site - Vegas, New Orleans, Ibiza.
  13. Nice touch I didnt notice before. Miles Bron stylized after Frank TJ Mackey - Tom Cruise from Magnolia.
  14. Must be cool watching him sign bibles and having the pen singe the cover and seeing the black smoke rise from it.
  15. His approval ratings were bad throughout and people were sick of his shit. The pandemic helped him stoke fear, solidify the working class, etc. Him getting sick near the election was the difference.
  16. Quick Google Search of a concept long discussed and widely researched. “Why Do Domestic Violence Victims Recant? Why It's More Complicated Than Fear of More Violence” https://www.verywellmind.com/why-do-domestic-violence-victims-recant-66537 This doesnt even get into victims of rich and powerful. Her recanting means a lot in a criminal court and likelihood of conviction with a standard of beyond a reasonable doubt, but not as much the determination by outsiders, employers, players, parents, and court of public opinion.
  17. You’ll find it next to another leaflet, “Famous Jewish Sports Legends”
  18. I get it. I thought Road to Perdition was a bit pretentious (the crime photographer, slow motion shots). Maybe Newman’s performance puts it there.
  19. I’m old enough to remember both Charlie Strong and Herman pulling Top 5 classes. When the coaching staff weaknesses were not yet revealed. It remains to be seen how Sark’s back to back classes will development, but coaching ability, scouting, and alignment will be key. A plan executed by competent individuals is what’s new, hopefully.
  20. 2001 release. Was made before 9/11
  21. Yeah forgot Michael Clayton and Get Out. One sign of a great movie is that every scene is valuable. And if it’s not, its an exceptional scene - like the improve scenes you sometimes see in Scorsese movies for example. In Michael Clayton, thing every scene is pivotal and builds off the next. Get Out was also an amazingly crafted film.
