  1. Austin Massey said the visit went well and that it was important for Quinn to see how he would fit into Kittley's offense.
  2. Ah, I misunderstood that part. Still, all the reports before the in home stuff was that McGuire was going to be there.
  3. Please sir. Don't make me. Anything but that.
  4. I know I'm getting off topic with this but just wanted to recap the Ewers portal timeline a bit: 1. He goes into the portal. His top school choices are Texas, A&M, and Tech. 2. A&M says no thanks. 3. Reports come out that he is flying out to meet with the Tech staff. Tech 9.95ers obviously jump on this report and start feeling very bullish about their chances of landing Ewers. They feel that since they're the first to get an audience with Ewers he must be serious about his decision to come to Tech. 4. The visit reportedly goes well. Some insiders say that he "loved" Tech. 5. Reports come out that before his Lubbock visit, Sark already had an in-home visit with Ewers. 6. Tech 9.95ers start rumbling about McGuire bringing in Riley Dodge to be the QB coach at Texas Tech. 7. Those rumors turn out to be false. 8. It is announced that Ewers will take an official visit to Texas this weekend where he will be mingling with several 22' recruits. 9. Tech 9.95ers report that McGuire and his new OC Kittley will be having an in-home visit with Ewers on Wednesday night. 10. That visit did not happen. Or, it didn't happen at Ewers home, because Quinn was out hunting yesterday and McGuire was at a Houston awards event last night. --------------------------------------------- Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like anytime Tech gets some momentum with rumors, they turn out to be partly untrue or blatantly false. "Ewers is hoping on a plane and will visit with Tech first!" Yes, he is taking a visit. No, Tech isn't the first. "We're hiring Ewers old high school coach!" No you are not. "McGuire is having an in-home visit with Ewers tonight!" No he did not. He may have met with him at an event, but definitely not an in-home visit.
  5. “Yesterday we reported that McGuire would have an in home meeting with Ewers. Those reports were wrong. Thank you for your $9.95. Not to worry, though! Tech is still in this thing! Absolutely! No question!”
  6. So you’d rather go to the Tech program that got beat 70-35 by a team without an O-Line, no TEs, and one WR?
  7. I was being obtuse with my ribeye vs. CFS comment. Carne Asada is a way better comparison. My wife and I love grabbing a skirt steak and throwing it on the grill. It's cheap and easy. I've just never been crazy about CFS.
  8. Controversial take incoming: Chicken Fried Steak is bad. Just get a ribeye.
  9. Look I don't know much about the kid, but as someone who is from his hometown, I can tell you with certainty that it's a big deal that GPHS won a playoff game. They have been perpetually awful in football. So, if he really is the big reason why: 1. They finished their highest district standings in at least 15 years. 2. Beat their crosstown rival for the first time in a decade. 3. Won a playoff game for the first time in 30 years. He deserves, at the very least, some consideration. I have no idea how he'll do in college. But he literally overcame nearly 30 years of ineptitude at a dead end high school football program.
  10. You really just posted this and thought “Looks good! My work here is done. Time for bed!”
  11. How we doing, night crew? Anybody need any snacks?
  12. Yeah earlier today one of the Tech 9.95ers posted that they were trying to schedule an in-home visit. I don’t think it should make any of us more concerned than we already were.
  13. Sorry, but I’m not going to believe it unless Thamel tweets it out.
  14. Considering that we didn't find out that Ewers already had an in home visit from Sark until after he already had his Lubbock visit, I'd wager that Texas is intentionally keeping things very tight lipped right now. No new isn't because things have gone poorly, but because they're playing things close to the vest.
  15. I'm interested to see how his offense looks against Power 5 competition. WKU only faced two defenses in the top 50 for yards per game, and one of them was Army. They faced three or four defenses that ranked outside the top 100. That's not to say that he can't figure it out against the Big 12, I'm just curious to see how he adapts to better athletes.
  16. It's good enough for my wife and our dogs. We're happy.
  17. Okay as someone who actually lives in Lubbock, let me just say it’s a bad place to visit, but it’s a nice place to live. Not a lot of exciting attractions, but a lot of good food. We’ve got an Alamo drafthouse. Some great BBQ. A couple of Torchy’s tacos. Cost of living is low. It’s nice. It’s no Austin, DFW, or even Waco, but it really is alright when you live here.
  18. I don’t even know that it’s one job is better than the other. Risking the job security of SLC just so you can be the QB coach for an old student of yours is really weird. This part of the Ewers to Tech equation never made sense to me. If Riley was itching to get into the college game, then that’s great. But the idea that he’s just going to uproot his family and livelihood in Dallas to go coach in Lubbock for one single player, however great he may be, is extremely questionable.
  19. Just realized this is not Kittley’s Twitter. His handle is @ZKittley. I’m a dummy.
  20. The Sark pitch to Ewers has to be something like: Tech might be able to drum up enough money to outbid us. But, you’re going to be running for your life every single play. Because any O-Lineman that’s worth anything is going to Austin where, without having to play a down of football, they will sign a NIL deal that’s worth 50k JUST for being a Lineman. I still doubt Tech can outbid Texas for NIL money, but the added bonus of having highly motivated athletes who are being brought in to protect Ewer’s career HAS to be a significant factor.
