  1. Technically no as that would be an inducement to attend, no? The beauty of position room endowments is they can be announced in the media without targeting any particular recruit Setting that floor fairly high while players know they can layer on their own merch, sponsored posts, autograph signings, etc can puts Texas in a very competitive position vs anyone else's NIL opportunities.
  2. That source is basically just a guy and his buddies throwing out opinions and speculation.
  3. Fitting because the coach is Dookie https://youtu.be/iOcrKFiB_ts
  4. that was the short-lived Pelini defense that a tweener like Thornton didn't really fit and that they ultimately abandoned when they canned him. I didn't watch a lot of '21 LSU so have no idea what they ran last year or what the new staff there is going to run, but altering scheme on the regular is a sure recipe for bad defenses
  5. In a world with zero initial counter caps maybe that would be the case, but fishing for a center upgrade in the portal is further down the hierarchy of needs than getting: 1) a viable edge rusher that can pressure opposing QBs while holding up in the run game 2) a competent off-ball LB that can get off blocks 3) a safety that can reliably run the alley and make open field tackles 4) a WR that can consistently make contested catches 5) a OT that isn't a total turnstile in pass pro nor a drive killing penalty machine Maybe some true freshman or existing roster guys can step up to fill some of these needs, but that's where I see room for the portal to help the most.
  6. LSU based out of an odd front (3 man line) where the OLB was a standup edge player, so Ray Thornton was an edge player for them too.
  7. If he signed an NLI, other coaches would have to cease contact with him, so that didn't happen.
  8. Worthy was not a portal guy... He never enrolled at Michigan and was released from his NLI there
  9. I guess the recruiting inducements aspect is harder to prove/enforce with portal transfers as opposed to HS recruits who in many states are barred from inking a deal prior to actual enrollment at the school.
  10. You got me. He was quite the journeyman prior to his stint with Texas. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_Davis_(American_football_coach)
  11. apart!!!! my eyes bleed every time someone thanks a group for allowing them "to be apart of your" apart is separated from a part is an element of 😣
  12. Arkansas? He came to Texas from North Carolina with prior work at Tulane and subsequent at Iowa, but I recall any stint at Arkansas.
  13. You scratched out Dajon Harrison - when did he depart the program? Last I heard he is still on the roster, but maybe I missed an announcement.
  14. The +7 affordance to initial counter cap is to help counter losses due to portal attrition, it is NOT a cap on the number of transfers a team can take. This one time adjustment is meant to give teams the flexibility to replace on 1:1 basis up to 7 players lost to portal attrition and thereby supplement the annual 25 scholarship limit of initial counters which itself has long been squishy because teams were able to back count to prior classes if the max 25 were not used in prior cycle. Texas had at least 1 unused initial counter from the '21 cycle, + their 25 annual initial counters + 7 compensatory counters for players lost to the portal (note: we had way more than 7 exit the program via portal) which is where the 33 initial number came from. Then to add to this, there may be options to grey or blueshirt some of the HS signers to defer their counts to the '23 class. Totally speculation on my part, but the Austin Regents' K might want to greyshirt if Dicker opts to return to use his COVID year. Champ Lewis may be a possible blueshirt candidate since he to my knowledge did not officially visit Texas and did not have an in home visit from the staff, so could enroll in the fall and practice with the team and be put on scholarship and have it count towards '23 class so long as he doesn't play in any games next fall.
  15. Or a Blue, which allows for a fall enrollment to practice, but not play and count towards '23 cycle. Allowable if "not-recruited" which surprisingly only means no in-home visit was used by coaches and no official visit was made by player to the school - both of which apply in Champ's case if I am not mistaken.
  16. So you're saying a 7 has to give up the Boutte? https://youtu.be/RJaGJzhOfqI
  17. Ewers already burned his 1x transfer, so if he wants to TFR again, he'll have to sit out a year barring a waiver from the NCAA
  18. State of Texas NIL law does not apply to Caleb Williams wrt University of Oklahoma
  19. It's corps as in group of people not core as in a nucleus unless you are referring to the core of our WR corps. I hate to be that guy, but I see this malapropism so often it irks me.
