  1. The weight of the evidence over more than two centuries favors it being a constitutional right, one Chief Justice opinion not withstanding. There’s a lot of receipts in that piece if you’re willing to read it.
  2. Smart move. I wouldn’t engage with the substance on this one either if I were you.
  3. I will fully admit I was wrong. I am shocked that the Supreme Court had never ruled on the second amendment in history. Have they ever not heard a case that was 2nd amendment related in order to leave a ruling in place from a lower court? Is it possible or likely that there simply have not been many cases that even made it that far because the 2nd amendment is so accepted as fact? Basically you’re right. A pretty thorough debunking of Chopper’s asinine position.

  5. Geopolitics complicate everything, but almost every policy decision outside of the Fed hiking (which is biggest to be fair) appears to be inflationary. A ton of it is just the reversing of years and years of globalization that was disinflationary. Protectionism, re-onshoring of supply chains. The frustrating one to me is the general approach to energy policy. High energy prices will feed into every part of the global economy. The west have set ourselves up for a lot of this and we don’t appear to be altering course at all. But that’s a whole other thread. Here’s another likely stimulant. No CR please, just sharing what is likely coming and the official gov position on its effect.
  6. It wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me to have someone that represents me support a 21 yo age requirement for purchase of rifles. I think that could potentially help with these school shootings.
  7. I understand the legislative process. I was just piggybacking off another poster’s point about the effect of certain people saying you don’t have the right at all, or shouldn’t. In any case, I’m all for reforms being presented and voted on. See everyone’s cards as far as how relevant the reforms are, and how people will vote on them.
  8. See. There it is again. That’s a long way from a targeted restriction that could help minimize these incidents. Unfortunately for staunch gun control advocates like Neon and POTUS, the Covid lockdowns and all the craziness that followed kind of shut the door on any widespread bans. You mean like the President saying who needs a 9mm?
  9. https://www.nationalreview.com/2015/08/rant-second-amendment-repeal/ I think this is a big part of where discussions break down. Gun owners don’t trust gun control advocates. Their true goals are always much more aggressive than something reasonable like no rifle purchases until 21. See today’s POTUS comments about 9mm handguns.
  10. If you could sum up the energy transition in one sentence, that would be it. Chaser Oh and this is something I hadn’t considered a possibility. Globally, the number of electric vehicles is expected to swell from 7 million to 400 million by 2040. The transition to zero-emission cars is estimated to add 2,000 TWh to annual energy demand by 2050 — a 40% increase — according to a study by global advisory group ICF.

  12. How would you define an assault rifle?
  13. Nonsense huh? Nonsense because you don’t like the findings I guess. Also, nothing vax related here Methods: Our study replicates a highly cited CDC study showing a negative association between school mask mandates and pediatric SARS-CoV-2 cases. We then extend the study using a larger sample of districts and a longer time interval, employing almost six times as much data as the original study. Findings: Replicating the CDC study shows similar results; however, incorporating a larger sample and longer period showed no significant relationship between mask mandates and case rates. These results persisted when using regression methods to control for differences across districts.
  14. I guess we’ll just move the lever somewhere else.
  15. Sorry. It is bad. But I did laugh.
  16. I feel pretty confident that higher energy prices will be the norm. Cost of the “energy transition”.
