I get this sentiment and it’s why I don’t talk to friends about it much at all. If I do it’s friends that I know can afford to invest in it and are looking for places to put money. Like partners at work or friends from school.
I’ve mentioned it to one friend that’s a radiologist for years. He’s always blown it off. Now when he’s planning to move to his hometown he complains about how much home prices are out of control, something isn’t right etc. So I said, see that’s what I’ve been talking about the money’s broken. He still couldn’t get over the hump to buy it that I know of. People will just come to it in their due time.
Of course people want their investment to do well, but I think those that are really into bitcoin specifically have a very ideological basis for it. Besides the endless money printing and its dangers, there’s an ongoing trend toward centralization and control of individual’s finances that is dangerous imo. The big goal for some in govt is a central bank digital currency (CBDC). China is rolling theirs out now. It’s basically the surveillance state’s wet dream. All accounts and transactions traceable and censorable. This is one of the worst things that could happen for personal privacy and freedom. Bitcoin is the best chance we have as Americans to avoid it and everything that could happen if it’s fully utilized/weaponized. I don’t think the average American realizes the high level at which this game is being played and the consequences. This is why I’m passionate about it. To sum up,
