  1. Encounter just dropped on Netflix. E1 is about the Stephenville Lights and the local folks who witnessed it and how their lives changed. A different take on these usual stories.
  2. I don’t think Sterling would take it to the point of absurdity like a Bear - Jackie - Elora love triangle, or the whole res goes to Hawaii. But I want to see Elora dealing with school and new new family, Rita in her job in OKC, Willie Jack learning her wizard ways, Bev and big snagging and all the other little stories still to tell. This one will be in our rewatch list that we go start to end each year or two, like Justified, Arrested Development, Sopranos, etc. it’s a special show and I selfishly wanted him to keep it going another season.
  3. I enjoyed most of s4. I’ve never cared for the son at any age and hated his arc, constant anxiety, his being a bigger emotional vampire than Colin Robinson. I hated his inability to deal with his child and was hoping his girlfriend would dump him. He will likely be an abuser. I’ve always liked best the relationships of Paul and Ally and Jim and Jackie. Paul could be irritating as well. This last episode just kind of ended , which I guess is more like life. Paul and Ally having to take care of aging parents, kids, grandchild, etc. just muddling thru like the rest of us.
  4. I think my favorite was the elders asking Willie Jack to break ground, and then her speech. She was given the mantle of maintaining the traditions and passing them forward. Very small but I liked that Jackie has grown up, got rid of her dye job, and was working in the kitchen with the women cooking. I think she and Bear build a life there in okern.
  5. Well, to be honest, this penalty was at least against a player. Last year he was ejected for shoving the shit out of a Lions medical trainer when they came on the field. He was ejected twice last year. I’m hoping he beats that by two. Four is a great goal JaQuavian Jy'Quese "Quay" Walker!
  6. I think you’re looking at the Gordo personna. He’s a hardworking dude and is no doubt the catalyst for their remarkable increase in ratings last year in the face of Rhyner returning to radio where they obliterated the Freak. He appeared on all the shows and guided them to wake up and get back to work. Just doing 25 hours a week of live talk radio a week is hard fucking work on its own. He could do a podcast of his materiel in his sleep and have an army of subs.
  7. You are correct here. It’s also one DV will likely miss as I would bet he doesn’t wait in line at long line joints. I would imagine he gets seated and served, regardless if he pays the check. Does he get told after an hour long plus wait they’re out of brisket and ribs? I didn’t think of it either because I won’t wait in line more than 15 minutes or so for any restaurant if there are other choices. I’ve eaten a lot of great barbecue but none worth standing in line for hours. A lot of these joints would make more money if they would figure out more efficient ways to turn their tables faster and get folks in and out. Most of them don’t know any other way because they aren’t true restauranteurs; many are hobbyist barbecues who figured out how to monetize it.
  8. I’ve always liked Dan Campbell since his time with the Cowboys. I had hoped he’d get an interview when Garrett was ousted. I think he’s got the right personality to drive a winning team if he gets the players and the coaches.
  9. I really hate the blaring “thiiiiiirrrrd dowwwwn!” On every fucking third down. It’s like every team is mandated to use that. Shut the fuck up.
  10. I hate everything about games in London and Germany. It’s shit for the players, for the fans, and who gives a shit about the appeal of American football over there. The idea of teams over there is horrible. Hey draftee, you’re going to be an ex-pat living in fucking Frankfort. BTW they don’t speak English and aren’t too keen on big black men. Bad for stars and worse for blue collar players. And just add that much more long travel for players. And they play on shitty pitch turf. It’s just about making money for the owners. Players don’t make an extra dime over it.
  11. True. If it weren’t for that fucking contract Dak would be choosing which USFL/XFL team to play for.
  12. Why would Gordon join the DZ? He has zero need for them. If he were to do similar on his own he’d have 4x the subs out of the gate. He’s the only true star on the station. Cumulus will pay him to stay. The Musers will be the last big money crew in the market.
  13. That doesn’t read the way I intended. This story of the pyramids as alien base I was hearing as a kid in Memphis, as one in black radio and the music business thru college, and later in tv and the internets. I meant to add that it was a similar narrative of ancient alien enlightenment to aryans by white supremacists and similar.
  14. Yea Shabuya appeared to be the most balanced of that fucked up group but then she started with the pyramid/alien/battery thing. There are a number of black folks that believe the pyramids were built for black folks as batteries/ transmitters/ space beacons by aliens.
  15. My doc recommends spacing them out by two weeks as well as the rsv vaccine. Her results with those wanting both has been shitty.
  16. I need to watch again as there are Easter eggs hidden. When Elora was leaving for school she was in her dad’s old truck he wanted to sell. Wife caught that one. I’m assuming she has continued to engage with her new family. Hard to see but when Bev leads Big out of the woods she’s got him handcuffed on one wrist and she’s leading him with the other.
  17. Brandon is the most pathetic human I might have ever seen, not just the show, but in my 64 years. Although his futile attempt to just climb a ladder was maybe the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in the show. I also love Probst shouting “Let’s Go Brandon!” Great fun! Emily should be nailed to a raft and drug out to sea. She is batshit fucking crazy.
  18. Holy cow what a great last episode. Such a strong message. And big brought Bev a big zucchini. I hate losing this show. This episode would be the perfect wrap up to this story cycle to then start the next one.
  19. Again it’s midday, and the rev isn’t there unless you were rush Limbaugh. It’s a dying medium. No future really for Jake as iHeart and Cumulus and others are looking forward to killing local talent for either national or AI. For many folks an algorithm or two could be the Musers without missing a beat. It’s a big deal in country radio where smaller market stations are driven by local talent. I think the only way they return to terrestrial radio is if they can’t make the DZ podcast a go. At their current rate they can live and have a pretty chill existence. If the add some more subs and get some sponsors they’ll on the path to the future. When the Musers are gone it’s all gone. Sean bass 24/7 after that.
  20. This is a very true statement. Breakfast is always so good wherever you go. The only thing I’d change in your pic is add some sopapillas with butter and honey. New Mexico my favorite breakfast, followed by New Orleans, Japan, and Oregon.
  21. And where would they go. Dan isn’t an early morning person. Rhynes has pm drive. No one pays extra big money for midday. Expecially at a station struggling to edge out a Laotian show tunes channel. The reality is terrestrial radio is collapsing and the Ticket is a late arrival to the process. I expect they stay on the DZ pod and work on advertising bucks and more subs.
  22. Hurtado FTX got shut down by the health inspectors for having broken refrigeration. So how long was it broken before it got caught? Fuck you Mr Hurtado. First rule of having a restaurant is don’t fucking kill your customers. Another instance of hobbyist pitmaster opens trailer then successful bricks store then embarks on dreams of empire. He closed the first expansion and then opened this Ft worth store in a joint that failed for Derek Allen so bad it ran him out of the bbq biz. (Derek Allen also had the hottest wife in all of bbqdom.) the beginning of the end.
  23. An episode or two mashup of Colin Robinson going to Scranton to work in the original office would have been hilarious. If there had been any spin-offs besides Dwight I think the adventures of Creed would have been quite funny.
