  1. Well, I'm going to hit a few on the way home and don't want to bring a change of clothes.
  2. First. Be nice. Ask them politely to remove the mask. If they refuse and call the cop a cocksucker, be nice. Cop should then ask him to leave if he won't remove the mask. But be nice. If he won't walk, the cop should walk him. But be nice. If the cop can't walk him, get one of the other cops to help, but both will be nice. Be nice. Until it's time not to be nice.
  3. It's silly and rare at this point. People who wear masks in 2024 are either the occasional socially awkward misfit or the rare soul who might be sick or have immune issue. In contrast, there is a very, very large percentage of protesters wearing masks. The organizers encouraged protesters to mask up. And it has zero to do with Covid. It is to disguise their identity. You know this. You aren't that stupid.
  4. Cut off all utilities. And start blasting Hulk Hogan's theme song, "I am a Real American" at 130 decibels and on a loop.
  5. I don't have a problem with him voicing those opinions either. Unless he was calling for imminent violence or threatening someone with imminent violence, he should be free from any recriminations or punishment from state actors. His future employers and his private school can obviously do what they want. I do think masks or disguises should not be allowed in protests. Especially if they are being used to prevent the lawbreakers among otherwise peaceful protests from being caught and prosecuted for violating time/place/manner, damaging property, or committing violence.
  6. Just two more weeks and bro is going to stop the spread!
  7. A college-aged kid wearing a mask outdoors due to covid fears in 2024 is really a thing? Or do you think there might be another reason they are wearing a mask at these outdoor protests?
  8. I never said that so stop lying. Or don't and keep beating up that strawman.
  9. Tents take up more space than a person. You could literally buy and set out as many as it take to occupy the entire space. They are not needed to protest. They also look like shit. It is an entirely reasonable rule. And I am pretty damn sure a court will agree.
  10. Abbot's motivation was wrong. He knows it. He was going for cheap political points with his base.
  11. Why is not allowing people to set up tents on the mall harsh?
  12. You can only take up so much space standing. But setting up tents you are taking up your space and the footprint of your tent or any number of tents you care to set up. Standing space is first come first serve. People eventually will have to use the restroom and vacate the space. Tents can be there indefinitely. Not really a good argument. The mall is not a fucking campground. Leave your tent at home and protest all you want.
  13. The argument is that by setting up tents, you are taking a public space and rendering it occupied and unusable to other members of the public.
  14. Aren't tailgate tents permitted and paid for and only in designated spots? Or do people just throw them up ad hoc on South Mall grass? Been years since I have been to a game.
  15. They are now. Keep up. They can challenge it in court. But right now, in 2024, you cannot wear face masks in these protests. Maybe a court will determine that restriction is overly broad. But I doubt it.
  16. Exactly. The issue with tents is that by setting them up, you are excluding others from using the public space. You are literally occupying public space. You can certainly occupy whatever public space you want with your body. You don't get to use your body to occupy a public space and then a tent to occupy or reserve additional public space. I can't go wheel in my deer blind that's on a trailer either.
  17. You think we are still in the spring of 2020? Of course not. If a pandemic was going on, that would be a factor. It isn't.
  18. You may not like them. But those bans and the bans on masks are very likely enforceable by a reviewing court.

  20. That is untrue. Plenty last week were wearing masks/disguising their faces. Which is against campus rules that have been posted many times in this thread.
