  1. But he writes the songs (except for Gigantic which is a great fucking song)?
  2. They haven't had the original band line up in years, as Kim is apparently just too difficult to work with. So they've had a revolving cast of female bassists. I thought the version with Paz Lenchantin was the best, but she just left. But don't let any of that dissuade you. I saw them last summer and they are playing as well as they've ever played. Granted, I'm a die hard Pixies fan, but they bring all that late 80s/early 90s angst right here to 2025. See them and let me know what you think. By the way, I just did the math, and I've seen Wilco 17 times over the years. I think that's the most I've seen any act. I think Willie may be up there in that range though. I'll save that math for another day.
  3. Yes, she opened for them. They didn't play together though.
  4. Some pron from the Wilco show in Dallas last night.
  5. It was a great set. Lots of good guitpron too. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/wilco/2025/the-pavilion-at-toyota-music-factory-irving-tx-335ddc05.html
  6. From the cheap seats in the 11th row.
  7. And for all that, they lost their Empire entirely, their economy was devastated and they ultimately went from the world superpower to a second tier has been.
  8. It's exchanges like these that have the Judiciary giving a healthy side eye to DOJ attorneys. Which is a big deal in the legal field. The speed with which this admin has enshittened the DOJ and is running off anyone of quality who is working there, has been breathtaking. Just think about the thought process that had to happen there for this DOJ lawyer to say, in essence, "I can't take a position to support the Constitution that a first year law student would see as obvious because I fear personal retribution by my superiors." That is fucking insane.
  9. You know, putting the abject cruelty and stupidity of this aside, the logic of it is what kills me. No one coming to the US says to themselves, "Hey, I might wind up in Libya because of this." People willing to cross the Durian Gap or any of a series of hazards to get to the US are only thinking "Anything is better than where I am, and America is top on the list." Once again, those are the people we WANT here. They're going to succeed, even if their measure for success is just getting here and becoming a productive citizen. And here's the rub - so long as the US is the greatest economic engine in the world, that will continue to be true no matter how cruel these Nazis are to the immigrants they can catch. What they're really doing, is making sure that we are no longer the kind of economic engine that people aspire to emigrate to. Which is the greatest idiocy of all. Anyhoo, morning rant over. Back to my coffee while I can still afford it.
  10. You'd love this book. So many examples of death by misadventure. I love that coroners call it that because "death by your own stupidity" is just too undignified.
  11. Saw Jack White last night at Southside. He put on a great show. I think it was a 50 minute main set, then 5 minutes off stage and another half hour. High energy. Well worth the price of admission. There were a couple moments there where I was like "this must've been something like what Zep was like." The crowd was into it, and he was feeling it. Now it's on to Wilco tonight.
  12. At the very minimum we know he had a good time.
  13. No. Gibson had issues for a while, but Fender has been as good as they've ever been for years now.
  14. Given he's ineligible for governor again (right?), he's pretty much a political non-entity. He's never doing anything outside of FL.
  15. Which is why we'll ultimately wind up here:
  16. Improvise Adapt Overcome
  17. I’ve been missing these kinds of videos lately. Let’s hope they keep coming.
