  1. I just bought a very basic set of drums for my music room as it was all I was missing to have a complete stage set up at home. Didn't get any cymbals though. A long time drummer around town I've played with before and who works over at Dallas Percussion knew I was in the market for something simple when people come over to jam. This set came in and he rang me up and said, "I think I've got your set." It aint the prettiest or most expensive at all. I'll send pics when I get a chance. I just got them. Haven't even set them up yet. Too many other dad chores getting in the way. Our drummer is out of town on vacay and he's going to help me set it up when he gets back. Anyhow, I'm open to ideas on how to find some decent cymbals at a reasonable price. For the guitar guys, I'm perfectly find with Squier quality. Not looking to go full Gibson Murphy Lab before I even know what I'm dealing with. Capiche?
  2. And supernova level anomalous. He was technically amazing, yet could swing and rock with the best of them. I was just sitting around last night riffing on the chorus to Panama in front of the tv last night. Simple, swingy, yet nothing at all like anything else anyone was doing and takes some above average technique to get right. Eddie was a beast and it’s why we remember him so fondly.
  3. They haven't go the word that identity politics is a loser. I keep getting text messages where the lead is "I"m x and I'm black/trans/latino...and I need your money." Who. Gives. A. Shit. Tell me about what you're going to do to WIN and what policies you want to support. I give fuck all about anything else. Win, support policies I support. Period.
  4. It's very true. A conversation we have here on occasion, over the years, under various guises. There's a point of technical ability that while impressive to other guitarists, is not really particularly compelling to the average listener. As my Dad used to say, "If you're a rock or country or pop band, you lose more audience the more complicated your sound gets. Keep it simple. Musicians play themselves out of gigs trying to get technically better." He was right. It's why millions of people will go hear the Stones play three chords rocking out, and Eric Johnson - while technically a master - plays to much smaller houses. Music is about feeling. A lot more people share the feeling of the simpler music of say, the Stones (insert any other pop/rock/country three chords and the truth band here) than they do the feeling of the music of Mr. Johnson. It's like the whole "you using too many big words, so imma take it as a sign of disrespect" meme. tl/dr - Play music that makes the girls dance, and the guys buy them beer.
  5. I totally get that you and I are on the same page with regards to the number. Even if its one tenth the quoted, that's a lot of people who can make life harder on the frontline by stealing/criming behind the lines. I don't want to see innocent Uke's in occupied territories get harmed any more than they already are, but man, more power to the deserters. I know that's where I'd be if I were them. Stay on the line and inevitably die, or have a shot at survival by being a modern day highwayman? I'll take that second option.
  6. Jesus. That can't be good. Wonder what the after looked like.
  7. Man if you’re telling me there’s 50k deserters essentially acting as Ukrainian partisans behind Russian lines, I’m here for that. Luhansk and Donetsk must be the goddam Wild West right about now. *That 50k number seems pretty outlandish to me though.
  8. They shouldn’t be. But they are. Ghosts of the kids from Uvalde out front shoulda toldja.
  9. Are we already to the revolutionaries stabbing the other revolutionaries in the back now? Because that's my favorite part!
  10. I've heard on various news stations, but NPR comes to mind immediately "Trump can't run again". multiple times.
  11. I’m not so sure about that. This timeline and all.
  12. This. If the GOP does this, and the counter by D states sees the Rs go down - which is a real possibility - that may have some positive knock on effects. Maybe then we will see bipartisan support for non-partisan map drawing boards and other common sense voter empowerment laws. LOL.HAHHAHA. Man, I crack myself up.
  13. I think this is the logic. Look at guv DeSadtits down in FLA. It's a golden era for grifters and lunatics. Real Housewives of Columbia gonna be lit.
  14. If they're sending women, what does that say about Russian "traditional values?" Lives of the youth - no matter which gender - are equally worthless.
  15. This makes me so ragey and it’s the perfect example of the catch 22 that is fascist law. Don’t follow the law? We kidnap you. Follow the law? We kidnap you.
  16. The various Native American info that is being discovered just over the last couple decades is pretty amazing. I had my first brush with it on my first overseas trip with my (then) girlfriend (now wife) probably 20 years or so back. Visited Chichen Itza and just fell in love with it. At the time I bought The Maya by Michael D. Coe, which was at the time the most advanced one volume on the subject. Flash forward 25 years and we just went to Guatemala. Bought the same book - updated mind you - and it's twice as thick with so much more evidence backed data. There's just been a huge leap forward in the study of pre-European American peoples. I never cease to be fascinated by it.
  17. Tell me more...
  18. I'd lose Jasmie Crockett and get...? Mark Veasey currently has 33rd, which I'd get shunted into, but his current gerrymandered district looks like it's getting split all kinds of crazy. So who knows who'd wind up running/winning 33rd. These gqp bastards.
  19. I wonder what their average life span is at the front though. Not much time to spread it around. Just among the walking dead anyhow.
  20. Makes sense on this timeline that the coolest of the three - both literally and figuratively - would be the first to go.
