The museum was smaller than I recall the original in Harlingen and as moved to Midland, but it is nice. They have some of the nose art on display. The more risqué stuff wasn’t on show this weekend. They told me to come back on a weekday.
Went down to Dallas Executive yesterday with Jr to see the Warbird Weekend. It was nice and low key considering it was Mothers Day. Sometimes mom just wants the boys to be gone. B-24A - currently the only B-24 flying Fifi Currently down for maintenance. A six figure problem. Engines 2 and 4 have issues. And they’re not rolling out R-3350 parts like they used to.
I was in a very nice hotel in Helsinki once. They had a glass elevator in their quite formal lobby. I’m sitting there having my coffee and pulla, when I see these two dudes dressed only in robes get on and ride all the way down about four floors. Clearly going to the sauna. Nope. They get out and walk up to the hostess stand to be seated for breakfast. The hostess, a firm but fair Finn, was not having it. She told them in no uncertain terms there was no way they were coming into her dining room with just a robe between their Russian bodies and the fine guests of the hotel who weren’t trying to see any of that. The robe boys? Russians of course. I’ve seen this a million times in various ways. The ugly American gets a bad rap, but Russian and Chinese tourists are the worst. /rant
He was Argentine. If you know anything about Argentina, it's that they're Italians who speak Spanish. Something like 89% of all people from Buenos Aires have some Italian blood, and that only gets moderated to about 75% on a national scale. They definitely don't call themselves "Italian-Argentine."
