  1. “ I have no earthly idea what they should be doing, but I’m here to tell you that they aren’t doing ANY of those good things whatever those are…” I’m not sure that is your very best take in a thread talking about political strategy. All I know is that I’m having problems with my work software, and NONE of those coders were doing ANYTHING to solve the problems!!! And no, I’m not telling you what the coders should have been doing. It’s not my fucking job to tell them what to do; I do law for a living.
  2. ????? Nothing about his post said, or even implied some kind of conspiracy.
  3. on one hand, you have the very livelihood of the constitutional republic called the United States of America, which is currently on a direct course to fail and repudiate everything we believed in during the history of our country. On the other hand, you have people who will get hurt if the GOP drives us into the ditch, but there’s a small chance we can save our country if the injuries from driving into the ditch or so serious and severe that everyone retaliates against the GOP. like I’ve said several times, I am hoping for a great depression. That is the only thing that will ultimately strip away this selfishness and stupidity to an extent that voters only look at their current situation. And if it’s bad enough with the GOP, then they’ll try something else. But it has to be really bad for many people to pull the switch for a Democrat. So I want it really bad.
  4. I guess you’re going to have to articulate what you think they should be doing so we can compare what they’re doing with what you want them to do.
  5. And speaking of glide bombs….
  6. One time I was visiting my 80 year-old mother when she casually mentioned that the bank had called her with a problem. When I asked what it was, she said, “ no biggie, they just wanted to confirm my Social Security number and date of birth…” Who was it mom…which bank? “I can’t remember, one of them” i’m forever getting texts for the toll tag/speeding ticket or for the FedEx package they are trying to deliver but can’t.

  8. Everyone keeps ducking my penguin meat question…
  9. While I never knew there were so many dip shits in this country, the numbers still show we are a 1-4 % difference between who gets in power. I count on Trump and Company being absolute liars. And so they will not issue numbers that are unfavorable. But the bright side is they are also incredibly stupid. Which means they will either just quit issuing reports, or say that we have 100% employment when two out of three of your neighbors were laid off. While maggots will have no problem with that, I would bet my life that unemployed people with no health insurance will not react kindly to this administration lying about those issues. I’m not saying this guarantees a blue wave, but I am saying that the GOP is going to have to put in a lot more work in their election chicanery efforts to pull this off.
  10. Any chatter about freezing or terminating existing plans? I assume it would have an extremely negative impact on employee morale. I have no idea what the overhead is to continue existing 401(k) plans.
  11. “Testing Methods: The rest of the world, including Russia, primarily uses the Research Octane Number (RON), which is a single measure of a fuel's anti-knock properties. US Method: The United States uses the Anti-Knock Index (AKI)(or (R+M)/2), which is the average of the RON and the Motor Octane Number (MON). Conversion: Since MON is always lower than RON, the AKI is typically 4-6 points lower than the RON for the same fuel. How A-76 compares The number 76 in A-76 refers to the MON. Since A-76 is defined by a single number (MON), this is the equivalent of the other number found on Russian fuel pumps. Given that a fuel with a 92 RON in Russia is about an 88.5 AKI in the US, a Russian A-76 fuel would be roughly equivalent to the 85 AKI (or lower) range, fitting into the lowest tier of US gasoline grades.” Comment: if a 92 Russian RON classification is closer to 88.5 US AKI octane rating, then a 72 Russian RON classification would be closer to a 64 US octane rating. Yikes! That also means the Russian 95 gas is closer to 90 octane US.
  12. That will buff right out.

  14. Odd. Like last Friday’s tetanus/Covid/flu triad of shots, my first shingles vaccine shot three weeks ago wound up being a nothing burger as well. It makes me wonder whether my immune system is reacting at all.
  15. https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/russia-declares-partial-diesel-export-ban-until-year-end-extends-gasoline-ban-2025-09-30/ Not enough diesel or gas to sell outside Russia. Who needs rubles?
  16. There is exactly zero chance that the Russian black market isn’t selling the now precious fuel at inflated prices to people who have money to purchase far more than 8 gallons…. and the ability to stock up on as many gallons as possible before things get worse. Which will lead to further shortages. There is a Lada Facebook group that shares information, and it appears most get between 8 to 11 KM per liter. Basically call it 20 miles a gallon. So each driver will have 150 to 160 miles per 30 liter fill up. The problem, of course, is that there needs to be a gas station - with fuel available - when you start to run out, and you always have to save enough fuel before you wait in line to be able to eventually make it to the station. As always, people who live in large metropolitan areas can take the bus and subway/train. The rest of the people who live in vast rural Russia (and depend upon driving to get to work and the grocery store) are going to be suffering. Edit: i’m not sure which vehicles need the 95 versus the 92 to work properly. The one time my cheap kid borrowed my BMW and brought it back filled with cheap 87 octane gas, I knew it immediately. I have no idea which octane brand is still available and what impact that has on anything..

  18. it kind of looks like he just finished the “welcome to the platoon” initiation.
  19. My oldest son just took me to dinner at Herbsaint. He is a manager at Peche. He recently moved from the Brennan organization to Donald Link’s restaurant Empire. The managers get a couple hundred dollars a month to go to other Link entities within the organization. They want managers to try the food and check out the other places. My son is determined that I need to be his dining companion every month when we do this.
