  1. Families of those officers massacred in Katyn raise hands….
  2. Yup, family in the Missouri City area seem to have lost cell service about an hour ago. You have other relatives. You’ll be fine..
  3. Where is this? You look pretty shallow, but dressed for a bit chillier water. Great pics.
  4. I’d leave now and get there earlier. Probably some people there who want to hear about it in greater detail.
  5. The good news about climate change denial is the positive influence on new home construction.
  6. This is how you humble brag your new yurt purchase.
  7. You did not specify, but 55 mph sustained is going to be 60 to 70 gusts. My New Orleans neighborhood lost more trees in a very wet, slow moving tropical storm (when the ground became saturated to the point trees could topple easier) than it ever did in several cat three hurricanes. You are probably right, but never say never in advance.
  8. What is it with the off-the-rack Walmart polyester Mee-maw suit Ms. Castro? Let’s get with the meteorological program!
  9. You’ll get an attractive older women in her 90s wearing sweatpants and a Dokken t-shirts.
  10. The run does not have to be ultimately correct in the long run to spread panic. The magic words in New Orleans are, “the hurricane will enter the mouth of the Mississippi.” What some local weather person says that everybody’s hair catches on fire - and access to gas - and ability to quickly travel - and anything left in the grocery store becomes problematic
  11. go over to Levi’s TTB and look at the latest GFS and tell me what you think.
  12. As the NHC constantly reminds us, their best prognosis at this date is still plus or minus 50 miles and plus or minus one category intensity. I am not betting on that landfall, just sharing the run.
  13. GFS run just came out and has landfall at Freeport and then going north. If that location holds true, I expect to see some generic panic and stupidity tomorrow morning
  14. Of course you understand…..but do you really understand?
  15. those are always a part of my emergency preparedness kit. I fill it up in the tub on the second floor in case we lose water. Not so much for the portable water (I load every large cooking/gumbo/crawfish pot with water and keep them on my dining room table for cooking and drinking) - but because you can use gravity and a half gallon water in the bowl to work your second floor toilet - which prevents some very unpleasant circumstances.
  16. So…I am going to hell, apparently.
  17. if you do not read it as saying the storm will be exactly like Harvey, but instead read it as “do not discount a last-minute intensification into a cat one or two hurricane”, it has some value. There may be people looking at its disorganized self and saying Beryl will not be able to become a hurricane so I can ignore it. This counters that.
  18. Dammit, motion to rename it, “The Gulf of Sharks”
  19. What do you want from your robbery victim - the Rolex and wallet from the guy going to the symphony - or the pouch of Redman and the pocket knife?
  20. AI reports that in the history of the English language, this is the first time that word string was put together.
  21. He is living in his new wife’s million dollar home one block from the Atlantic Ocean on the Treasure Coast. Last Sunday, we walked to the beach and jumped in the ocean. The water is so murky you just have to take it on faith that a shark is not right next to you.
  22. I am not liking the fact that Beryl -after going over the peninsula - will be reappearing over the water with damn near complete circulation and a decent vestige of its eye-wall. I had assumed it would be a little more disorganized at this point.
